Local restaurant to honor Cadillac Williams with special menu item

Fans will have the opportunity to construct the perfect burger or sandwich that will honor Cadillac Williams.

What does [autotag]Pat Sullivan[/autotag], [autotag]Rod Bramblett[/autotag], [autotag]Gus Malzahn[/autotag], [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and [autotag]Cadillac Williams[/autotag] all have in common? They each have a menu item named after them at a local restaurant.

Niffers, an Auburn establishment best known for its’ burgers and sandwiches, announced Wednesday that they would recognize former Auburn running back and interim head coach Cadillac Williams with a special menu item.

“For all he did then & all he does NOW… Carnell “Cadillac” Williams deserves his own menu item,” the restaurant shared in a tweet.

What will the menu item be? That will be for Auburn fans to decide. Niffers has allowed the general public to construct the perfect burger or sandwich that will be perfectly named “The Cadillac.”

Fans have until Jan. 31 to build the perfect menu item. Participants in the contest will have the option to choose bread, protein, toppings, and sauces that will go on the item. The winner will receive a $100 Niffers gift card, and a free “The Cadillac” every month.

Williams rushed for 3,381 yards and 45 touchdowns during his time as a player from 2001-04. He later returned to Auburn as an assistant coach in 2019, and was named interim head coach following the dismissal of Bryan Harsin in 2022. He led the Tigers to a 2-2 record during his time as head coach, and was retained by newly hired head coach Hugh Freeze.

WATCH: The ‘Kick Six’ recreated with LEGOS with Rod Bramblett’s call

This play will never get old no matter how it is viewed.

Ahhhh, the Kick Six. The play that will absolutely never get old no matter how many times you see it.

While viewing the famous play that ended the 2013 Iron Bowl is already on Auburn fans’ schedules on a regular basis, this viewing is quite different.

Twitter user @goldyeller, known for his recreation of events through LEGOS, outdid himself with this one.

Andy Burcham talks Bruce Pearl, remembers Rod Bramblett in interview

The Voice of the Auburn Tigers talks about basketball’s rise under Bruce Pearl and his late radio partner Rod Bramblett.

Andy Burcham sat down with Jason Caldwell of Inside the Auburn Tigers for a six-part interview. The two discuss Bruce Pearl’s success and remember the late Rod Bramblett.

What “it” factor does Burcham see in Pearl?

Burcham says,

“For one thing it’s authentic. His enthusiasm, his love for his players, his love for Tennessee when he was there, southern Indiana you know when he won a national championship there, and his love for Auburn is unique and authentic”

Burcham also describes Pearl as being a tough coach who gains the respect of his players. Coach Pearl has made his mission statement at Auburn known and his players understand the biggest goal is to get better.

“His love for them is not just as basketball players at Auburn.”

Burcham uses Anfernee McLemore as an example. McLemore’s fiancee gave birth to his son right after the South Alabama game. Pearl helped arrange for McLemore to fly back to Auburn with AD Allen Greene so that he could get back quicker.

In the last three years, Pearl has taken Auburn basketball to three consecutive 25-win seasons, a regular season SEC championship, an SEC Tournament championship and a Final Four appearance. Auburn basketball was a complete mess when Bruce Pearl arrived. Burcham describes the transformation as “one of the more remarkable stories in Auburn athletic history.”

Remembering Rod Bramblett:

Bramblett passed away right before Auburn baseball played Georgia Tech in the NCAA Regionals. Burcham was not in the broadcast booth. When the Tigers punched their ticket to their first Super Regional since 1999, Burcham knew he had to go. This was history.

They would face off against North Carolina, a team who had never lost in a Super Regional.

The Tigers forced the Tar Heels to a three game series. In the final game Auburn scored 13 runs in the first inning. Burcham remembers thinking, “don’t let this team be the team that blows a 13 run lead.”

Auburn held on and advanced to the College World Series for the first time since 1997. As the last pitch was thrown Burcham remained seated in the broadcast booth. Usually at this moment he’d be down on the field for post game coverage while Rod stayed in the booth to begin the post game show.

Baseball was what bonded the two together. Rod was all he could think about in that moment. In the two minutes between the last pitch and the post game show Burcham recalls, “I got really emotional. I had time to get emotional and gather my senses and then send it down to Paul.”

And when the Tigers finally made it to Omaha Burcham recalls telling Kirk Sampson, “Rod would love this.”

He sure would have.

It’s been an unexpected two weeks for Alabama, especially on offense. After quarterback Tua Tagovailoa sustained a season-ending injury against Mississippi State, it’s been backup QB Mac Jones who’s had to fill the shoes of the once Heisman hopeful. He’ll need to have the best performance of his young collegiate career against what many consider to be the best defensive line in the country. A dominant performance by Alabama against battle-tested Auburn on the road would make a powerful statement to the selection committee, who is unsure of how successful Alabama can be without Tagovailoa. In last week’s game against Western Carolina, Jones went 10-for-12 with 275 yards and three touchdowns. For Jones and the rest of the offense, it’s all about keeping it simple and relying on the players at the skill positions.

Don’t let Auburn’s record fool you. They may have three losses, but they have come against some of the top teams in the country, including No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Georgia and No. 8 Florida. In his weekly press conference, Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn talked about the excitement of this year’s matchup and how last year’s loss will help this year’s team. However, this is the first time true freshman quarterback Bo Nix will get to experience playing in the Iron Bowl. In seven of his last nine games – the losses to Florida and LSU the outliers – he has hit 60 percent or more of his passes. The Tigers dominated Sanford 52-0 in a warmup for this weekend’s game. Nix was a steady 15-for-23 with 150 yards and one touchdown, before being taken out so the backup quarterbacks could get some playing time.
