St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues (10-8-2) travel to meet the San Jose Sharks (7-8-2) Saturday with a 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop at SAP Center. Below, we analyze the Blues-Sharks odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Blues at Sharks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Blues -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Sharks +135 (bet $100 to win $135)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Blues -1.5 (+170) | Sharks +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Blues at Sharks: Projected starting goalies

Jordan Binnington (8-6-2, 2.49 GAA, .914 SV%) vs. Devan Dubnyk (1-3-1, 2.88 GAA, .910 SV%)

Binnington enters on a three-game losing skid, allowing a total of 9 goals across his past three outings. That includes 5 goals allowed on just 27 shots against the Sharks last Saturday. That outing followed a 3-2 overtime win against San Jose. He is 2-1-1 with a 2.93 GAA and .902 SV% in four starts against the Sharks this season.

Dubnyk relieved starter Martin Jones against the Minnesota Wild Monday and stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced. His last completed game was a win over the Blues last Saturday in which he turned aside 28 of 32 shots.

Blues at Sharks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sharks 3, Blues 2

Money line (ML)

Back the home underdogs, as the SHARKS (+135) have played the Blues tough all season. They’re 2-1-1 against the Blues so far, and all of the games were decided by one goal.

St. Louis is also just 1-4 in its past five games as a favorite, and 1-4 in its previous five against teams with a losing record, too.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SHARKS +1.5 (-200) are not as great of a value on the puck line, but they’re worth pursuing since all four meetings this season have been decided by a ginle goal, including one overtime decision and a shootout.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the lean in this battle as the trends for both sides lately point to an Under.

The Under is 4-1 in the past five games for the Blues while going 7-2 in their past nine as road favorites. Binnington allowed exactly 1 goal in each of his last three road starts, too.

Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Anaheim Ducks at San Jose Sharks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Anaheim Ducks (6-6-3) visit the San Jose Sharks (5-7-1) Monday for a 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop. Below we analyze the Ducks-Sharks NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Ducks at Sharks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:15 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Ducks -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Sharks +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Ducks -1.5 (+225) | Sharks +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Ducks at Sharks: Projected starting goalies

John Gibson (5-4-3, .923 SV%, 2.26 GAA, 3 SO) at Martin Jones (5-4-0, .867 SV%, 3.96 GAA)

Gibson posted an impressive 21-save shutout in a 1-0 road win at the Vegas Golden Knights his last time out. It was his third shutout of the season; however, the last time he faced the Sharks, in his previous outing Feb. 5, he coughed up four goals on 30 shots in a shootout loss.

Jones allowed three goals on 26 shots in a start Saturday against Vegas. While he and the Sharks fell 3-1 in that outing, it might have been one of his best showings of the season, as his teammates left him out to dry a bit and all three goals came on the power play. Jones has allowed three or more goals in eight of his nine appearances this season, but perhaps Saturday’s outing will give him a little confidence moving forward.

Ducks at Sharks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Ducks 3, Sharks 2

Money line (ML)

The DUCKS (-115) have the hotter goaltender, and that will be the difference in the game.

Yes, Jones was a little better against VGK over the weekend, but Gibson has posted three shutouts already this season and he has been carrying this rather toothless Ducks team on his back.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

I wouldn’t trust the Ducks -1.5 (+225) to win by 2 or more goals, although it is tempting at this price point.

The way Jones has routinely allowed the red light to go off, he might have a sunburn on the back of his neck. No way you can trust the Sharks +1.5 (-275) laying this kind of scratch, either.

PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-115) might be the best play on the board. Yes, Jones has been a sieve, but Anaheim ranks last in the NHL with just 1.93 goals per game, and it is 30th in shots on goal (26.7 per game) and 29th on the power play (8.82%).

Conversely, the Ducks are rather solid on the penalty kill, ranking third in the NHL (87.18%). San Jose isn’t much better flicking on the lamp, ranking 27th with 2.38 goals per game, although the Sharks are 28th with 3.69 goals allowed per game.

Vegas Golden Knights at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Anaheim Ducks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Vegas Golden Knights (8-2-1) visit the San Jose Sharks (5-6-1) Saturday for a 4 p.m. ET puck drop. Below we analyze the Golden Knights-Sharks NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Golden Knights at Sharks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:16 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Sharks +165 (bet $100 to win $165)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Golden Knights -1.5 (+135) | Sharks +1.5 (-160)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Golden Knights at Sharks: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury (5-1-0, 1.68 GAA, .929 SV%, 1 SO) at Martin Jones (5-3-0, 4.09 GAA, .865 SV%)

Fleury was on the short end of a 1-0 loss against the visiting Anaheim Ducks Thursday, but he was stupendous in turning aside 27 of 28 shots. He has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his six starts. Fleury hasn’t faced the Sharks this season, but he was a solid 2-0-1 with a 1.31 GAA and .953 SV% in three starts vs. them last season.

