Top QB declares for 2025 NFL draft

Shedeur Sanders is in the mix to be the top quarterback off the board in the 2025 NFL draft.

By the time the 2025 NFL draft rolls around, there are a number of quarterbacks who will be vying to be the first quarterback off the board. One of those quarterbacks who made it more or less official is Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

Sanders informally declared for the 2025 NFL draft when he was asked about registering for classes in the spring and he replied, “Man, I’m going to the league.”

Sanders joined his dad at Colorado when Deion became the head coach.

Many project Sanders to be a top-five pick in the first round. Personally, we expect Sanders to go high but could definitely be overdrafted due to so many quarterback-needy teams. Sanders is far from a finished product, and we don’t expect to see a ton of growth from him on that Buffaloes team, so it only makes sense he maximizes his momentum now.

Shedeur Sanders response to Colorado class registration: ‘I’m going to the league’

Shedeur Sanders doesn’t plan on being around Boulder for classes next semester

The Colorado football team gathered around and was informed that everyone needed to remember it was time to register for next semester classes in Boulder.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders didn’t seem too enthused about signing up for credits. In fact, he had quite the quip as a response.

“I’m going to the league,” the QB said. “I know after last game, man, you’re not going to see me.”

Saints scout two of the 2025 draft’s best prospects at Colorado

The Saints stopped at Colorado’s campus to scout two of the 2025 draft’s best prospects. They’re in position to draft Travis Hunter or Shedeur Sanders, but will they?

We’ll see how the standings shake out after this week’s round of NFL games, but right now the New Orleans Saints are slotted in at the fifth overall pick in the 2025 draft after their 2-6 start to the season. That’s prime position to select a top prospect like Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter or standout quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

And last week the Saints were one of five NFL teams who stopped by Colorado’s campus in Boulder to scout the Buffaloes. Hunter is seen as a franchise-altering talent at either wide receiver or cornerback, and Sanders is competing with Miami’s Cameron Ward to be the first passer selected. It makes sense that the Saints would be keeping tabs on each of them.

But those aren’t Colorado’s only NFL prospects. Wide receiver Will Sheppard and safety Shilo Sanders should both be drafted in the middle rounds or early on Day 3. Another wideout, Jimmy Horn Jr., is a rising star, too.

Campus visits like this are common for NFL teams, so don’t read too deeply into it. They’re often used for information-gathering so scouts can fill out their reports after meeting with coaches, trainers, and even academic counselors. But if the Saints keep losing and end up in position to pick a playmaker like Hunter or Sanders? Well. Stranger things have happened.

Titans select QB Shedeur Sanders in latest PFF mock draft

In the latest Pro Football Focus mock draft, the Titans have the second pick and select QB Shedeur Sanders from Colorado.

The Tennessee Titans’ offensive struggles aren’t a secret. In fact, those struggles are plainly and painfully obvious to anyone who watches even a single snap the Titans play. Right now, Amy Adams Strunk says she’s standing by Ran Carthon and Brian Callahan, trusting their process, but something has to change.

That something needs to be the quarterback. Will Levis simply isn’t cutting it on this team. He has potential, but he needs to sit behind a veteran who can mentor him for at least one season (likely more) so he can work on the fundamentals, figure out a better decision-making process, learn not to panic under pressure, etc. Mason Rudolph isn’t proving to be any better, either.

Pro Football Focus released its latest mock draft for 2025 to address that need. After the loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the Titans are currently slated to pick second behind the Carolina Panthers. With that second pick, PFF predicts that the Titans will select Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, son of the infamous Deion Sanders.

2. TENNESSEE TITANS: QB SHEDEUR SANDERS, COLORADO

Record: 1-6
PFF Power Ranking: 29
Team Needs: QB, WR, OT

Sanders has the most consistently high-level tape of any quarterback in this draft class. His pocket-passing style would pair seamlessly with head coach Brian Callahan, who spent years working with Joe Burrow as Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator. Together, they could form an ideal quarterback-coach duo.

Sanders may be the most consistent in his class, but that does not mean he is ready for the NFL field. Even if he does pair well with Brian Callahan, is he really a Day 1 starter as a rookie? Because that’s what the Titans need. They need a guy who can come in, take over, and lead this team to the next level.

This is just a mock, though, and even if the Titans pick second, their best bet for a quarterback is to go back to Green Bay and beg for Malik Willis to be returned.

Shedeur Sanders throws dime to Will Sheppard for touchdown at Arizona

Shedeur Sanders showed off his accuracy on a beautiful touchdown pass to Will Sheppard

Especially on offense, the Colorado Buffaloes are off to an impressive start in Saturday’s Big 12 football game against the Arizona Wildcats.

Running back Isaiah Augustave and wide receiver Drelon Miller each scored a touchdown in the first quarter before fellow WR Will Sheppard joined the party early in the second quarter. With the Buffs up 14-7, quarterback Shedeur Sanders threw a perfect fade to Sheppard, who made a one-handed grab in the end zone.

