‘Olympic mom’ Hoda Kotb gets surprised by Simone Biles on anchor’s final Today show

This was lovely.

It’s been quite an emotional day on the Today show with Hoda Kotb on her last day

And one of the surprise guests celebrating the longtime co-anchor was … Simone Biles!

MORE HODA: Why she’s said she’s leaving the Today show

The Olympics legend had some lovely things to say, like this: “She’s like our Olympic mom. I’ve been coming to the Today show for years and sharing vulnerable stories, which Hoda has given us such a great platform [for], to be open and raw and to just feel like [it’s] a safe space.”

At the end, Biles had this to say with her undecided if she’s competing in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics: “Hopefully, we’re in L.A. together … whatever that means!”

Hmmm!

Simone Biles revealed why she is torn about competing at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics

“What’s really worth it?”

There’s a chance Simone Biles won’t compete in the 2028 Olympics, and as much as that sentence seems unreal, there’s a reason why she’s undecided about it.

When Biles arrived at the 2024 Paris Olympics last year, there were many questions about whether it would be a repeat of the 2021 Tokyo Games. Unfortunately, Biles had to withdraw from competing due to the twisties or life-threatening gymnastics vertigo that prevents athletes from knowing where they are while in the air. But Paris was different. Biles walked away with three gold medals and a silver, solidifying her status as the GOAT of women’s gymnastics.

Rightfully, the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics questions started. At the time, Biles said, “You never say never,” with a smile. But she might be more torn about being there than previously thought. Per Stephanie Apstein of Sports Illustrated, Biles revealed what competing in the next Olympics must be about for her to return. “Life and death,” she explained. Here’s more from Biles about the decision:

“Because I’ve accomplished so much, there’s almost nothing left to do—rather than to just be snobby and to try again, and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”

“If you go back, you’ll be greedy. Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it?”

Simone Biles wore a customized outfit themed after husband Jonathan Owens to Seahawks-Bears

What an outfit!

Team USA gymnast Simone Biles found a really neat way to support her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens, ahead of his team’s Thursday night NFL game.

Ahead of the Bears taking on the Seattle Seahawks at home on Thursday Night Football, Biles showed up to the game wearing a customized outfit featuring images of Owens in his Chicago uniform.

The level of detail in this winter outfit shows just how much Biles is proud of Owens, as he is front-and-center on her game-day fashion choice.

We have seen some great customized outfits this season, but this one is high on the list.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens shared an adorable handshake before Bears-Vikings

The couple had a moment before Monday Night Football.

The Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings squared off on Monday night in Minneapolis, with the home team improving to 12-2 in a decisive 30-12 win. While Minnesota has been thriving, Chicago has had a tough go of things, losing seven straight games heading into the Monday Night Football contest. Before the game, Bears safety Jonathan Owens met with his wife on the sidelines.

Owens has been married to Olympic gymnast Simone Biles in April of 2023, and she’s frequently in attendance at her husband’s games. Biles wished her husband good luck, then the couple adorably executed a complicated handshake before parting ways.

Jonathan Owens celebrated a Bears fumble by miming Simone Biles’ landing pose

Jonathan Owens wholeheartedly loves Simone Biles.

With Jonathan Owens playing for the Chicago Bears this season, that means Simone Biles — his all-time Olympian wife — is usually in attendance to support her husband. And it’s pretty clear that any time Owens makes a significant play, he’s going to pay proper tribute to her.

On Sunday, with the NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings threatening to punch the ball into the end zone on a promising opening drive, Owens forced a fumble on Vikings running back Aaron Jones.

To celebrate the turnover, Owens gathered his Bears teammates in the end zone and mimed Biles’ signature landing pose.

Fantastic stuff.

Owens is a classic wife guy through and through. You gotta love it.

Gymnastics legend Simone Biles praises Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes: ‘He’s just a miracle worker’

Gymnastics legend Simone Biles praises Kansas City #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes: ‘He’s just a miracle worker’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’s popularity continues to grow with his success. He has caught the attention of various fans, NFL critics, and sports legends, like Olympic Gymnast Simone Biles.

