Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama vs. LSU

Alabama takes on LSU at night in Death Valley. See the staff’s predictions and analysis!

A top-10 matchup is set to take place in Baton Rouge on Saturday night as the No. 6 Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the No. 10 LSU Tigers.

Tiger Stadium will be rocking and Alabama will need to play a clean game in order to avoid another road upset. With their backs against the wall, it is time for the Tide to show just how good they can be here in 2022.

[autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] has practiced more over the last couple of weeks and that surely improved the chemistry of the offense. If Bill O’Brien can come up with some creative plays, this Alabama offense can exploit the LSU defense.

[autotag]Will Anderson[/autotag] has been somewhat quiet over the last couple of games and he will most likely be matched up with a true freshman at offensive tackle. Anderson and company should be able to apply plenty of pressure on Tiger quarterback Jayden Daniels. That is most likely where they game will be won or lost for the Crimson Tide.

As we do each and every week, here are the staff predictions for Alabama vs. LSU.

Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for Alabama vs. Tennessee

The Roll Tide Wire staff shares score projections and analysis ahead of the matchup against Tennessee.

When [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team take to the field inside Neyland Stadium tomorrow, they will be searching for the 16th consecutive win over the Tennessee Volunteers.

Second-year Vols coach Josh Heupel has brought a newfound sense of belief and a promising future to Tennessee with his faster-than-the-speed-of-light offense that is led by quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Alabama could be without its reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] for the second week in a row and that has many folks around the country eager to pick the Vols to pull off the upset and put an end to a decade and a half of misery.

Let’s take a look at the predictions for the staff here at Roll Tide Wire!

Who will come out on top between Alabama and Texas? Experts are weighing in.

Alabama enters Week 2 of the 2022 college football season as the top-ranked team in the nation and will hit the road to travel to Austin, Texas to face the Texas Longhorns in a highly-anticipated matchup between to of the game’s biggest and most respected brands.

While Alabama is ranked No. 1, Texas is not ranked at all in the latest poll. An upset would surely put them in the rankings, and potentially playoff contention, while the remainder of Alabama’s season would likely be damage control.

However, many experts are leaning in favor of the Crimson Tide on this one. Various experts from media outlets all across the country have made their picks and score predictions.

What are the statistical chances Alabama is upset in the 2021 Iron Bowl?

Alabama looks to finish the regular season 11-1, but could Auburn get in the way of that?

Alabama and Auburn are set to square off in the 2021 edition of the Iron Bowl. This season, the famed rivalry will take place in Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, which always makes for interesting games.

Alabama has certainly seemed like the stronger team, as the program looks to win big for a chance to play for another national championship; and Auburn has not only looked weaker than usual, but starting quarterback Bo Nix is out for the season with injury. All signs point to the Crimson Tide winning, but nothing can be certain.

ESPN gives us the statistical chances that the Crimson Tide will drop the final game of the regular season to Auburn.

According to ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI), Alabama has a 81.5% chance of winning the 2021 Iron Bowl, and 18.5% chance of losing.

Bryan Harsin in his first year coaching the Tigers, TJ Finley stepping up as the starter and an Auburn fanbase that will most likely count this as their biggest game of the season could make for an uniquely interesting contest.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover the Crimson Tide as Nick Saban & Co. stroll into Auburn seeking a regular season record of 11-1.

Final score predictions for Oregon Ducks Pac-12 opener vs. Arizona Wildcats

On paper, the Ducks should have an easy path to beating Arizona. But we’ve seen the Wildcats play the role of giant-killers before.

The college football landscape has produced some interesting results on Saturday of Week 4. No. 7 Clemson was tested by No. 16 Arkansas in overtime; No. 14 Iowa State faced an uphill battle against Baylor, and No. 9 Clemson had all it could handle with North Carolina State. Even No. 23 Auburn struggled against Georgia State.

That’s certainly something to think about for Oregon Duck fans to take note of going into their conference opener against the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday night. While many betting lines have the Ducks favored by somewhere between 28-32 points, a Pac-12 opponent is never someone that you can look past, especially when we’re talking about Arizona.

[lawrence-related id=8724]

Luckily for Oregon, they are expected to have some of their best players back from injury in time for this game. While we still don’t know the status of star defender Kayvon Thibodeaux, who was labeled as day-to-day earlier this week, the Ducks expect to have QB Anthony Brown, LBs Keith Brown and Mase Funa, and WR Troy Franklin all back for this game. With those players on the field, plus a new confidence in the complete depth of this team after a dominant second half against Stony Brook, Oregon fans should still have great confidence going into this one.

In reality, this game against the Wildcats should theoretically resemble to matchup vs. the Seawolves last week. Arizona is near the bottom of the Pac-12, with 15 straight losses to their name. The Ducks will look to get out on top early in the first half, and coast to the finish while hopefully playing a number of underclassmen and backups in the second half.

