Notre Dame-Boston College: Bone-chilling cold, maybe even snow forecasted

There is cold. And then there is Notre Dame and South Bend cold.

If you’re headed to South Bend for the final Notre Dame home game of 2022 on Saturday make sure you bring a coat.  Or two.  Perhaps even three if you’re going to be making a day of it and plan on walking campus and taking in some pregame tailgating.

As we near Saturday afternoon the forecast does not sound pleasant.  There is almost no cold like Notre Dame, or South Bend cold.  and it is that cold that is forecasted for Saturday.  Along with significant winds and a chance of snow.  Here is what the Weather Channel forecasts for this weekend in South Bend (forecast updated Nov. 17, 2022 at 1:45 p.m. EST).

Saturday day: 
Cloudy skies with afternoon snow showers. High 27F. Winds SW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 40%. Higher wind gusts possible.

Saturday night:
Variably cloudy with snow showers. Low 16F. Winds W at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 40%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.

Weather Watch: South Bend should be nice for Notre Dame vs Louisville

The weather should be fantastic as Notre Dame gets ready to face off against Louisville.

With Notre Dame’s game against the Louisville Cardinals set to kickoff around 1:30 pm CDT, the weather should be absolutely perfect for a football game.

There is no chance of rain all afternoon, but there is a pretty gusty wind coming from the south at around 17 miles per hour.

At kickoff it’ll be 58 degrees Fahrenheit (according to weather.com) and should stay around that temperature for most of the afternoon. Mid-fifties is what it will feel like, but for a mid-October afternoon, it’s fantastic weather for football. Go Irish!

Weather watch: What to expect in South Bend for Notre Dame vs FSU

It should be a great night weather wise in South Bend, Indiana for Notre Dame’s matchup against Florida State.

After watching some exciting games this afternoon, the Irish are finally set to hit the field in just about an hour and a half. Florida State should thank the weather gods, as it shouldn’t get too chilly this evening.

Around kickoff it will be around 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The sun will completely set around 7:11pm which brings a dip in the temperature.

It drops to 63 degrees Fahrenheit at 8pm then another two degrees lower by 9pm. Around the time of the games completion it will be 59 degrees Fahrenheit, an 11 degree drop from kickoff.

There is no rain in the forecast, so it should be dry. A perfect night to play college football in South Bend.