Sheppard’s touchdown catch marked the 24th of his college career and his third in a Colorado uniform.

Other Buffs who’ve impressed in the first half include wide receiver LaJohntay Wester (99 receiving yards), safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig (four total tackles) and defensive end BJ Green II (one sack, one TFL).

As of this writing, Colorado holds a 21-7 lead over Arizona late in the second quarter.

NFL mock draft from CBS has 4 QBs in top-12 including Shedeur Sanders

So many QBs!

Will Shedeur Sanders be the first QB taken off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft? Seems like that’s where the needle is pointing right now as we saw in the newest ESPN NFL mock draft, which had Sanders going to the Cleveland Browns.

Our 2025 mock from Christian D’Andrea had Sanders to the Carolina Panthers. But the latest NFL mock draft from CBS also had Sanders to the Browns at No. 2, and there were three other QBs taken in the top-12: Miami’s Cam Ward to the Panthers, Georgia’s Carson Beck to the Raiders and Texas’s Quinn Ewers to the Giants.

Here’s the take on Sanders to the Browns from Josh Edwards:

Cleveland has overcommitted resources to a team going nowhere with Deshaun Watson as its quarterback. Shedeur Sanders is a potential way out for the franchise, but it loses the benefits of a quarterback on a rookie contract as they push Watson’s dead money forward.

Travis Hunter billed as country’s third-best player in ESPN’s midseason top 25

Is Travis Hunter the best player in college football? ESPN thinks otherwise

Colorado wide receiver/cornerback and Heisman hopeful Travis Hunter was listed at No. 3 in ESPN’s midseason top-25 college football player ranking, published Wednesday. Hunter was ranked behind Miami quarterback Cam Ward (No. 2) and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty (No. 1).

Hunter, a projected top pick in the 2025 NFL draft, has 587 receiving yards and six touchdowns thus far this season in addition to stellar play at cornerback. The senior has 16 total tackles, two interceptions, three pass breakups and a forced fumble on defense through six games.

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders also made the list, taking the No. 16 spot.

While appearing on the “Outta Pocket with RGIII” podcast, Hunter sounded off on his chances to win college football’s most prestigious award, the Heisman.

“I know I can win it,” Hunter said. “Y’all see Ashton Jeanty, it’s not like we haven’t seen a running back that’s good. We haven’t seen a player that plays both ways, and I’m gonna keep saying that.”

Browns take polarizing QB in new mock draft

Sitting with the No. 2 overall pick, a new quarterback makes a ton of sense.

Sitting at 1-5 on the season, the Cleveland Browns fanbase is in a familiar position: hunting mock drafts and looking for the next quarterback. In a new mock draft, the Browns get that new quarterback in the polarizing Colorado headliner Shedeur Sanders.

Daft on Draft had the Browns selecting the Colorado quarterback with the second overall pick in the draft. As for their reasoning? Take a look:

“The Browns owe their current quarterback (who sucks) $46 million annually. They need one on a rookie contract (who doesn’t suck), so they go out and get the only quarterback I think is truly worthy of being taken in the first round in this class in Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski finally has a quarterback who can stand in the pocket like an adult, throw with precision, and hit a backside dig in the face of pressure.”

It seems to be an issue, mainly among fans, that his dad and Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is going to meddle in his draft slot. The issue with this thought, however, is the millions Sanders would lose out on if he were to drop from the second overall pick to say, the tenth overall pick to the Las Vegas Raiders. This talking point is more than likely overblown.

Besides, you cannot tell me there is no intrigue to Deion and the quarterback to be the one to turn the Cleveland Browns around for good.

NFL mock draft from ESPN has Shedeur Sanders No. 1 overall to a sad franchise

This really bad franchise needs a new QB.

Let’s consider this the kickoff of 2025 NFL mock draft season.

We’ve already dropped a 2025 mock from our Christian D’Andrea and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders wasn’t even the first QB off the board (although he was projected to go No. 4 to the Carolina Panthers). But in the first 2025 NFL mock draft from ESPN courtesy of Jordan Reid, it’s Deion’s son off the board first overall to … the Cleveland Browns.

There’s so much to unpack here, like what the Browns would do with Deshaun Watson and all that dead cap money. But if you need a new QB, here you go.

Here’s what Reid wrote about the selection:

Sanders — currently my QB1 for the class — is a poised pocket passer whose game centers around his fantastic ball placement and good decision-making. His 72.6% completion rate ranks sixth in the nation. Sanders would be an ideal fit for Kevin Stefanski’s scheme, as he can operate from multiple platforms and has the pocket vision to immediately make an impact at the next level.

Back-to-back Buffaloes at the top of new 1-round mock draft update

Which Colorado superstar goes first in this new mock draft?

With one third of the NFL regular season in the books, we have a pretty good idea of where the weak spots are on all 32 NFL rosters. The trade deadline is almost upon us so before we see a final furious shuffling of players, we wanted to do a one-round mock draft for 2025.

The big question with this draft, like every draft is about the quarterbacks.