Jones has been up and down so far. After allowing three or more goals in four of his first five starts, he opened February with back-to-back shootout wins. But he coughed up six goals on 26 shots in a 6-2 loss at the Los Angeles Kings Thursday.

Golden Knights at Sharks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 6, Sharks 2

Money line (ML)

The Golden Knights (-200) will cost you two times your potential return, which is just a little too costly for my blood. My personal ML limit is -180. AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+135) are on the road, and backing the away team on the puck line is always a risky proposition. However, the Knights should be able to score on Jones and the Sharks in this one. Plus, they’re due after getting blanked by the Ducks last time out.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have lost by three or more goals in four of their past five losses.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6.5 (-105) is worth playing lightly. Vegas has the potential to hit the Over on its own, or come pretty close to it against the shaky Jones. The Over is 5-2 in the past seven for Vegas against teams with a losing record, and the Over is 4-1 in VGK’s past five as a favorite. The Over is 10-4 in San Jose’s past 14 overall, and 8-3 in the past 11 as an underdog.

San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The San Jose Sharks (5-5-1) close out a two-game set with the Los Angeles Kings (3-6-3) in a Thursday night battle at Staples Center. Puck drop will be at 10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Kings NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Sharks at Kings: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks -125 (bet $125 to win $100) | Kings +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks -1.5 (+200) | Kings +1.5 (-250)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Sharks at Kings: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (5-2-0, .878 SV%, 3.70 GAA) vs. Jonathan Quick (2-2-2, .867 SV%, 4.05 GAA)

Jones stopped 24 of 27 shots on goal in a 4-3 Sharks victory Tuesday. One of the three goals he allowed was of the extra-man variety. Jones logged a .943 SV% in two starts against Los Angeles last season.

Quick is looking for a bounce-back effort after being pulled 21 minutes into his last start (Feb. 5 vs. Vegas Golden Knights). The veteran netminder coughed up 4 goals on just 10 shots in that start and owns a .763 SV% over his last two starts. Quick was roughed up by the Sharks last season, posting an .830 SV% in two turns against San Jose.

Sharks at Kings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sharks 3, Kings 2

Money line (ML)

The Kings have been trending the wrong way in their Corsi-for numbers, and over its last four games, L.A. has allowed an average of 38 shots on goal.

TAG THE SHARKS -125 AS LEAN. A play in the -115 to -120 range would be more palatable.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

San Jose has been feast or famine in its results and its puck-possession numbers. An all-road slate could well be taking its toll; a potential look-ahead to a Saturday home debut chips away at the value in a puck-line play.

PASS unless you can get the Sharks in the neighborhood of +220.

Over/Under (O/U)

Figue on some tightened-up Game 2 gravity and the Kings are due for some better goaltending. TAKE THE UNDER 6 (-110).

San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s San Jose Sharks at Los Angeles Kings NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The San Jose Sharks (4-5-1) and Los Angeles Kings (3-6-2) begin a two-game set at Staples Center Tuesday with a 10 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Kings NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Sharks at Kings: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:10 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks -115 (bet $115 to win $100) | Kings +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks -1.5 (+220) | Kings +1.5 (-275)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Sharks at Kings: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (4-2-0 .876 SV%, 3.87 GAA) vs. Jonathan Quick (2-2-2, .867 SV%, 4.05 GAA)

Jones continues to be slated in as the No. 1 netminder in San Jose and will face his former team once again Tuesday; he has a .930 SV% and 2.08 GAA in 20 career games against the Kings with a 13-4-3 record. He allowed 4 goals on 37 shots in a win over the Anaheim Ducks Friday.

Quick was charged with the loss in each of his last two games, Jan. 28 and Feb. 5, while allowing a total of 9 goals on just 38 shots in losses to the Vegas Golden Knights and Minnesota Wild. He has allowed 3 or more goals in all but one outing.

Sharks at Kings: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sharks 4, Kings 2

Money line (ML)

Let’s go with the SHARKS (-115) as modest road favorites with Jones getting the sizable edge in the goaltending battle against his former team. The Sharks went to a shootout in both halves of their two-game set with the Ducks; they won 5-4 in Game 1 and lost 2-1 in Game 2. The Kings have dropped four straight with all but their most recent coming by at least a 2-goal margin.

