Recruiting insider: North Carolina offensive lineman Trenton Mitchell offered by Rutgers football

Rutgers football offered Trenton Mitchell on Monday night.

Rutgers football became the fifth Power Five offer for Trenton Mitchell.

A 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle from Ashford High School (Gastona, N.C.), Mitchell is beginning to see his recruitment take off. He recently pulled in a pair of Power Five offers.

In mid-April, he was offered by North Carolina State and Virginia Tech. A couple of weeks ago, he visited Maryland for their annual spring game.

With a good frame that can handle more weight in a strength and conditioning setting, Mitchell also has a nice wingspan.

His offer list from Power Five programs now stands at five: Maryland, North Carolina State, West Virginia and Virginia Tech as well as his recent Rutgers offer.

He tweeted about his offer from Rutgers on Monday night, tagging head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag] and offensive line assistant [autotag]Scott Vallone[/autotag]:

Rutgers made a splash over the weekend, landing four-star [autotag]Isaiah Crumpler[/autotag] from North Carolina.

Crumpler is ranked the No. 157 player in the nation according to On3. He chose Rutgers over Duke and East Carolina among others.

He cited his relationship with the coaching staff as well as the NFL experience of wide receivers coach Dave Brock in his recruitment as helping to play a role in his decision last week.

Were Mitchell to commit to Rutgers, he’d likely play for Pat Flaherty, who spent two decades in the NFL and won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants as their offensive line coach.

Florida standout offensive lineman Raynor Andrews offered by Rutgers football

Raynor Andrews was offered by Rutgers football on Thursday night.

Rutgers football has offered Raynor Andrews, an offensive lineman out of Florida who is beginning to blow-up on the recruiting trail.

Andrews, unranked by Rivals or 247Sports, has multiple Power Five offers including Colorado, Florida State, Syracuse as well as future Big 12 member Central Florida. On Thursday, Rutgers officially offered Andrews.

A 6-foot-6 and 315-pound offensive tackle from Miami Jackson High School (Miami, FL), Raynor is a class of 2024 recruit. He is an impressive recruit, who combines impressive size, reach and power along with agility.

He moves well and has the athleticism to get to the second level.

He tweeted about the offer on Thursday night, tagging Rutgers head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag] as well as offensive line assistant [autotag]Scott Vallone[/autotag].

Raynor is a target for Rutgers as they look to rebuild their line following the hire of offensive line coach Pat Flaherty. A former two-time Super Bowl winner as a coach with the New York Giants, Flaherty was praised by quarterback Eli Manning last week for his impact in shaping the franchise’s two championship teams.

The Rutgers football 2024 recruiting class is off to a solid start and includes offensive lineman Kenny Jones, a three-star from New Jersey, who committed in November. Joining Jones this year are four-star running back Gabriel Winowich from Michigan and A.J. Surace, the top-ranked quarterback in New Jersey this recruiting cycle.

The Rutgers football tandem of Pat Flaherty and Scott Vallone leaving an impression on three-star Jack Hines

Rutgers football is seeing positive returns from the new offensive line coaching duo of Pat Flaherty and Scott Vallone.

There may not be a better or more accomplished offensive line coach in college football than Pat Flaherty, who is returning to Rutgers football after 35 years away from the program. He returns with Super Bowl rings and nearly two decades of NFL experience.

Named the new offensive line coach at Rutgers in early February, Flaherty won two Super Bowl titles with the New York Giants, where he spent 11 seasons total with the franchise. He was with six NFL teams in his nearly 20 years in the league.

Consider Jack Hines, one of the top offensive linemen in the Northeast and a player who is a priority recruit for Rutgers football. The three-star recruit, who has recently been offered by North Carolina as well as Florida State, said that Flaherty’s resume is certainly impressive.

“He’s a really good guy, definitely knows what he talking about,” Hines told Rutgers Wire about Flaherty.

“I’m very excited to keep building our relationship.

“He is a down-to-earth man that has been around for a while.”

Hines is an offensive tackle at Avon Old Farms (Avon, CT). He is ranked the No. 8 prospect in Connecticut by 247Sports and the No. 64 offensive tackle in the nation.

Flaherty’s skillset as a coach is certainly impressive and unique in college football. He is partnered at Rutgers with Scott Vallone, who was named offensive line assistant in mid-February.

Vallone, a former Rutgers standout defensive lineman, is starting to grow and expand his coaching career. He was a four-star recruit out of Long Island who, upon graduating from Rutgers in 2012, spent time in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and Detroit Lions.

“He’s a younger guy who went through it and knows what he is talking about,” Hines said.

Preston Carey, an eighth grade who can bench 315 pounds and squat 405 pounds, talks Rutgers football offer

Preston Carey talks about his recent Rutgers football offer.

Over the weekend, Long Island eighth-grader Preston Carey was offered by Rutgers football. It was all part of a big weekend for Carey that includes being awarded the MVP at the prestigious FBU camp in New Jersey.

Carey, who turned 15-years old this spring, is a defensive line prospect who will be enrolling at one of the top programs in New York (more on that a little bit later). He visited Rutgers football over the weekend, meeting with head coach Greg Schiano and assistant coach Scott Vallone.

In June, Carey has added offers that includes Georgia and Michigan.

The ties to Long Island are strong for Rutgers. Two current members of the 2023 recruiting class for Rutgers, wide receiver Dylan Braithwaite and safety Ian Strong, are among Long Island’s best players.

A former NFL player and a standout at Rutgers, Vallone hails from Long Island where he played at St. Anthony’s. He was a class of 2008 recruit who had offers that included Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina State and Virginia among others.

Vallone was a four-star recruit coming out of high school.

Carey is likely to blow-up soon, especially after his performance at FBU. He told RutgersWire that he can bench 315-pounds and squat 405 pounds. Not shockingly, he has been working out in a gym and conditioning since he was 10-years old.

Check out what Preston Carey had to say about his visit to Rutgers football, the offer from the Big Ten program as well as his performance at FBU…as well as where he will play his high school football starting this fall!
