Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes plans to attend Royals postseason games at Kauffman Stadium

Kansas City #Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes plans to attend Kansas City #Royals postseason games at Kauffman Stadium | @EdEastonJr

Last Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs’ 26-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints had tough competition in terms of attention and viewers in the city. The Major League Baseball postseason is underway, and the Kansas City Royals are battling the New York Yankees in the American League Division series.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes discussed the Royals’ grabbing the crowd’s attention during his postgame press conference.

“I really wanted to focus on the game and look after it and maybe get a scoreboard kind of shot of it, and they gave us a couple of those. You could feel that that stuff was going good,” said Mahomes. “There was kind of a lull there, kind of, I think, towards the end of the game, and I was like, ‘They’re not showing the score. The (New York) Yankees came back.’ The Royals picked it up and got the win, and it was extremely exciting to see the fanbase because, obviously, we know that the fans at (GEHA Field at) Arrowhead (Stadium) are going to be loud and (cause a) ruckus and be really into the game, but I haven’t gotten to experience that stadium in Kauffman (Stadium) – sold out playoffs and that stuff and so it was cool to see that kind of combine.”

The Royals were victorious on Monday, tying the series at one game each. Two games this week are scheduled in Kauffman Stadium. The defending Super Bowl MVP plans to attend a game but has family first on his mind.

“That’s the plan; I have to just – it’s (the) bye week,” said Mahomes. “so Brittany’s (Mahomes) vacation and me getting to the Royals game will feud for sure.”

Chiefs Kingdom should be on the lookout for Mahomes and maybe some other Chiefs players in attendance for games three and four.

LOOK: Patrick Mahomes reacts to Bobby Witt Jr.’s spectacular Home Run Derby performance

Check out #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ reaction to #Royals SS Bobby Witt Jr.’s outstanding Home Run Derby performance.

Patrick Mahomes is an avid baseball fan, and when Bobby Witt Jr. took the field for the MLB’s annual Home Run Derby on Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was glued to his television.

Witt fought hard against more experienced competition to finish as the event’s runner-up, falling just behind Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández in the derby’s final round.

Though Mahomes didn’t attend the spectacular showing of slugging prowess in Texas, he and his wife Brittany documented his experience of watching Witt from his living room on social media during each round of the event.

Check out their top posts below:

When Witt was eliminated, Mahomes took to his official account to post a final show of support for Kansas City’s budding star.

Though Witt didn’t leave with a trophy on Monday night, he will join fellow Royals Salvador Pérez, Cole Ragans, and Seth Lugo at the 2024 MLB All-Star Game on June 16.

The Twins have still won 6 of their last 8 games and are 6 1/2 games behind Cleveland in the AL Central race.

Royals at Twins projected starters

RHP Brady Singer vs. RHP Chris Paddack

Singer (4-2, 2.63 ERA) makes his 12th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 9.3 K/9 in 61 2/3 IP.

  • Has allowed 1 ER or less in 8 of his 11 starts, including 5 of his last 6 outings
  • March 31 vs. Twins: Win, 7 IP,  0 ER, 3 H, 1BB, 10 K in 11-0 victory

Royals at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Royals 4, Twins 3

Moneyline

The Royals are 8-3 in Singer’s starts this season and he has performed at a very high level. They are 4-1 in his last 5 outings, during which time he has recorded a 30/6 K/BB in 27 1/3 IP.

The Royals sit 4 games ahead of the Twins in the standings and have a run differential of +81, compared to +2 for Minnesota. Look for the ROYALS +105 to come out on top in this game.

Run line/Against the spread

Singer has been excellent all season and both starting pitchers have been on a roll lately, which points to this being a close game throughout. Laying 2:1 odds on Kansas City keeping it within a run seems steep so it’s probably best to PASS on the RL and look for value elsewhere.

Over/Under

These 2 pitchers have been doing a great job of holding opposing offenses in check. This has the makings of a pitchers’ duel, as neither team is likely to have a big offensive day. A play on UNDER 8 (-115) looks like the way to go.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce reflects on his redemption pitch at Kauffman Stadium

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce admitted that he almost had another viral moment for all of the wrong reasons at the #Royals game on Monday. | from @EdEastonJr

[connatix div_id=”3f8b015acdd24c648befc5d5dac47469″ player_id=”afe1e038-d3c2-49c0-922d-6511a229f69c” cid=”7cbcea0d-4ce2-4c75-9a8d-fbe02a192c24″]

The Kansas City Chiefs are back on the football field Tuesday to start mandatory minicamp. The focus is to prepare for the rapidly approaching 2023 season and defend their Super Bowl title.

Travis Kelce is ready to add to his impressive career stats this upcoming year, entering minicamp. Kelce is fresh from his first pitch redemption on Monday night during the Kansas City Royals’ “Chiefs Night.” He reflected on the bounce-back performance and nearly created another viral mishap while speaking with reporters after Tuesday’s practice.

“I don’t know if y’all saw, but I slipped.” Said Kelce, “I got lucky I didn’t fall on my tail and go viral again for the wrong reasons.”

Kelce delivered the pitch effectively before the start of the Royals’ matchup against the Cincinnati Reds. He elaborated on the almost mishap and apologized to his hometown again for April’s performance.

