Ed Jones signs with Sam Hunt Racing for partial Xfinity Series schedule in 2024

Former IndyCar driver Ed Jones signs with Sam Hunt Racing for a partial NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule in 2024.

[autotag]Sam Hunt Racing[/autotag] announced on Wednesday afternoon that [autotag]Ed Jones[/autotag], a former NTT IndyCar Series driver, will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season for the organization. Jones has competed in 63 IndyCar races and has one start in NASCAR with Young’s Motorsports at Circuit of the Americas last year.

Jones hasn’t competed in the Xfinity Series, so this would be his debut at the level. The 29-year-old driver is slated to run the Xfinity Series races at Circuit of the Americas on March 23, Portland International Raceway on June 1, and Sonoma Raceway on June 8. Jones will attempt to make the field in the No. 24 car at Circuit of the Americas in a few weeks.

This is a significant moment for Jones, who won the FIA European F3 Championship in 2013 and the Indy Lights championship in 2016. The former IndyCar driver has plenty of success in open-wheel racing but now gets a genuine shot at the Xfinity Series. It’ll be interesting to see how Jones runs as he gets three opportunities with Sam Hunt Racing.

Sage Karam to run partial Xfinity Series schedule for Sam Hunt Racing in 2024

Sam Hunt Racing announced on Tuesday morning that Sage Karam will run a partial NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule in 2024.

[autotag]Sam Hunt Racing[/autotag] had a full-time driver with Kaz Grala in 2023; however, the two sides parted ways ahead of the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. As of now, Sam Hunt Racing hasn’t announced a full-time driver, but they have revealed that Corey Heim and Jeffrey Earnhardt will run part-time. Now, the organization has announced another competitor for its 2024 lineup.

On Tuesday morning, Sam Hunt Racing announced that [autotag]Sage Karam[/autotag] will run a partial schedule with the organization during the 2024 NASCAR season. Karam will start his schedule by driving the No. 26 Xfinity car at Daytona International Speedway on February 17. Additional information about Karam’s schedule will be announced at a later date.

The 28-year-old driver debuted with Sam Hunt Racing at Road America when he brought the No. 24 car home with a fourth-place finish in 2023. Karam has the talent to win on road courses, and with more experience, he could be a threat on other tracks. Sam Hunt Racing is banking on Karam’s development as it adds to a solid 2024 driver lineup with Heim and Earnhardt.

Jeffrey Earnhardt joins Sam Hunt Racing part-time for 2024 NASCAR season

Sam Hunt Racing announced on Tuesday morning that Jeffrey Earnhardt will drive the No. 26 Xfinity car for select races in 2024.

[autotag]Jeffrey Earnhardt[/autotag] has found a new home for the 2024 NASCAR season. On Tuesday morning, [autotag]Sam Hunt Racing[/autotag] announced that Earnhardt will drive the No. 26 Xfinity car part-time during the 2024 season. The 34-year-old driver spent the 2023 season with Alpha Prime Racing but only ran 24 of the 33 races after being announced as a full-time driver.

Earnhardt didn’t record a top-10 finish in those 24 races but did earn one top-5 finish and two top-10 finishes during the 2022 season between Richard Childress Racing and Sam Hunt Racing. This represents a reunion between the two parties. As for Sam Hunt Racing, this comes as the organization won’t bring Kaz Grala back as its full-time driver in the No. 26 car.

As of now, Earnhardt’s exact schedule hasn’t been announced, but he will compete in multiple races starting at Atlanta Motor Speedway. ForeverLawn will sponsor him as he looks to break through for a victory. Overall, this is a great partnership between Earnhardt and Sam Hunt Racing as the duo looks to earn an Xfinity Series victory.

Corey Heim to run partial Xfinity Series schedule for Sam Hunt Racing in 2024

Sam Hunt Racing announced on Wednesday morning that Corey Heim will run a partial NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule in 2024.

[autotag]Corey Heim[/autotag] will drive the No. 11 truck for TRICON Garage full-time in 2024; however, that doesn’t prevent him from competing at other NASCAR levels. On Wednesday morning, [autotag]Sam Hunt Racing[/autotag] announced that Heim will compete part-time for the second straight season. The NASCAR Truck Series driver competed in four races last year.

Over those four events, Heim had a best finish of 10th place at Darlington Raceway in the No. 24 car. He only finished two of the four races due to engine and suspension issues. Heim is coming off a very strong season with TRICON Garage after compiling three wins, 12 top-5 finishes, and 19 top-10 finishes. The driver of the No. 11 truck was unable to win the championship.

Sam Hunt Racing represents the second Toyota team in the Xfinity Series as Joe Gibbs Racing takes the top spot. Therefore, it might be a suprise to some seeing Heim join a Toyota race team that isn’t a consistent threat every week. For now, Heim is scheduled to race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the rest of his schedule being to be determined.

Sam Hunt Racing’s 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season in review

Sam Hunt Racing had an average year in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Here, you can check out the NASCAR team’s 2023 season in review!

[autotag]Sam Hunt Racing[/autotag] has never had a full-time driver since its debut in 2019; however, that changed when Kaz Grala came to the scene. Grala finished the year with two top-5 finishes and nine top-10 finishes while earning a 19.1 average finishing position. The driver of the No. 26 car finished 17th in the point standings.

As for the second full-time entry, Connor Mosack competed in 21 of 33 races for one top-5 finish and two top-10 finishes. Other drivers, such as Tyler Reddick and Corey Heim, took turns in the No. 24 car, but it was Sage Karam who earned a top-5 and top-10 finish. It wasn’t the best season for the second car, but it was its first full-time experience.

Grala won’t return to the No. 26 Xfinity car for Sam Hunt Racing in 2024, which leads to questions about who will take it over. Could Karam or Mosack be next in line while hte No. 24 xar remains the “All-Star” entry? It will be interesting to see what Sam Hunt Racing comes up with as Toyota’s second team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Kaz Grala won’t return to No. 26 Xfinity car for Sam Hunt Racing in 2024

Sam Hunt Racing announced on Monday afternoon that Kaz Grala will not return to the No. 26 Xfinity car in 2024.

[autotag]Sam Hunt Racing[/autotag] announced on Monday afternoon that [autotag]Kaz Grala[/autotag] will not return to the No. 26 Xfinity car in 2024. Grala ended the season with two top-5 finishes, nine top-10 finishes, and a 19.1 average finishing position. The former driver of the No. 26 car represented Sam Hunt Racing’s first full-time competitor and finished 17th in the point standings.

The organization fielded two full-time entries during the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season and it would be surprising to see it any different next year. One logical option would be elevating Connor Mosack to a full-time position after running in 21 of the 33 races. If not, there are some other names that would make sense for Sam Hunt Racing.

Sage Karam wants to make his NASCAR dream come alive and a full-time opportunity in the No. 26 Xfinity car would be very solid. Karam would be a threat on road courses as he continues to learn how to drive on an oval track. Either way, Sam Hunt Racing should have some good options available as they represent Toyota’s second team in the Xfinity Series
