Nikola Jokic scored 61 points and recorded the highest-scoring triple-double in NBA history, yet the Denver Nuggets lost at home in a double-overtime thriller against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 139-140.

Russell Westbrook missed an open layup on a fast break that would have put Denver ahead by three points with 11.3 seconds left and then fouled Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who sealed the victory from the free-throw line.

Paulson Adebo progressing well from devastating injury

Paulson Adebo shared an update on his recovery from a broken femur. The Saints’ starting cornerback is progressing well before free agency:

Paulson Adebo went down with a broken femur midway through last season against the Denver Broncos, and it was the last time we saw the New Orleans Saints cornerback in 2024. There are some that question if it is the last time we will see him in a Saints uniform.

Adebo suffered the injury in the seventh game of the year and is showcasing his recovery process after the season. The cornerback shared a video clip of himself on social media running on the treadmill at 21 miles per hour.

This is a great sign after a bad leg injury. Alontae Taylor and Kool-Aid McKinstry are your top returning corners on the roster. Seeing that Adebo is about to enter free agency, that video was an advertisement to the entire league that he’s healthy and ready to help his team — whoever they might be.

It would make sense for the Saints to attempt to retain Adebo. Neither Taylor nor McKinstry have shown they’re above competing for their spot in the starting lineup. New Orleans should reinforce the position after trading Marshon Lattimore. The only other corners under contract for 2025 are Rico Payton and Rejzohn Wright, who spent his year on injured reserve.

While his value on the free agent market remains to be seen, Adebo could also benefit from a return to New Orleans. It would likely be a short-term deal and allow him to build his stock with a healthy year of quality game tape. He could also be priced out of the Saints’ budget. He’s been one of the most productive ballhawks in the NFL since he was drafted with 43 passes defensed in 52 games played. But until that time comes, it’s just good to see Adebo moving at high speed again.

Social media reactions to Mike McCarthy withdrawing from Saints HC search

Many fans took to social media following news of Mike McCarthy backing out of the New Orleans Saints coaching search:

Another domino has dropped for the New Orleans Saints and their head coaching search, with former Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy backing out of the 2025 coaching cycle to focus on 2026 instead. This could be the result of a number of different things, but ultimately he will no longer be an option as the candidate pool narrows down to four for the Saints.

Many Saints and NFL fans alike took to social media to voice their displeasure or agreeance with this decision, and whether or not it was the Saints or McCarthy who initiated this to occur. With that said, here are some of the recent news updates and social media reactions to the McCarthy news:

Ex-Broncos safety tweets that his comeback will be personal

“This comeback personal, trust,” former Broncos safety Caden Sterns tweeted.

It looks like Caden Sterns plans to continue his NFL career, and his comeback attempt will be personal.

“This comeback personal, trust,” Sterns tweeted last week.

The 25-year-old safety spent was picked by the Denver Broncos in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Texas. He appeared in 21 games for the Broncos before suffering a torn patellar tendon in Week 1 of the 2023 season. That knee injury derailed his career.

The Broncos cut Sterns last summer and he was initially picked up by the Carolina Panthers, but they waived him after he failed a physical. Sterns then went on a roller coaster ride with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles signed, cut, signed, cut, signed, cut, signed and cut Sterns in eight transactions from Aug. 11 to Oct. 10. He’s been a free agent since the fall and was not signed to a reserve/future contract at the end of the 2024 season.

After a tough 2024, Sterns aims to bounce back in 2025.

Broncos quarterbacks vacation with wives in Mexico

Broncos QBs Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson and OL Mike McGlinchey are in Mexico with their wives following their 2024 season.

In what could be their final retreat as teammates, Denver Broncos quarterbacks Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson are currently vacationing in Mexico.

Nix’s wife, Izzy, shared photos of the three QBs at a resort in Cabo on her Instagram story on Thursday. Stidham’s wife, Kennedy, also shared photos on Instagram, as did Wilson’s fiancé, Nicolette Dellanno.

Broncos right tackle Mike McGlinchey also appears in two of the photos shared on social media, and his wife, Brooke, posted from the resort on her Instagram story.

Stidham shared a story geotagged in Cabo San Lucas, a city in Baja California Sur, a Mexican peninsula state.

Stidham and Wilson are both scheduled to become unrestricted free agents in March and it’s unclear if the Broncos will re-sign them.

