Georgia’s Jamaree Salyer impresses at NFL combine bench press

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer surprisingly topped Ben Cleveland’s bench press effort in 2021.

Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer proved his versatility all season. Salyer played left tackle for the Bulldogs in 2021, but stepped into the guard position in the national championship game when Georgia struggled to get interior push in the run game.

Salyer helped his NFL draft stock with an impressive performance in the bench press event. The bench press is of 225 pounds. Salyer surprisingly topped Ben Cleveland’s 30 bench reps in 2021.

Here is a look at Jamaree Salyer’s 31 rep effort on the bench press (video per Athens Banner-Herald reporter Marc Weiszer):

At the moment, only Boston College’s Zion Johnson has recorded more bench reps (32) than Jamaree Salyer (31).

Weiszer additionally reported that Georgia offensive guard Justin Shaffer will be benching at his pro day and not at the 2022 NFL combine. Georgia football’s pro day will be held on March 16.
