The No. 19 Tennessee Volunteers (3-1, 0-1 SEC) welcome the South Carolina Gamecocks (2-2, 1-1) to Neyland Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the South Carolina vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Vols beat UTSA 45-14 in Week 4, covering as 24-point home favorites as the total (59) pushed. Tennessee is 2-2 against the spread (ATS), 1-1 ATS at home and 1-2-1 O/U. South Carolina at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 31, South Carolina 28

Moneyline

PASS.

Both teams have strong offenses, but the Volunteers have the edge on the defensive side of the ball. Tennessee (-450) should win at home with its far superior defense, but there is no value to bet on it to win outright.

Against the spread

BET SOUTH CAROLINA +12 (-110).

The Gamecocks have been electric against the spread in SEC play, covering both of their games so far, losing by 10 as 26-point underdogs vs. Georgia in Week 3 and beating Mississippi State by 7 as 6-point favorites in Week 4.

Rattler is starting to show the confidence that had him among the preseason favorites to win the Heisman. The Tennessee defense still allows 190.8 passing yards per game, so while it is strong, Rattler should be able to operate some. The Vols are 0-1 ATS against SEC opponents, losing 29-16 to Florida as 4.5-point favorites.

Considering the differences in ATS records in conference play along with Rattler’s play and ability to move the ball throughout the first month of the season, take SOUTH CAROLINA +12 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 63.5 (-110).

Tennessee is 1-2-1 O/U this season and has allowed fewer than 30 points in all 4 of its games this season. Its offense has struggled as of late as well, topping 30 points in just 2 of its last 3 games. It is 0-2-1 O/U in its last 3 games and 0-1 O/U in conference play.

South Carolina is 2-2 O/U this season and 1-1 O/U in conference play. It struggled mightily against a strong Georgia defense, scoring just 14 points, but put up 37 points in its 2nd SEC game. The Gamecocks are allowing 27 per game in conference play.

Analyzing Saturday’s South Carolina at Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The South Carolina Gamecocks (10-18, 3-12 SEC) visit the No. 13 Tennessee Volunteers (20-8, 9-6) on Saturday. Tip from Thompson-Boling Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET (SECN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the South Carolina vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

South Carolina fell to Alabama at home in overtime Wednesday, covering as 17-point underdogs. While it is just 2-8 in its last 10 games, South Carolina is 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in that span. On the season, the Gamecocks are 15-13 ATS.

Tennessee fell to Texas A&M on Tuesday failing to cover as 2-point road underdogs. It has now lost back-to-back games and is just 5-5 in its last 10. The Volunteers are 4-6 ATS in that span and sit at 14-14 ATS this season.

South Carolina at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 73, South Carolina 59

Moneyline

PASS.

At 45 times the risk as the reward for Tennessee bettors, there is no value on the moneyline.

Against the spread

BET SOUTH CAROLINA +22.5 (-110).

While Tennessee is clearly the better team in this matchup with one of the top defenses in the nation, 22.5 points are far too many to be confident in to back them.

The Gamecocks are 4-2 ATS when playing as 15-or-more-point underdogs, most recently coming off an overtime defeat to Alabama, a game when they were 17-point underdogs. They are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games against a team with a winning home record.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 129.5 (-110).

As it stands, 129.5 would be tied for the lowest closing spread in Tennessee’s last 10 games, and it would be the lowest closing line in South Carolina’s last 10 games.

The Over is 7-3 in South Carolina’s last 10 games including 4-1 in its last 5 road games and it is 8-2 overall when it plays on the road.

South Carolina at Tennessee odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s South Carolina Gamecocks at Tennessee Volunteers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2, 0-2 SEC) head to Knoxville, Tenn., to face the Tennessee Volunteers (3-2, 1-1) Saturday. Kickoff at Neyland Stadium is set for noon ET. Below, we look at the South Carolina vs. Tennessee odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Tennessee is coming off its best game of the season with a 62-24 blowout win over Missouri last week in a game that was over by halftime. The Volunteers have found their man in QB Hendon Hooker, who is averaging 9.4 yards per attempt (15th in the nation) with a sparkling 10/1 TD/INT ratio. The defense has held its own as well with a 4.86 yards-per-play average that ranks 51st in the country.

While South Carolina has the same record as Tennessee, its body of work is far less impressive. The wins have come against inferior competition (Troy, East Carolina, Eastern Illinois) with losses to Kentucky (16-10 in Week 4) and Georgia (40-13) in Week 3.

The Gamecocks have talent on defense—they’re allowing fewer than 300 yards per game—but the offense has struggled to move the ball (328.0 yards per game, 117th in the nation) or score (22.4 points per game; 103rd in the nation) through the first five games.

South Carolina at Tennessee odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 34, South Carolina 20

Money line

It’s highly unlikely South Carolina pulls this off on the road, so we’re going to PASS on the money line and target better odds against the spread.

Against the spread

The Gamecocks have the better record against the spread this year (3-1-1 to 2-3), but we’re skeptical they can keep up with an improving Vols offense.

Look for TENNESSEE -10.5 (-112) to pull away with relative ease behind another big day from Hooker.

Over/Under

Given its brutal offense and stout defense, it’s no surprise four of South Carolina’s five games hit the Under. The Volunteers will do their part to hit the Over, but we don’t see enough points coming from South Carolina’s side.

Take the UNDER 57.5 (-110).

Tennessee is No. 20 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

  • Against the spread/ATS: South Carolina +11.5 (-110) | Tennessee -11.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 143.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

South Carolina at Tennessee: Three things to know

  1. The Volunteers come into this game off a Saturday loss at LSU. Tennessee scored just 65 points in that game. A UT five ranked 10th in the SEC in scoring (72.8 points per game) has scored fewer than 66 points in each of its five losses this winter.
  2. The Gamecocks third-leading scorer — G Jermaine Couisnard — was ruled for Wednesday after suffering a foot injury in USC’s Saturday game against Ole Miss, an 81-74 loss at home. Couisnard is averaging 9.7 points and a team-high 3.6 assists per game.
  3. Since upsetting then-No. 23 Florida Feb. 3, South Carolina has shot just 38.9% in losing three straight games. During the skid, the Gamecocks have committed 17 turnovers per contest while allowing an average of 79.0 PPG points.

South Carolina at Tennessee: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 77, South Carolina 64

Money line (ML)

The Vols haven’t been great against the fast-tempo teams in their conference, and the Gamecocks have tempo figures right up there with the fastest in the SEC,

USC is not Alabama, Arkansas, or Georgia. The Gamecocks don’t shoot well enough to go on many sustained runs.

The lean here is on Tennessee, even up to -750 but PASS on this listed price.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Tennessee is 4-1 ATS in its last five games against sub-.500 teams.

The Vols figure to pile up points from the foul line and from beyond the 3-point arc. Still, 11.5 points is a lot. Peg TENNESSEE -11.5 (-110) as a small-margin lean.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both sides tote in some Over trends but this number reflects those tendencies and calls out for a zag. TAKE THE UNDER 143.5 (-105).
