New York Islanders at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s New York Islanders at Vancouver Canucks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The New York Islanders (35-23-9) continue their road trip, visiting the Vancouver Canucks (35-27-6) at Rogers Arena Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Islanders-Canucks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Islanders at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Semyon Varlamov vs. Thatcher Demko

Varlamov checks in with a 19-14-5 record, 2.59 goals against average and .915 save percentage. But the real story is his play on the road, where he has been much better. He’s just 8-8-1 in 20 appearances, including 17 starts, away from home, but he has an impressive 2.28 GAA and .925 SV%.

Demko has been tasked with holding down the fort since Jacob Markstrom (knee) went down, with Louis Domingue brought in to be the understudy. Demko is 12-10-2 with a 3.03 GAA and .904 SV%, including 8-3-1 in 13 appearances on home ice, while Domingue lost his only start since joining the Canucks, allowing four goals on 34 shots.

Prediction

Islanders 5, Canucks 3

Moneyline (ML)

The ISLANDERS (+105) are short dogs on the road, but a real value here. They have dropped six in a row, but that’s not going to go on forever. They’re due, and they enter with a couple days of rest – they’re 7-2 in the past nine on two days of rest. They have also topped the Canucks (-129) in six of the past eight meetings overall.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Islanders to grab the road win returns a profit of $10.50 if they prevail, while a $10 wager on the Canucks nets a profit of $7.75.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

I’m backing the Islanders (+1.5, -250) on the moneyline to win straight up, so I am not interested in this insurance, especially if I have to risk two and a half times my investment. The Canucks (-1.5, +200) are tempting play if you think the Isles will continue their skid.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-106) is 6-1-1 in the past eight meetings in this series. While the Under is 6-0 in New York’s past six against the Western Conference, there is something about Tuesday that brings out the offense. The Over is 10-0-1 in New York’s past 11 played on a Tuesday.

For Vancouver, the Over has connected in eight of the past 10, and 5-1 in the past six at home. The Over is also 5-2 in its past seven against winning teams.

Columbus Blue Jackets at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Columbus Blue Jackets at Edmonton Oilers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Columbus Blue Jackets (32-21-15) and Edmonton Oilers (36-24-8) battle at Rogers Place at 10 p.m. ET Saturday. We analyze the Blue Jackets-Oilers sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Blue Jackets at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

Joonas Korpisalo vs. Mikko Koskinen

Korpisalo heads to Northern Alberta searching for his 20th win of the season. He carries a 19-11-5 record, 2.58 goals against average and .912 save percentage with two shutouts into play. He is just 6-2-4 in his 11 starts and 12 appearances on the road this season. He was tuned up earlier this season by the Oilers, allowing four goals on just 12 shots before being pulled after 24:56 in a loss Oct. 30 in Columbus.

Koskinen is 17-13-2 on the season with a .914 SV% and 2.80 GAA. He stopped all 10 shots he faced in relief of starter Mike Smith Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 2:50 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Oilers 5, Blue Jackets 3

Moneyline (ML)

The OILERS (-175) aren’t terribly expensive despite the fact they’re 5-2 in their past seven games against the Eastern Conference, and 14-3 in their past 17 games against Metropolitan Division opponents. On the flip side, the Blue Jackets (+145) are just 2-11 in their past 13 games overall, 1-6 in their past seven against winning teams and 0-6 in their past six on the road.

A $10 bet on the Oilers to win returns a profit of $5.70, while a $10 wager on the Blue Jackets results in a profit of $14.50.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The OILERS (-1.5, +155) are a tremendous value at home. They won the first meeting 4-1, and 12 of their past 16 victories have resulted in a cover of the puck line. Take advantage.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-125) has cashed in 10 of the past 13 meetings in Edmonton. That’s over the span of 13 years, so not as important as the here and now. The Over is 7-2 in the past nine overall for the Jackets, and 6-1 in their past seven on the road. The Over is 6-2 in Edmonton’s past eight as a home favorite, too, and 5-1-1 in its past seven against losing sides.

Arizona Coyotes at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Arizona Coyotes at Vancouver Canucks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The Arizona Coyotes (32-27-8) and the Vancouver Canucks (34-25-6) do battle at Rogers Arena in British Columbia Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. ET (on ESPN+). We analyze the Coyotes-Canucks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

The Canucks have some injury concerns. Starting G Jacob Markstrom (knee) hasn’t played since Feb. 22. D Quinn Hughes (undisclosed), D Tyler Myers (undisclosed) and C Jay Beagle (lower body) missed Tuesday’s practice and are all questionable. D Guillaume Brisebois and D Jalen Chatfield were summoned from the minors just in case.

Coyotes at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Antti Raanta vs. Thatcher Demko

Raanta is expected to get the nod on the road against Vancouver, although he hasn’t been nearly as effective away from home than in the desert. At home he is a sparkling 10-5-1 with a 2.11 goals against average, .933 save percentage and two shutouts. On the road he is a dismal 5-9-2 with a 3.19 GAA and .909 SV% in 16 starts.

