Juarez (11-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) scored a blistering combination on Na Liang (13-6 MMA, 0-2 UFC) early in their strawweight fight at Singapore Indoor Stadium, putting herself in the UFC win column for the first time with a thrilling highlight.

After getting submitted in the first round in her first pair of octagon appearances, Juarez was able to change the narrative and get her hand raised this time around. She knew she could do it with her punching power.

“That was the plan,” Juarez told Daniel Cormier through an interpreter during her post-fight interview. “I knew she would come for the takedowns, and we could defend them and land with my hands. This win is for everyone.”

UFC opened its 2022 pay-per-view schedule on Saturday with UFC 270 at Honda Center in Anaheim.

UFC 270 salaries: Francis Ngannou, four others take home six-figure paydays

Much was made in the lead-up to UFC 270 about Francis Ngannou’s contract. So what was his disclosed purse?

UFC 270 featured two title fights and all four of the participants walked out of the cage with six-figure disclosed paydays.

Heavyweight champion [autotag]Francis Ngannou[/autotag] and former interim champion [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] led the way. Former champion [autotag]Brandon Moreno[/autotag] and current flyweight champion [autotag]Deiveison Figueiredo[/autotag] were not far behind in the co-main event.

MMA Junkie obtained a full list of disclosed UFC 270 payouts from California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) executive director Andy Foster immediately following the event. The purses listed do not include discretionary bonuses, pay-per-view points, or performance bonuses.

UFC 270 video: Vanessa Demopoulos jumps into Joe Rogan’s arms after pulling off slick armbar

UFC commentator Joe Rogan found himself with two arm’s full of fighter during the post-fight interview.

[autotag]Vanessa Demopoulos[/autotag] has her first UFC win, and like the fight, her post-fight interview ended in an unpredictable fashion.

In the second fight of the UFC 270 prelims, Demopoulos (7-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) defeated opponent [autotag]Silvana Gomez Juarez[/autotag] (10-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) via first-round armbar at 2:25 of Round 1.

The win was Demopoulos’ first in the promotion and it did not come without adversity. The finishing sequence actually came after she was dropped by a Juarez punch. Immediately after the tap, Demopoulos rose to her feet and hit a split โ€“ similar to the one she nailed at ceremonial weigh-ins Friday.

In what might be a UFC first, Demopoulos made her victory even more memorable when she geeked out at the sight of UFC commentator, comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan during the post-fight interview. As Rogan was closing his questioning, Demopoulos jumped into his arms.

Demopoulos rebounds from a UFC debut loss against JJ Aldrich in August. Meanwhile, Juarez’s losing skid expands to two, also including a submission loss to Lupita Godinez in October.

UFC Fight Night 194 video: Loopy Godinez taps out Silvana Juarez before emotional interview

Loopy Godinez got her first career submission victory at UFC Fight Night 194.

[autotag]Loopy Godinez[/autotag]’s first career submission victory couldn’t have come at a better moment.

Godinez (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC), a strawweight prospect from Mexico whoย  fights out of Canada, forced [autotag]Silvana Gomez Juarez[/autotag] (10-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to tap out in the first round at UFC Fight Night 194 on Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

After putting on heavy pressure early in the fight, Godinez got Juarez in a compromising position on the mat. She took the back, but Juarez made critical errors in her defense that allowed Godinez to snatch the arm for the tap at the 4:14 mark of Round 1.

After the fight reached its conclusion, Godinez could not contain her emotions during the post-fight interview with Paul Felder.

Godinez said one of her primary cornermen is dealing with health issues and wasn’t expected to attend the fight. He ultimately was able to make it, though, and Godinez could not hold back her tears as she thanked him for the support.

Dana White’s Contender Series takes on international theme, 10 fights added to upcoming season

Ten fights are on the docket for Season 5 of Dana White’s Contender Series.

The lineup for Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 5 is slowly coming to form. Contracts are going out and fighters are putting their names on the dotted lines.

The upcoming installment has a different flare than recent years, with a large percentage of the roster coming from outside North America. The majority are from Brazil, Russia and beyond. Of the fights that have surfaced thus far, only a few Americans are set to partake in Season 5, which is set to begin in August.

The first known event date is Aug. 31. The series will extend at least through mid-October, with the latest event on the schedule currently set for Oct. 12.
