5 takeaways from the Patriots’ 2023 schedule

Takeaways from the Patriots’ brutal 2023 schedule.

The New England Patriots will have their work cut out for them to finish with a winning record, much less make the playoffs in the 2023 season.

A brutal slate of opponents will test the many changes that came with the roster and coaching staff in the offseason. So what initially seemed like two steps forward might feel like two steps back for a Patriots team that has missed the playoffs in two of the last three seasons.

With that said, it would be foolish to write the team off before they even step onto the field. The defense was already really good last season, and with the additions they’ve made through the NFL draft, they have the potential to be a top-three unit this time around.

As for the offense, they should be much-improved in that area with Bill O’Brien and Adrian Klemm joining the coaching staff. Time will tell if it’s enough to actually get them over the hump.

Here are five takeaways from the Patriots’ 2023 schedule:

Cardinals trolled 2023 opponents: What about the Commanders?

The Cardinals used songs to reveal their 2023 schedule. Poor Major Tuddy.

While fans and the media may be indifferent to the NFL’s annual schedule release, the teams are not. Sure, coaches and quarterbacks aren’t anxiously refreshing Twitter to see the new schedule, but social media teams from all 32 NFL teams, well, this is like their Super Bowl.

There were some excellent schedule release videos Thursday. The Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and, yes, even the Washington Commanders had some good, creative content ready for the 8:00 p.m. ET release.

Another one of those teams with a creative way to reveal the new schedule was the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals used songs to reveal each opponent on their schedule. And there were some excellent choices. Arizona’s Week 1 opponent, the Commanders, used their mascot, a pig named Major Tuddy, to help reveal their schedule.

The Cardinals had some fun with Major Tuddy. Arizona’s song for Washington: “It’s Peppa Pig.”

Yes, that’s right, the long-running children’s show has a theme song. Check it out.

Pretty creative.

Let’s just say I didn’t think I’d be talking about Peppa the Pig and the NFL.

Congratulations, Cardinals. Well done.

Commanders 2023 schedule: Game-by-game score predictions

Let’s have some fun. Predicting the outcome of every Commanders’ game in 2023.

The NFL released the 2023 schedule Thursday night, and fans of all 32 teams are preparing accommodations for a trip to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.

We are kidding — sort of.

The schedule release is just another day on the NFL calendar for many fans. After all, every team’s schedule is set the moment the previous season ends. We know the who for months, but on schedule release day, we know the when.

Credit the NFL for turning yet another ho-hum announcement into an annual event.

One thing is certain; optimism is everywhere when the new schedule is released. Fans are going game-by-game, marking off what they think will be wins and which will be losses.

Therefore, we are going to do the same. Yes, it’s obviously way too early to make game-by-game predictions, but let’s have a little fun.

What do fans think of the Commanders’ 2023 schedule?

The schedule release may not be as popular as the NFL draft, but fans still care. For some, it’s about mapping out a schedule to travel to games in the fall. For others, it’s simply putting the schedule before you and marking the Ws and Ls.

The Commanders open up with a game against perhaps the worst team in the NFL: the Arizona Cardinals. They head West in Week 2 for a winnable matchup against the Denver Broncos before meeting a pair of Super Bowl contenders in Weeks 3 [Bills] and 4 [Eagles].

From Week 7 on, Washington faces a difficult slate in which most of the teams on its schedule made the playoffs last season.

Tom Brady makes appearance in epic Patriots schedule release video

Past Patriots stars reunite for this epic 2023 schedule release video.

The New England Patriots must have locked in like the second half of Super LI when making their 2023 schedule release video.

On Thursday night, the team dropped an epic video that included a multitude of retired Patriots players, including Devin McCourty, Rob Ninkovich, Andre Tippett, James White and others.

It even included an unexpected appearance from legendary quarterback Tom Brady.

The concept of the video centers around McCourty entering the Patriots’ “retirement house” with the team’s scheduled 2023 meetings popping up throughout the multiple vignettes. Along with Brady, there are also mentions of other Patriots greats, like former receiver Julian Edelman and tight end Rob Gronkowski.

The addition of Brady is a feel-good moment for Patriots fans. There will be plenty more to come with the future Hall of Famer slated to be honored in the team’s home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

It isn’t a pretty schedule for the Patriots, who will face a murderer’s row slate of opponents filled with expected playoff contenders. But the return of Brady, at least for now, takes away some of the sting before the season arrives.

Twitter reacts to Patriots’ brutal 2023 schedule

Here’s what people are saying about the Patriots’ scary gauntlet of opponents in 2023.

The NFL released its schedules on Thursday night, and the New England Patriots got an idea of who they will play for the 2023 season.

The schedule is not easy, and New England faces an immediate test as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles in the season opener.

They will also take on the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. To say the schedule will be a difficult one would be an understatement. Nevertheless, this is a crucial year for the organization.

Let’s take a look at some of the strong reactions coming in on Twitter to New England’s 2023 schedule reveal:

WATCH: Commanders use mascot to reveal schedule

The Commanders used Major Tuddy to reveal 2023 schedule.

The next big day on the NFL calendar after the NFL draft is now schedule release day. While some fans don’t care, others do, and teams are following suit to take advantage of those who do care.

The new annual craze is NFL teams using social media creatively to announce the new schedule. One of the best in recent years has been the Denver Broncos, who used legendary quarterback Peyton Manning and the team’s mascot as a part of the schedule release videos. Manning and the Broncos did it again this year.

The Washington Commanders, with their new mascot, Major Tuddy — and head coach Ron Rivera — also got creative with their schedule release.

The Washington Commanders’ complete 2023 schedule is here.

The Washington Commanders open the 2023 season home at FedEx Field for the fourth consecutive season with the Arizona Cardinals coming to town. The Cardinals finished last season with a 4-13 record. Arizona has a new head coach in former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

Washington’s 2023 schedule features just one prime-time game: Week 5 at home against the Chicago Bears. Interestingly enough, the two teams played in Week 6 on Thursday Night Football last season.

The Commanders have three trips West, the first of which is Week 2 at Denver.

Washington’s four games against the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles are all 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff times. However, Washington plays at Dallas on Thanksgiving and hosts the Cowboys in the regular-season finale again. The NFL has left that game open as a flex possibility.

Report: Commanders to host the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1

Washington hosts Arizona in Week 1.

[connatix div_id=”3f8b015acdd24c648befc5d5dac47469″ player_id=”afe1e038-d3c2-49c0-922d-6511a229f69c” cid=”7cbcea0d-4ce2-4c75-9a8d-fbe02a192c24″]

The Washington Commanders will begin the 2023 season at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Kevin Sheehan of The Team 980 had the story first.

Hosting the Cardinals to kick off a new era — Washington’s first game without Daniel Snyder as the owner — made sense for the Commanders. Washington has had trouble filling FedEx Field with its own fans in recent years, so there is hope that Commanders’ fans will pack FedEx Field for Week 1. The team hopes a new owner combined with a new season will be enough to get fans excited.

Scheduling an NFC East foe at home for Week 1 never made sense. Dallas, New York and Philadelphia fans have often packed FedEx Field, and the Commanders wanted to host a full stadium in front of their own fans. The Cardinals don’t have the same type of national following as the division rivals or other teams on the home schedule, such as the Buffalo Bills or Chicago Bears.

Many predict that the Cardinals could be the worst team in the NFL in 2023.