Both teams are in the bottom eight of the NHL in Corsi For percentage and scoring chances at 5-on-5, but the Sharks have a slight edge in both categories.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Stick with the SHARKS -1.5 (+220) and back the visitors to win by 2 or more goals. They’re 6-4 ATS while the Kings are 7-4.

The Kings have the slightly better power-play unit, but the Sharks are better on the penalty kill while ranking third in the NHL at a success rate of 86.49%. Both teams are similarly disciplined with the Sharks taking 8.8 minutes in penalties per game and the Kings taking 8.5. They’re both in the top 10 in opponent penalty minutes drawn per game.

Over/Under (O/U)

I’ll PASS on the total on a flat 6, as it matches my predicted score. The OVER 5.5 (-135) isn’t a bad play on the alternate line for some value.

San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The San Jose Sharks (3-4-0) travel to meet the Colorado Avalanche (4-3-0) at Ball Arena Thursday for a 9 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Avalanche NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Sharks at Avalanche: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:56 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks +210 (bet $100 to win $210) | Avalanche -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks +1.5 (-130) | Avalanche -1.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Sharks at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Devan Dubnyk (0-2-0, 3.29 GAA, .894 SV%) at Philipp Grubauer (4-2-0, 2.17 GAA, .919 SV%)

Dubnyk is likely to be tabbed for the start after G Martin Jones was pounded for five goals on just 19 shots before getting pulled early in the second period of Tuesday’s 7-3 loss in the front end of this back-to-back set. Dubnyk came on and yielded two goals on 23 shots in his 34:12 of action.

Grubauer turned aside 27 of the 30 Sharks shots he faced, and he received all the offensive support he could possibly need. He has allowed three or fewer goals in each of his past five starts since a setback in the opener against the St. Louis Blues Jan. 13 when he coughed up four goals.

Sharks at Avalanche: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Sharks 2

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-250) laying this kind of number is just too much, even though they’re a good bet to win. Look to the puck line instead for a much better value. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

The AVALANCHE -1.5 (+105) at near even-money is a much better play than risking two and a half times your return on the money line. While Colorado has covered the puck line in just two of its four wins to date, one of those covers came in Tuesday’s 7-3 win vs. the Sharks.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6.5 (+100) is the lean, although play it lightly. Grubauer hasn’t been in a very giving mood, so Colorado will have to do the heavy lifting. While the Avs broke out for seven goals Tuesday, they have scored three or fewer in five of their seven games overall. The good news is that the Over is 7-3-1 in the past 11 meetings in Colorado, and 19-7-3 in the past 29 overall in this series.

The San Jose Sharks (3-3-0) visit the Colorado Avalanche (3-3-0) Tuesday at Ball Arena for a 9 p.m. ET puck drop. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Avalanche odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Sharks at Avalanche: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks +185 (bet $100 to win $185) | Avalanche -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks +1.5 (-150) | Avalanche -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Sharks at Avalanche: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (3-1-0, 3.06 GAA, .894 SV%) at Philipp Grubauer (3-2-0, 2.01 GAA, .923 SV%, 1 SO)

Jones has posted three victories in four outings, but offensive support has been the name of the game. He has allowed three or more goals in three of his outings. The good news is that he has picked up two victories in two shootouts, standing tall in the extra sessions.

Grubauer started off shaky with four goals allowed on 32 shots in an opening-season loss to the St. Louis Blues Jan. 13. Since then, he has coughed up just six total goals in four starts. His only loss during the span was last time out against the Anaheim Ducks, surrendering two goals on just 14 shots a 3-1 setback Sunday.

Sharks at Avalanche: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Avalanche 5, Sharks 3

Money line (ML)

The Avalanche (-225) will cost you more than two times your potential return on home ice, and that’s not a good long-term betting strategy. AVOID and look to the puck line instead.

Against the spread (ATS)

COLORADO -1.5 (+125) is a good bet on home ice. Sure, only one of Jones’ three victories covered the puck line, but he is due. Jones has been very giving, and Colorado will get to him for several goals. The Sharks have struggled in Denver, winning just twice in the past seven tries, and the home team is 37-14 in the previous 51 meetings.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-120) is generally the rule when these teams hook up, going 18-7-3 in the past 28 meetings. In addition, the Over has hit in four of six for the Sharks, while going 1-1 in two home games for the Avalanche. Colorado has actually had some difficulty finding the back of the net, which is surprising given its depth up front. Eventually the Avs will break out, and I think they have a good chance to score plenty against Jones.

