Notre Dame football all-time vs. service acadamies

How long until Notre Dame finally has the guts to schedule Space Force?

Notre Dame football has a long history with the United States service academies as some of the biggest games in the early days of the game were between Knute Rockne’s Fighting Irish and the Army.

Notre Dame has also played Navy each year since 1927 before the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to that run in 2020.

The Irish have also taken on Air Force more than a handful of times with some thrillers coming against the Falcons over the years.

So how has Notre Dame fared all-time against the service academies?

WATCH: Alabama football gets shout out on Netflix sitcom ‘Space Force’

Netflix’s new sitcom “Space Force” gave a funny, and quite accurate, shoutout to the Nick Saban and the Alabama Football team.

Netflix’s new sitcom “Space Force” gave a funny, and quite accurate, shoutout to the Nick Saban and the Alabama Football team.

The new centers around a group of people tasked with establishing the sixth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, the United States Space Force.

It stars Steve Carell, Ben Schwartz, and John Malkovich.

In this episode, which is the show’s eight episode called “Conjugal Visit,” the team is looking for a contractor for a project, and clearly, the contractor wants more money than they originally discussed.

The contractor wants $1 million dollars.

Malkovich (who plays Dr. Adrian Mallory) laughs and explains how no government employee, even them, gets paid a million dollars.

That’s when the contractor uses Nick Saban as an example:

“No, no, no. I heard coach Saban makes over $7 million a year,” he says. The contractor follow that with an immediate “Roll Tide!”

Ben Schwartz (who plays Tony Scarapiducci) respond with his own “Roll Tide” back at the contractor.

Malkovish says to Schwartz, “Oh you would be a Bama fan,” to which Schwartz responds with,  “Oh, I’m so sorry for liking winners.”

In 2018, Nick Saban’s contract increased to $7.5 million, and he is getting another $800,000 from what the university is terming a “contract extension/championship signing incentive.” Under his previous terms, Saban had been set to make $7.125 million, including a $400,000 contract-year completion payment.

The trailer for Steve Carell’s ‘Space Force’ is out, and we can’t look away

So cringeworthy but, perhaps, so good.

Steve Carell seems poised to make us squirm in our seats in his new Netflix show, “Space Force,” a TV series spoofing President Donald Trump’s U.S. Space Force initiative to build a space warfare service branch.

A trailer released on Tuesday showed Carell will star as four-star general Mark R. Naird in his efforts to build that group. And yes, it seems like Carell is channeling Michael from “The Office,” another workplace drama, in this new show. The trailer shows its characters (which includes a star-studded cast of John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow, and Don Lake) openly mocking the trials and tribulations of the Space Force under Naird’s leadership. As you can imagine, it seems Naird is jumping from one disaster to the next. Here’s a look.

(Warning: Video contains profanity.)

So cringeworthy and potentially so good, Space Force starts streaming on May 29.
