Chiefs complain about snowballs, lack of hot water after win vs. Bills

Two #Chiefs took to Twitter to complain about a lack of hot water in the locker room and snowballs after Kansas City’s win over the #Bills.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ hard-fought win over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs on Sunday night was decided by just three points.

In Patrick Mahomes’ first-ever road playoff game, the Chiefs marched into Buffalo with a chip on their shoulders and delivered a remarkable performance to beat the Bills against seemingly all odds.

Not all was well after their victory, though, as players from both sides of the ball had complaints about a lack of hot water in the locker room and fan behavior at Highmark Stadium after the game.

First, offensive lineman Donovan Smith took to social media to inform fans that the showers at Highmark Stadium weren’t working properly.

Then, defensive back Jaylen Watson posted about snowballs that were thrown at him during the matchup by Buffalo’s fans.

Watson wasn’t the only Chief to be pelted by Bills Mafia, either. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was hit by snowballs as he trotted off the field to greet fans.

Clearly, frustrations in Western New York boiled over after Buffalo’s crushing defeat. The league’s response to the tense postgame occurrences may be something for fans to keep their eyes on ahead of the Chiefs’ matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game next week.

Bills admonish fans about throwing snowballs ahead of matchup vs. Chiefs

#Bills fans were asked to not throw snowballs at Highmark Stadium ahead of Buffalo’s divisional playoff matchup against the #Chiefs.

The budding rivalry between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills has made for excellent football in recent matchups between the AFC powerhouses. Both teams have proven that they are legitimate championship contenders, and the atmosphere at Highmark Stadium on Sunday night is sure to be electric.

But, as snow descended over Western New York in recent weeks, fan behavior at Buffalo’s home games has been less than exemplary. The so-called “Bills Mafia” was seen throwing snowballs at Buffalo’s last game, which caused some controversy after their playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Before their Divisional round matchup against Kansas City, Bills tackle Dion Dawkins was featured in a public service announcement released on Twitter that implored fans not to throw snowballs.

It is unclear whether Bufflao’s rowdy fans will choose to take heed of Dawkins’ plea, especially given the history between the Bills and the reigning Super Bowl champions.

With so much at stake for both teams, fan interference could be a serious concern for officials ahead of this matchup. In the past, Buffalo’s fans have been warned that throwing snowballs could cause referees to assess 15-yard penalties against the Bills.

Bills fans warned to stop throwing snowballs after Josh Allen’s second TD pass

The difference between teams winning games and losing can be translated into those that kick field goals while others score touchdowns.

The Miami Dolphins came away from a pair of drives deep in Buffalo territory Saturday with Jason Sanders’ field goals.

Josh Allen made sure Tyler Bass didn’t have to attempt any 3-pointers in the first 22 minutes because he was finishing drives with TD passes.

First came a scoring pass to Quintin Morris.

Next up was a throw to Nyheim Heines that was good for 10 yards and a 14-6 lead after the PAT.

The snowballs were thrown again and the fans continued to blitz the field with them.

The game was stopped and the officials made an announcement warning the fans that the Bills could face a 15-yard penalty if the fans continued to throw the snow — and ice — balls.