Markstrom (knee) is projected by some as the starting netminder for Wednesday, but we’ll believe it when we see it. The Canucks traded for veteran Louis Domingue to back up Demko, and it’s doubtful they’ll rush Markstrom back, but you never know. Demko was 1-3-1 with a 3.52 GAA and an .882 SV% in six games (five starts) in February.

Coyotes at Canucks: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 3:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Coyotes 3, Canucks 2

Moneyline (ML)

ARIZONA (+100) is an underdog on the road, and rightly so. But the Coyotes might be catching the Canucks (-121) at a good time since Vancouver is banged up and might be relying on some unproven commodities for this Hump Day affair. The goaltender situation is also a bit muddled, so Arizona could take advantage.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Coyotes to grab the road win returns a profit of $10, while a $10 wager on the Canucks results in a profit of $8.26.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Coyotes puck line (+1.5, -278) is quite a bit more than their moneyline, which is a much better value. It’s just too high a price at -278. Arizona has struggled away from home, going 1-10 in the past 11 road games. The Canucks (-1.5, +225) are 1-4 in the past five as a favorite.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-110) is a good bet, going 33-15-4 in the past 52 meetings, and 6-2-2 in the past 10 meetings in B.C. While the Over is 5-1 in the Canucks’ past six at home, they’re short-handed. Goals could be at a premium. The Coyotes are 4-0-1 on the Under across their past five on the road, and 7-2-1 in the past 10 overall.

Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Calgary Flames (26-19-6) and Edmonton Oilers (26-18-5) will renew acquaintances Wednesday at Rogers Place at 10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Flames-Oilers sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Flames at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

David Rittich vs. Mike Smith

The all-star Rittich gets the nod after Cam Talbot made the start, and took the shootout loss, in Tuesday’s home game against the St. Louis Blues. Rittich has posted a 19-12-5 record, 2.77 goals against average and .913 save percentage across his 36 starts. He has faced the Oilers just once this season, allowing one goal on 29 shots in a 5-1 win in Edmonton Dec. 27.

Smith checks into this one with a 12-9-3 record, 2.96 goals against average and .901 save percentage through 24 starts and two relief appearances. The Kingston, Ontario native replaced a shaky Mikko Koskinen in that 5-1 loss to Rittich and the Flames Dec. 27, stopping six of the seven shots he faced in relief.

Flames at Oilers: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Oilers 4, Flames 2

Moneyline (ML)

The OILERS (-125) have won five of their previous seven home battles against the Flames (+105), although Calgary is 6-2 in the past eight meetings. The favorite is also 8-1 in the previous nine in this series, too. The fact the Flames just played Tuesday also works against them, especially since they went to a shootout and then had the quick turnaround for travel, albeit a short jump up to Edmonton.

A $10 bet on the Oilers to win returns a profit of $8, while a $10 wager on the Flames results in a profit of $10.50.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Oilers (-1.5, +220) are the lean here, although I’d go super, super light if I were you. The Flames (+1.5, -278) are just too risky to play, especially considering their poor record in recent games in Edmonton, and the fact they might have tired legs after going to a shootout Tuesday. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-133) is the play, although I don’t like the added juice tacked on, and don’t love the number that much anyway. If you play the alternate line of Over 6.5 (+135), I’m not terribly keen on this one being a high-scoring affair. I barely like the 5.5. The Under is also 33-16-4 in the past 53 meetings between these provincial rivals in Edmonton. The best play might be not to play at all.

New York Rangers at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s New York Rangers at Edmonton Oilers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Rangers (19-15-4) and Edmonton Oilers (20-17-4) face-off at Rogers Place at 9 p.m. ET Tuesday. We analyze the Rangers-Oilers sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Rangers at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

Alexandar Georgiev vs. Mike Smith

Georgiev is tabbed for the start in Edmonton, closing out the decade for the Original Six Blueshirts. He puts his 10-7-1 record, 2.99 goals against average and .915 save percentage with two shutouts on the season. He won in Toronto Saturday, making 44 saves on 48 shots in an overtime victory.

Smith has rolled up a 7-9-2 record with a 3.12 GAA and .893 save percentage with one shutout. He hasn’t won since Nov. 23 in Las Vegas, taking losses in each of his past four starts (0-3-1).

Rangers at Oilers: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 11:50 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Rangers 5, Oilers 3

Moneyline (ML)

The RANGERS (+125) are slight underdogs on the road against the Oilers (-150), and they’re the better value with the better backstop, as Smith has been too erratic lately.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Rangers (+1.5, -223) are just too expensive on the puck line. A much better value, and an intriguing play, is rolling with the alternative spread, taking the Rangers (-1.5, +310). It’s a risky play, but it’s also nice to triple up to fund your night out while you watch the ball drop.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-154) comes with a pricey juice tag, but it’s worth a look. Smith has been a sieve lately, and even though Georgiev has been sharp in the pipes, the Rangers defense makes their goaltender face a lot of rubber. He is going to give up several goals, even in a win.