Biles recently appeared on the “Not Just Football with Cam Heyward” podcast to speak highly about her husband, Johnathan Owens, and express respect for Mahomes’ play on the field.

“I mean, besides my husband (Owens), because he’s broken down stigmas that aren’t typical,” said Biles. “He’s D2 (Division II), undrafted, in year seven in the league, which is so good for kids to see, especially when he hosts his football camps. But I really think we always go back to Patrick Mahomes.”

Biles recently took home four more medals at her third Olympic Games in Paris, France, this past summer, inspiring a country with her career efforts. She’s impressed with Mahomes’ triumphs and jokingly said her husband wouldn’t be fond of her admiration for the three-time Super Bowl champion.

“A freak of nature, how does he always pull it out? It’s like the Chiefs could be down, and he’s just a miracle worker,” said Biles. “He’d probably kill me for saying that or admitting it, at least.”

Mahomes adds another fan, and the Chiefs aren’t expected to see Owens and his Chicago Bears again this year unless the teams meet in the Super Bowl.

Simone Biles makes fashion statement at Rams-Bears

Simone Biles with a great look at Soldier Field for Rams-Bears

The Chicago Bears played host to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Soldier Field. Olympic great Simone Biles was on hand to support husband Jonathan Owens and the home team against their NFC West foe

Biles made quite the fashion statement in a sharp outfit and stunning go-go boots.

Simone Biles had the proudest reaction to husband Jonathan Owens scoring a TD on blocked punt

Simone Biles was unbelievably proud of Jonathan Owens.

Safety Jonathan Owens is a Chicago Bear now. That means the greatest American gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, is now a fan of the Bears as she watches her husband play for them.

And boy, the prolific Olympian got a special treat on Sunday afternoon.

In Caleb Williams’ debut, the Bears were trying to mount a double-digit comeback against the visiting Tennessee Titans during the third quarter. They would block a punt that found its way into the hands of Owens, who streaked into the end zone for Chicago’s first touchdown of the 2024 season.

When Biles recapped her feelings on the moment on Twitter, she was understandably over the moon about her husband making the huge play:

Man, that’s so awesome. What a lovely moment for this dynamic young power couple.

Simone Biles revealed why her flag handoff with Tom Cruise was the most stressful part of the Olympics

“Don’t mess it up. Don’t mess it up.”

Simone Biles won a staggering four medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. But she says she didn’t feel any pressure while earning them. There was another moment that was way more nerve-wracking for the GOAT of gymnastics — handing off the Olympic flag to Tom Cruise.

I’m not kidding. That’s an actual sentence. Simone Biles was incredibly uneasy about the flag handoff with Tom Cruise because she didn’t want to botch it. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Simone recapped her fantastic Olympic run with Jimmy when he asked her about carrying the Olympic flag during closing ceremonies.

Jimmy mentioned that he thought it had to be a lot of pressure, including not tripping in front of the world, and Simone agreed. Then, she revealed why it was so much pressure, saying, “I’m always tripping, falling down stairs — like, bad for me. So, actually that’s like the most nervous I was for the whole entire Olympics. I was like, ‘Okay, I have to hand the flag off — like, don’t mess it up. Don’t mess it up.’ I was terrified.” (See the 1:23 mark of the YouTube video below.)

Caitlin Clark and the Fever fangirled so hard over meeting Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas

Caitlin and the Fever met Simone Biles and Gabby Thomas, and the whole team was HYPED.

Simone Biles and fellow Olympian Gabby Thomas met the Indiana Fever Wednesday, and the team’s reaction was priceless.

Before the Fever’s matchup with the Connecticut Sun, Biles posted on her Instagram story that she was attending her first WNBA game. Simone and Gabby picked one heck of a matchup to attend. Caitlin Clark was doing Caitlin Clark things during a back-and-forth game that included breaking a WNBA record, an unbelievable crosscourt assist and trading buckets with DiJonai Carrington.

The Fever eventually won and they were rewarded with a locker room visit by Simone and Gabby. Unsurprisingly, nearly every player could hardly contain themselves as they posed for photos. The pure joy on their faces is spectacular.