[lawrence-related id=8739]

So how will the Ducks try to build a lead? Expect a heavy dose of the ground game early, and don’t be shocked if Brown cuts it loose a little bit through the air for once. We haven’t seen the receiving core in Oregon put up many big numbers yet this season, but it feels like with students back in Autzen Stadium for a night game, they might want to create some highlight plays.

Beyond the offense, it will be on Oregon’s defense to be as dominant as we saw last week, holding the Wildcats’ offense quiet and allowing Joe Moorhead and his squad to build a lead.

As always, though, the main goal is to take care of business, leave with a win, and do whatever you can to stay healthy.

Final Score Prediction: Oregon 49, Arizona 10

Alabama looks to play a complete game against Southern Miss

Alabama should beat Southern Miss easily, but the question is, will they dominate for sixty minutes?

No. 1 Alabama has started the 2021 season undefeated with a 3-0 record. For most schools, that’s enough, but at Alabama, you are not just expected to win, you are expected to completely dominate.

As Alabama heads into week four, the question remains, can Alabama play a complete sixty-minute football game?

Southern Miss enters the contest with a 1-2 record. Let’s take a look at the Golden Eagles.

Southern Miss Preview:

Offensively, you are going to recognize one name, Frank Gore Jr., the starting running back for the Golden Eagles. Gore is the son of NFL running back Frank Gore. Gore is the playmaker for the Golden Eagle offense and if Alabama can limit explosive plays from Gore, the Tide should make quick work on defense.

At quarterback, the Golden Eagles have been inconsistent. Starter Trey Lowe is expected to miss with an injury. Lowe actually has a connection with the Tide. His grandfather Woodrow played linebacker for Alabama from 1972-75. He was a three-time All-American for the Crimson Tide.

Freshman Ty Keyes has stepped in for Lowe but has only completed 52.6% of his passes for just one touchdown and two interceptions. Keyes has also been sacked 10 times.

If there was ever a game that the Alabama defensive line should dominate, it’s this week against Southern Miss. Through three games the Southern Miss quarterbacks have been sacked 16 times.

Defensively, the Golden Eagles have been decent. But their competition hasn’t been the strongest.

Southern Miss has been stout against the run, giving up just 43.7 yards rushing per game, but as I mentioned, the competition has not been great. The Alabama offense should be able to move around the Golden Eagle defense with relative ease.

Alabama Preview:

We know all the stats for both sides of the ball for the Tide. So for the preview, let’s just look at what I believe we need to see from Alabama on Saturday.

The Alabama offensive line needs to play mistake-free football and consistently push around the Southern Miss defensive front. The running game needs to be a focal point and it needs to be explosive. Bryce Young needs to be more consistent on the deep ball and the wideouts need to create more separation and cut down on dropped passes. Overall the offense needs to play a complete game for the entire sixty minutes.

It is much of the same for the Alabama defense. The guys up front need to penetrate consistently and make plays in the backfield. The linebackers need to fill the proper lanes and make the tackle. The secondary needs to take proper angles and like the linebackers, make the tackle.

There is too much talent on the Alabama defense to not play better than what they did this past Saturday. Let’s see if they can regroup and get better.

Overall Thoughts:

It’s really simple for Alabama this weekend, play a complete sixty-minute football game with the same intensity and focus from start to finish.

I believe Alabama will prove they have what it takes to be a championship football team. The talent is there, let’s see if the leadership and intangibles are there too.

Score Prediction: Alabama 56 Southern Miss 7

Final score prediction for Saints vs. Buccaneers

The New Orleans Saints have a favorable matchup against a familiar opponent in the Divisional Round with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The New Orleans Saints’ season could end in just a few days. That’s what’s at stake in their Divisional Round game: single-loss elimination. It just adds more pressure onto them to take care of business against a familiar opponent in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Bucs quarterback Tom Brady has never been beaten three times in a single season, a fact that’s been all the rage in the discourse surrounding this matchup. But Brady had never been beaten twice in a single season before the Saints did it, so don’t let that weigh too heavily on your mind. Besides, three-game sweeps are more common than the narratives might suggest.

Anyway: let’s dive into the matchup and take a shot at maybe our final score prediction of the year.

Final score prediction for Saints vs. Bears

The New Orleans Saints have a favorable matchup against a familiar opponent in the Wild-Card Round with the Chicago Bears.

Super Bowl LV is only weeks away, but the New Orleans Saints can’t afford to look too far ahead. Instead, they should look back — all the way back to their first playoffs loss with Sean Payton coaching the team. The Chicago Bears eliminated them back in the 2006 postseason, and now the Saints have a golden opportunity to return the favor.
