Broncos QB Bo Nix wins 2 more awards: ‘It doesn’t end with just that’

Triple Crown: Broncos QB Bo Nix was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, the Air Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week.

The awards just keep coming for Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

After being named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, Nix was also named the Air Player of the Week and the Rookie of the Week on NFL.com.

“I’m proud of where he’s at,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of Nix after Wednesday’s practice. “He works tirelessly and [has] the confidence in his teammates. All of that stuff is what you hope to see.

“The best part is — you guys know him now — he’s very grounded and he’s very team-driven relative to what’s important. We just want to keep building on that. It’s good with where we’re at in this juncture of the season.”

Nix went 28-of-33 (84.8%) passing for 307 yards with four touchdowns and no turnovers in a 38-6 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Nix was honored by this week’s accolades, but he knows there’s still work to be done.

“It’s cool, it’s a great honor,” Nix said Wednesday, “It’s a great responsibility, but at the same time it doesn’t end with just that. You obviously have to continue to go back. They only remember your last game, so you have to go out there and continue to do it. It’s a great honor. Many great players have won the award in the past, so it’s an honor to be included and be that recipient. [There is] a lot of work left to be done.”

Nix aims to remain even-keeled going forward.

“I understand what it’s like to be playing well, and then also not playing well,” Nix said. “So [I] definitely want to continue playing well. It’s just being able to stay grounded with being able to handle the highs and the lows and just remain the same. Be the same guy in the locker room all the time.”

Up next for the Broncos is a road game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Bills’ Keon Coleman voted NFL Rookie of the Week for Titans performance

Bills’ Keon Coleman voted NFL Rookie of the Week for Titans performance

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman was voted the NFL’s Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for his performance in Week 7 against the Tennessee Titans.

Coleman is the first wide receiver to be voted Rookie of the Week this year. In the game, Coleman caught four passes for 125 yards. He led the entire NFL in receiving yards for Week 7 in the 34-10 win.

He is just the third rookie WR to put up 125 receiving yards this year, joining Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers. That is pretty good company to be in.

Coleman’s big day found him being mentioned among even better company, too. In the last five years, only three other rookie wide receivers have led the league in receiving yards for any given week. Those three are Ja’Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, and Justin Jefferson:

The Bills brought in Amari Cooper to bring a spark to the receiving room last week. If Coleman is capable of games like this, and with Cooper across the field from him, the league could be in trouble. The two combined for 191 yards and a touchdown in their first game together.

Coleman’s 326 receiving yards ranks third among rookie WRs through seven weeks. He trails only Brian Thomas Jr. (513) and Malik Nabers (427).

The 5-2 Bills will take their new-look offense on the road to Seattle to take on the 4-3 Seahawks at Lumen Field in Week 8.

Jayden Daniels won Rookie of the Week again and Bears fans are outraged

Bears fans aren’t happy that Jayden Daniels is the Rookie of the Week — again.

For the fifth time in six weeks, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is the NFL’s Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week. Daniels earned the award after his performance in Washington’s 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.

Daniels completed 24 of 35 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels, the No. 2 overall pick, beat out Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall pick. Williams passes for 226 yards, with four touchdowns and an interception vs. the Jaguars last week.

With Daniels winning the award again, Chicago fans weren’t happy, and many took to X—formerly Twitter—to share their opinions. It should be noted that Daniels also won the September NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month award.

The outrage toward Daniels winning a “meaningless” award is interesting since coaches, former coaches, players, and analysts from around the NFL award have continuously praised Daniels for his play and for where he’s headed in the future.

There’s more.

It doesn’t end there, but you get the point. Perhaps everyone should take a week or two off from praising Daniels and send some Chicago’s way.

Regardless of how well Daniels has played all season and Williams has played recently, both have a bright future. Can’t Bears fans, like Washington, just be happy they finally found a franchise quarterback?