“But yeah, shout out to Bobby (Witt Jr.) for kind of painting that corner for me a little bit, put it over the plate,” Kelce said. “So thanks for that. Thanks to the Royals for letting me get a second chance, and I’m sorry, Cleveland. I’m; literally, I’m so embarrassed to come back home now.”

Kelce can now safely focus his attention on the upcoming golf matchup at the end of the month and training for a new football season.

WATCH: Travis Kelce redeems himself by delivering the first pitch at Kansas City Royals game

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce successfully delivered the first pitch during the Kansas City Royals’ “Chiefs Night” on Monday. | from @EdEastonJr

The anticipation was at an all-time high for many Kansas City Chiefs fans heading into Monday night’s Royals game against the Cincinnati Reds. The actual baseball game took a backseat to Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce’s quest for ceremonial first-pitch redemption.

Kelce has dealt with two months of playful joking and criticism following his initial first pitch botch before the season opener of his hometown team, the Cleveland Guardians. The viral blunder led to pleas from teammate Patrick Mahomes and others for Kelce to get another shot at a future Royals game. The Chiefs star took full advantage of the opportunity on Monday as he got the job done successfully in front of the Kansas City crowd.

The pitch had all the bells and whistles with teammates lined up behind him, fans on their feet, and KC Wolf holding a helpful arrow sign toward the catcher. The mission is finally accomplished, and Kelce has a lighter consciousness heading into the mandatory minicamp this week.

Royals to give Travis Kelce shot at redemption during Chiefs’ theme night

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce will get his shot at baseball redemption with a chance to throw out the first pitch at the #Royals’ Chiefs theme night. | from @EdEastonJr

The Kansas City Chiefs have had plenty to celebrate since winning Super Bowl LVII, and spearheading the offseason festivities has been star TE Travis Kelce.

The All-Pro tight end has had an offseason for ages, participating in various events, hosting a concert, and even Saturday Night Live. The only comical blemish on his record was the infamous first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians home opener.

Kelce will officially have his chance at ceremonial first-pitch redemption when the Kansas City Royals host their “Chiefs night.” The Royals announced Kelce would get another opening toss before Monday night’s game. Kelce tweeted his embarrassment following the botch in Cleveland, pushing the blame for his football spiking.

“Been spiking a football for the past 10 years,” said Kelce. “Can you tell?”

Patrick Mahomes, who lobbied the Royals for this opportunity, head coach Andy Reid, and more will be on hand in support of Kelce at Kauffman Stadium. Reid revealed Kelce’s game plan during Thursday’s press conference after OTAs, explaining that he’s been getting some pointers from Mahomes.

“I think Pat (Mahomes) has,” said Reid. “Pat’s been on him. He’s working hard at it. I think you’re going to get a better performance this time. He can throw now; it’s just getting it straight there.”

The promotion expects the first 20K fans to attend the game to get a co-branded Chiefs/Royals rally towel. The chance to watch Kelce redeem himself, however, will be priceless.

Chiefs theme night is coming to Royals’ Kauffman Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs have crossed over into baseball a few times this busy off-season. Travis Kelce’s partnership with MLB star Aaron Judge, his questionable first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians home opener, and last week’s softball performance from Patrick Mahomes made headlines.

The Kansas City Royals are showing their appreciation for the reigning Super Bowl champions with a special promotional night at an upcoming game. The Royals will host ‘Chiefs Night’ on June 12th featuring Mahomes, Kelce, head coach Andy Reid, and more at Kauffman Stadium. They say that the first 20K fans to attend the game will get a co-branded Chiefs/Royals rally towel.

Considering the Chiefs’ recent rivalry with the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cincinnati Reds will be a very fitting opponent for the upcoming theme night.

Appearances from KC Wolf and the Chiefs cheerleaders are expected to be a part of the celebration. The special night adds to the continued united efforts in the city supporting sports and beyond in the community.

Chiefs were well-represented at Royals opening day

#Chiefs HC Andy Reid, GM Brett Veach and Hall of Fame LB Bobby Bell took in #Royals’ opening day at The K on Thursday.

Some key figures at 1 Arrowhead Drive took a trip across the parking lot on Thursday to support the Kansas City Royals on opening day.

In what has become an annual tradition, the Kansas City Chiefs sent over a contingent to take in the game on opening day as the Royals faced the Minnesota Twins at Kauffman Stadium. The two historic franchises have long supported each other, so it’s no surprise to see the Chiefs out there having the Royals’ back as they get their season underway. This year HC Andy Reid and GM Brett Veach were joined by Hall of Fame linebacker Bobby Bell.

The trio all snapped a photo together. Reid and Veach also took another photo with Royals majority owner John Sherman and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. The team shared the images on their social media channel.

Check it out:

Patrick Mahomes, a part-owner of the Royals, wasn’t in attendance for this year’s opening day. That’s the second year in a row that he has missed opening day. His recent social media posts have suggested that he’s off training with Bobby Stroupe in Texas for the offseason. He did, however, drop a new colorway of his Adidas Mahomes 1’s that seems to be heavily inspired by the Royals.

Zack Greinke, the former No. 6 overall pick in the 2002 MLB draft, got the start for the Royals on Thursday. Despite a solid performance from Greinke, a lack of run support led to a 2-0 loss to the Twins on opening day. Perhaps they’ll have better luck on Saturday when the series resumes.