San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The St. Louis Blues (2-1-0) and San Jose Sharks (1-2-0) meet for the second time in three days at Enterprise Center for a 9 p.m. ET puck drop Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Blues NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Blues came away with a 5-4 victory Monday with W Jordan Kyrou scoring the winner midway through the third period. The Blues outshot the Sharks 33-26.

Sharks at Blues: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks +160 (bet $100 to win $160) | Blues -190 (bet $190 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks +1.5 (-165) | Blues -1.5 (+140)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Sharks at Blues: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (1-1-0, .869 SV%, 4.34 GAA) vs. Jordan Binnington (2-1-0, .883 SV%, 3.38 GAA)

Jones is expected to return to the crease Wednesday after Devan Dubnyk took the loss Monday against the Blues. Jones was pulled from his last start after allowing 5 goals on just 24 shots against the Arizona Coyotes Saturday.

Binnington expects to see an increased workload this season after former backup Jake Allen was dealt in the offseason. The 27-year-old Binnington posted a .912 save percentage and 2.56 goals against average last season after winning the Stanley Cup as a rookie in 2018-19.

Sharks at Blues: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Blues 4, Sharks 1

Money line (ML)

The BLUES (-190) dominated the Sharks last time around and were unlucky to come away with just a one-goal victory. They registered 24 scoring chances at 5-on-5 to just 8 for the Sharks. Two of San Jose’s 4 goals in the game came on three power-play opportunities while St. Louis went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Blues also controlled puck possession with 60.87% of the total shot attempts (including blocked and missed shots) at full strength.

The lineups remain the same Wednesday and the Blues retain a significant advantage in the goaltending battle. Lock-in the home side.

Against the spread (ATS)

Expect a better performance from Binnington in this second meeting with the Sharks. Back the BLUES -1.5 (+140) following their clinic in puck possession Monday.

San Jose figures to improve on last season’s disaster but through three games, it doesn’t seem as though it’ll be a quick turnaround.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 6 (-120) while expecting Binnington to keep the doors closed. He held the powerful Colorado Avalanche to just 1 goal on 27 shots in his season debut but has allowed 8 goals on 50 total shots in his last two outings.

Game 1 is much more in line with his career performance.

San Jose Sharks at Arizona Coyotes odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s San Jose Sharks at Arizona Coyotes NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The San Jose Sharks visit the Arizona Coyotes Thursday at Gila River Arena in the 2021 season-opener for both teams. Puck drop will be at 9 p.m. ET between the West Division rivals. Below, we analyze the Sharks-Coyotes NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Sharks at Coyotes: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sharks +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Coyotes -130 (bet $130 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sharks +1.5 (-250) | Coyotes -1.5 (+200)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Sharks at Coyotes: Projected starting goalies

Martin Jones (17-21-2, .896 SV%, 3.00 GAA) vs. Darcy Kuemper (16-11-2, .928 SV%, 2.22 GAA)

Jones had an awful 2019-20 season with a career-worst goals against average. Devan Dubnyk was brought in to back him up this season, but Jones figures to get the first crack at the No. 1 job early on.

Kuemper was stellar last season but was limited to just 29 games in the regular season. He made nine playoff starts with a .913 save percentage but 3.47 GAA. He was required to make 40-plus saves in three of those nine games.

Sharks at Coyotes: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sharks 4, Coyotes 3

Money line (ML)

The SHARKS (+110) are coming off a nightmare 2019-20 season in which they went 29-36-5 over 70 games and finished last in the Pacific Division. C Joe Thornton followed W Joe Pavelski out the door via free agency, but Logan CoutureEvander Kane and Tomas Hertl all return to lead the forward group and Patrick Marleau returns after leaving following the 2016-17 season. The Coyotes lost LW Taylor Hall to free agency.

The Sharks defense, led by Erik KarlssonBrent Burns and Marc-Edouard Vlasic is a supposed strength, at least on the offensive end of the ice.

Chase the value in what hopes to be a bounce-back season for San Jose. The Sharks had made the playoffs in 14 of 15 seasons before last year’s disaster.

Against the spread (ATS)

I’m OK paying up for the SHARKS +1.5 (-250) for one goal of insurance in the event of a loss. The Coyotes won the 2019-20 season series 2-1, but one of those victories was decided by just a 3-2 score.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-115) is the play in what should be expected to be a sloppy game based on the play seen around the NHL in Wednesday’s season-openers. The lack of preseason will have a more negative affect on defensive play than offense in the early going.

There are plenty of forwards in this game capable of capitalizing on mistakes and defensive zone turnovers.
