There is no way for Scotty Pippen Jr. to avoid it. As the Vanderbilt star travels the country doing workouts ahead of the NBA Draft on June 23, someone always has a story about his Hall-of-Fame father. Sharing the same name simply enhances it, even if Pippen Sr. spells his name “Scottie.” “Both of our names are originally with a ‘Y,’” Pippen Jr. said. “My dad’s name is with a ‘Y’ on his birth certificate, but he changed it to sign signatures. We’re both ‘Y,’ though.”

Alabama exits SEC Tournament in first game against Vanderbilt after an 82-76 loss

Alabama takes an early exit from the SEC Tournament following an 82-76 loss to Vandy

The Alabama Crimson Tide does not look like a team that wants to achieve success in March, as evidenced by their poor performance in its first-round game against the Vanderbilt Commodores in the Southeastern Conference Tournament.

Alabama turned the ball over 16 times and allowed the Commodores to get to the free-throw line for 45 shots.

Despite holding a 14-point lead during the second half and winning the rebound battle, the Tide couldn’t get it done when it mattered and are already out of the tournament.

Jaden Shackelford shot well for Alabama and led all Crimson Tide scorers with 21 points. Jahvon Quinerly followed with 13 points before fouling out late in the second half.

Scotty Pippen Jr led all scorers in the game with 25 points, despite most of them coming from the charity stripe. Myles Stute hit five threes en route to an 18-point night.

That makes three consecutive losses to end the season for the embattled Crimson Tide, who will hope to find their footing and get things together before they take the court during March Madness.

Alabama fans will now anticipate their seeding in the NCAA Tournament, which will be announced on championship Sunday.
