Notre Dame statistical leaders using 2022 statistics

Get ready for the season with some familiar names.

The first buildup to a Notre Dame football game for 2023 finally has arrived. You all have been very patient in waiting for this week, but that patience has paid off. Waiting for this long deserves a pat on the back, so give yourself one as you’re reading this. And even if you have heard this preseason spiel before, give yourself a pat on the back anyway.

With that schmaltz out of the way, let’s talk about the players on the 2023 Irish roster who performed the best in 2022. We should see some of that on display in the season opener against Navy. Although the Midshipmen are not exactly the best opponent to use as a measuring stick, we at least can get an idea of what’s to come. After all, they don’t call it Week 0 for nothing.

Here are the 2023 Irish players who did the best in football’s top statistical categories:

Five keys for Notre Dame to return to the College Football Playoff in 2023

What are your keys for the Irish to make the CFP?

For many year two head coaches, that’s the season when it all comes together and guess what? [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag]’s [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] is about to start his second full season in South Bend.

The expectations are extremely high, especially considering the Irish finally have a quarterback that can lead them to a title in [autotag]Sam Hartman[/autotag]. The recruiting has seen an uptick in the Freeman era, while player development is also on the same trajectory.

Next is the on-field results and the Irish have an opportunity to return to the College Football Playoff this season, but there are few keys that need to happen for the Irish to play for a title. Find out which five in my eyes are most important.

Notre Dame football 2023: Rylie Mills player profile

A quiet player without big-time numbers but certainly with a big-time role.

The countdown is on for Notre Dame football in 2023 as the Irish open the season on August 26 against Navy in Dublin, Ireland.  After an off-season that included transfer drama, recruiting drama, and assistant coaches departing, it’s nice to be talking about actual on-the-field matters.

At Fighting Irish Wire we’re previewing the players ahead of the 2023 campaign.  Will it be one of great memories for the Fighting Irish?

One of the players that will go a long way in deciding that is defensive lineman Rylie Mills.  The senior has played both on the inside and on the end of Notre Dame’s defensive line over the last the years and we take a further look at what he brings to the table in 2023 here.

Notre Dame football names their three warriors of the week

These three are taking winter workouts seriously

During the lead up to spring practice, [autotag]Matt Balis[/autotag] and his strength and conditioning team have been awarding three members of the [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] football team as their warriors of the week.

They are awarding one each to power, skill and big skill, all the winners taking home a championship belt. The belts are the coolest part of this but we also get to see the shape of the winners.

This weeks warriors all look like they have been taking conditioning seriously, each one of them looks like they have been living in the weight room and taking their diets seriously. Find out who won the weekly belts below.

The Athletic suggesting that Notre Dame is going after a MAC portal defensive end

A very interesting development

When Irish defensive end [autotag]Isaiah Foskey[/autotag] decided to forgo his senior season and also the [autotag]TaxSlayer Gator Bowl[/autotag], it came as no surprise. Brother’s Justin and[autotag]Jayson Ademilola[/autotag] are seniors who could stay another year, the only returning significant contributor for sure returning is[autotag]Rylie Mills[/autotag].

There is a big hole that needs to be filled on the defensive line, even if the Ademilola brother’s return. With that in mind, The Athletic’s Max Olson went over what he’s hearing on transfer portal (subscription required) prospects and he mentioned Notre Dame going after Western Michigan’s [autotag]Braden Fiske[/autotag]. Olson has heard that [autotag]Florida State[/autotag], [autotag]USC[/autotag], and [autotag]Oklahoma[/autotag] are going after the defensive end, so the competition is fierce for the transfer.

Fiske has already visited Florida State and it is unsure of where his next visit could be. If [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] was able to get him to South Bend, it would surely be a very interesting development.

Let’s get wild, week 9: Statistical predictions for Notre Dame vs Syracuse

Which stats do you think help the Irish get a win today?

Although Syracuse isn’t a traditional power, they still boast a very quality team this fall. Their lone loss was last week to an undefeated Clemson squad, which didn’t really give a blueprint for how to beat the Orange. The Irish will have to do it their way and here are some stats that could help Notre Dame get another road upset victory against a ranked opponent.

Five keys for Notre Dame to defeat UNLV

What are your keys against UNLV?

We have come to a point in the season where the Irish need to play their A-game to win. They can no longer sleep-walk through a game and defeat a lesser opponent. It’s been a stark contrast from the Brian Kelly era but there is no doubt in my mind that Marcus Freeman won’t figure it out eventually. With that in mind, here are five keys the Irish get back into the win column on Saturday.

The day after: Lasting thoughts on Notre Dame’s crushing loss to Stanford

Plenty of reasons why you still still be disturbed

Another week, another disappointing performance for the Irish, but this time it cost them in the win column. During their three-game winning streak, it’s not like they were blowing teams out, there were struggles in each of those games and those struggles reared their ugly heads once again yesterday evening. Not much went right, as most of these thoughts still going through my head are fairly negative but not all bad. Find out what has stuck out in my mind since Notre Dame’s 16-14 loss last night to Stanford.
