Season series: First meeting; Kings won both meetings last season

The Kings beat the Utah Jazz 113-96 Tuesday, closing as a 6.5-point favorite. They have won 2 in a row going 1-0-1 against the spread (ATS). Sacramento opened the season with 2 straight losses/non-covers, but has followed those up with 2 double-digit wins. C Domantas Sabonis is averaging 24.3 points per game (PPG) and shooting 67.9% from the field.

The Hawks opened the season with 2 straight wins over the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets, but have lost 3 straight since. They lost to the Washington Wizards 133-120 on the road Wednesday, failing to cover as a 5.5-point favorite. Atlanta has been favored in 4 games, but is 0-5 ATS on the season. The Hawks are led by G Trae Young, who is averaging 28.2 PPG.

Kings at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 124, Hawks 116

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to look at the moneyline here.

The Kings (-275) are unplayable given how expensive they are, and the Hawks (+220) have yet to show they can defend at any level and aren’t worthy of a play as a home underdog.

Against the spread

BET KINGS -6.5 (-110).

While the Hawks are 2-3, they rank 25th in the NBA in net rating, and the Kings are 2-2 yet sitting 5th in net rating. The Hawks are playing worse than their record suggests while the Kings are playing better and have dominated teams as of late, beating the Utah Jazz by 17 and Portland Trail Blazers by 13 in their last 2 games.

The Hawks have folded over the last 3 games, losing to the Wizards (a team that is expected to be among the worst in the Eastern Conference) in back-to-back games with 1 being at home. Atlanta is 2-1 at home and 0-3 ATS.

Considering the recent trends for both teams, back KINGS -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 239.5 (-110).

There’s no reason to think this game won’t be played at a hectic and torrid pace. The Hawks like to push the ball and rank 3rd in pace while the Kings sit 11th in pace. Atlanta has scored at least 119 points in 4 games and has allowed 116 or more points in every game. It has allowed 120-plus points in 4 of 5 and is 5-0 O/U.

The Kings are 2-2 O/U and have scored at least 111 points in all 4 games. Considering the trends for the home side and each team’s willingness to push the pace and get in transition, expect points in abundance and back OVER 239.5 (-110).

Sacramento Kings at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Sacramento Kings at Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Coming off an embarrassing 53-point loss to the Boston Celtics, the Sacramento Kings (18-31) will be right back on the floor Wednesday night. They’re visiting the Atlanta Hawks (21-25) at the State Farm Arena, with tip-off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kings vs. Hawks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Kings were blown out by the Celtics on Tuesday night, losing 128-75 on the road. It was the biggest home win in Celtics history, putting into perspective just how lopsided the game was.

Without PG De’Aaron Fox, it was always going to be a tough matchup, but Sacramento was outmatched by Boston last night. The Kings have now lost four in a row and eight of their last 10, slipping way below .500.

The Hawks were off on Monday and Tuesday after beating the Charlotte Hornets Sunday, 113-91. They’ve won four games in a row and have scored at least 110 points in each of those contests.

This matchup with the Kings opens a five-game homestand, a critical stretch for the Hawks with the Celtics, Lakers, Raptors and Suns all visiting in the next eight days.

Kings at Hawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 123, Kings 112

Money line

The Kings aren’t necessarily as bad as they looked Tuesday night in Boston, but they’re also not playing well right now.

They’ve dropped four straight and their defense is struggling to slow down opposing teams and they’re getting outrebounded regularly.

Even if Fox returns for Sacramento, I like the Hawks to win outright at home. The money line is -500, though, so I would PASS here.

Against the spread

The Hawks have covered the spread in each of their last four games, winning comfortably over the Hornets, Timberwolves and Bucks in the last week.

They narrowly beat the Heat, 110-108, as 1.5-point favorites, but this is a team that’s heating up at the right time.

Bet the HAWKS -8.5 (-122) up to -10.5 if Fox is ruled out because it’ll be tough for the Kings to compete without their point guard.

Over/Under

The total has gone Under in each of the last three meetings between these teams, but in the last week, the Over has been the more common trend. The Over is 4-2 in the Kings’ last six games and 5-1 in the Hawks’ last six, as well.

Bet the OVER 231.5 (-108) to hit tonight.

Sacramento Kings at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Sacramento Kings at Atlanta Hawks NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Atlanta Hawks (17-20) host the Sacramento Kings (15-22) Saturday at State Farm Arena for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Kings-Hawks odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Sacramento smoked the hapless Houston Rockets 125-105 Thursday in its first game back from the All-Star break. The Kings are 3-2 overall and against the spread in their last five games.

The Hawks squeaked past the Toronto Raptors 121-120 Thursday with a buzzer-beater three from SF Tony Snell for their third consecutive victory. Atlanta’s past five games were on the road where it was 3-2 overall and 1-3-1 ATS.

The Kings have beaten the Hawks in four straight meetings and covered the spread each time.

Kings at Hawks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kings 124, Hawks 120

Money line (ML)

Atlanta’s implied win probability for the -190 money line is 65.52% and there’s no way this version of the Hawks, who just fired their head coach prior to the All-Star break, beats the Kings that often.

Don’t get me wrong, Sacramento is terrible, but not as disappointing as Atlanta this season. For instance, the Hawks’ projected regular-season win total was 36.5 coming into the season and the Kings’ line was set at 27.5 wins.

Sacramento plays in the toughest division and is the only losing team in the Pacific Division; the Kings have also played the third-toughest schedule in the league.

Whereas Atlanta plays in the softest division in the Association, which has just one winning team (not the Hawks).

Let’s sprinkle a quarter-unit on KINGS (+155) as a bet against the Hawks.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

BET KINGS +4.5 (-110) instead of or heavier than the money line because Sacramento plus the points is a way sharper wager.

This is a great spot for the Kings, who are 8-4 ATS with a plus-2.5 spread differential as road dogs. As mentioned, they’ve covered in four straight against the Hawks.

It’s more of a lean because both teams are bad, but Atlanta is 3-0 since making Nate McMillan interim head coach March 2.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 238.5 (-110) is probably the best play in Kings-Hawks because both teams are bottom-10 in defensive rating and top-10 in offensive rating.

Additionally, Atlanta just allowed 120 points to a Toronto team missing several starters and five of the past six Kings-Hawks games have gone Over the projected total.

BET OVER 238.5 (-110) for a half-unit.