The three Denver QBs and their significant others got together for a dinner each week during the season and Nix and his wife have both shared how much they appreciate the friendships formed in the team’s QB room.

We’ll find out in the coming months and Stidham and Wilson will return with the Broncos ahead of the 2025 season.

Sean Payton reacts to Jets hiring member of his coaching tree

Aaron Glenn played under Sean Payton with the Saints and later returned to New Orleans as a coach. He’s now the head coach in New York.

The New York Jets hired former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn as their new head coach this week.

After news of that hire broke on social media, Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton took to Twitter/X to congratulate Glenn, one of his former understudies.

“Congratulations, AG! Much Deserved #Jets,” Payton wrote on his Twitter page. The tweet has more than one million views on the social media site.

Glenn, 52, played under Payton as a safety with the New Orleans Saints in 2008. He later returned to the Saints as a defensive backs coach, a position he held from 2016-2020.

Glenn was hired by Dan Campbell, another member of Payton’s coaching tree, with the Detroit Lions as a DC in 2021. After four seasons in Detroit, Glenn has now landed the HC job in New York.

Payton and Glenn will face off this fall as the Jets are scheduled to host the Broncos during the 2025 NFL season.

Broncos fans now supporting team that knocked them out of playoffs

Yes, the Bills knocked the Broncos out of the NFL playoffs, but they’re now facing the Chiefs in the AFC’s title game. Let’s go, Buffalo!!!

Just one week after the Buffalo Bills knocked the Denver Broncos out of the NFL playoffs, fans in Colorado are throwing their support behind the Bills.

After defeating the Baltimore Ravens 27-25 in the divisional round of the playoffs, Buffalo is now set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Despite the Bills beating the Broncos in the Wild Card round, Denver fans are now backing Buffalo in the conference title game.

The Chiefs, of course, are a division rival for the Broncos in the AFC West. The Bills also employ pass rusher Von Miller, a franchise legend in Denver. Miller is still loved by Broncos fans, many of whom want to see him knock Kansas City out of the postseason.

Miller won Super Bowl 50 with the Broncos following the 2015 season and he later won Super Bowl LVI with the Los Angeles Rams following the 2021 season. Miller is now attempting to win a third title with his third team, and fans in Denver are behind him.

Pat Surtain deletes tweet about egregious Patrick Mahomes penalty

Fans, pundits and even current players could not believe the penalty awarded in Patrick Mahomes’ favor against the Texans on Saturday.

Late in the third quarter of yesterday’s playoff game against the Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes scrambled and then slid at the very last second before being hit by two defenders.

Because the slide came so late in the play, the defenders seemingly did not have time to pull back and they made contact with Mahomes. Consequently, officials threw penalty flags for hitting a sliding quarterback.

Fans and pundits were both outraged by the penalty, and even Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain chimed in. In a since-deleted tweet, PS2 wrote: “Cmon man what we supposed to do when he sliding.”

Surtain, of course, was not alone in his belief that it should not have been a penalty. Even ESPN’s Troy Aikman objected during the broadcast.

“Oh, come on!” Aikman said. “I mean, he’s a runner. I could not disagree with that one more. He barely gets hit.”

Mahomes and the Chiefs are now set to face the winners of the Buffalo Bills-Baltimore Ravens game in the AFC Championship game next week.

TikTok star ‘The Rizzler’ in attendance for Chiefs’ playoff tilt vs. Texans

TikTok star ‘The Rizzler’ will be at Arrowhead Stadium for the #Chiefs’ divisional-round playoff matchup against the #Texans.

The Kansas City Chiefs are no strangers to having high-profile celebrities at their games in recent seasons, but the team will be graced with an almost-mythical presence when it takes on the Houston Texans this afternoon.

In a post to Twitter, the Chiefs confirmed that TikTok star “The Rizzler” was in attendance for Kansas City’s divisional-round playoff showdown against the Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

“The Rizzler” is known for his larger-than-life personality that became a hit among users of the embattled short-form video platform last year.

The Chiefs’ official Twitter account posted a video of “The Rizzler” in the stands at Arrowhead and followed up with a picture of the social media star on the field before kickoff on Saturday afternoon.

Though Chiefs fans who aren’t chronically online might not recognize the young man, those who use sites like TikTok or Twitter regularly are sure to have seen his content in the past.
