Mariners at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Mariners 6, Braves 4

Moneyline

LEAN MARINERS (+120).

Seattle is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Atlanta and 8-3 in the last 11 meetings overall. The Mariners are also 5-0 in Gilbert’s last 5 starts after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. In their last 4 games vs. an opponent that allowed 2 or less runs in their previous games the Mariners are 4-0. The Braves are also using an opener in what figures to be a bullpen game.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Seattle +1.5 (-160) should hit but is a bit too risky of a line to bet on for this game. Instead bet on either the moneyline or the O/U.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9 (-110).

For Atlanta the Over is 5-1 in their last 6 when the opponent scored 2 or less runs in their previous outing and is 6-0 in their last 6 after allowing 2 or less runs in their previous game. For Seattle the Over 4-0 in Gilbert’s last 4 starts during game 2 of a series. The Over is also 8-3-1 in the last 12 meetings overall.

Mariners at Braves picks and predictions

Prediction

Braves 5, Mariners 3

Moneyline

With both teams having pitchers that have performed well thus far, I’ll back the BRAVES (-155) at home in Friday’s interleague matchup.

Run line/Against the spread

BRAVES -1.5 (+125) has decent value despite Miller allowing only 1 ER in 3 starts. Two of Miller’s 3 starts were against the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers, while the Braves are tied for the 8th-best ISO (.179) and have the 12th-best wOBA (.322) against right-handed pitchers.

In comparison, the Mariners are 20th in ISO (.149) and wOBA (.306) against right-handed pitching.

Over/Under

With Miller and Elder doing a formidable job limiting runs, I’ll take UNDER 8.5 (+100). We’ve seen rookie pitchers struggle after a few starts this season, but I believe Miller can prevent enough damage to help the Under hit.
