Huskers trending for top offensive line target

Rocco Spindler is trending to the Huskers.

Nebraska football received a prediction for Notre Dame Fighitng Irish offensive lineman Rocco Spindler on Tuesday. He received a Crystal Ball prediction from Michigan expert EJ Holland in favor of the Huskers.

Spindler has been linked to the Huskers over the past couple days. He took a visit to the program on Tuesday. He also visited Indiana on Saturday. Pittsburgh, Michigan, and Nebraska are the main schools involved in his recruitment.

Spindler would undoubtedly be a major piece for the offensive line. He is a veteran piece who has experience not only starting but playing in big games as well. Nebraska could use additional skill on the interior, and Spindler has the experience needed on the line. He has good size, as he measures in at six-foot-five, 331 pounds.

Predictions are certainly subject to change, especially in today’s recruiting world. Nevertheless, it appears that Nebraska is sitting nicely for Spindler. One has to wonder when an announcement will be made about his destination.

Michigan football in strong position for Notre Dame transfer

Gotta get him this time around! #GoBlue

If at first you don’t succeed, try again. Such is the way of the transfer portal.

Michigan football longed to lure former Clarkston (Mich.) offensive guard Rocco Spindler to Ann Arbor, however, Spindler honored his departed grandfather’s wishes and ended up suiting up for Notre Dame instead.

However, after losing to Ohio State in the national championship game, Spindler opted to hit the transfer portal to seek out other options. And after finishing second for him the first time, the Wolverines are hoping to finish first on the redux.

According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong (subscription required), Spindler is working out both setting up a visit to Ann Arbor as well as the NIL of it all with the Wolverines. However, Nebraska and Indiana are pushing for him as well.

Notre Dame transfer Rocco Spindler is at Nebraska on Tuesday, but that is not slowing down two Big Ten schools in contention to land one of the top remaining offensive linemen in the portal. Spindler visited Indiana this past weekend, while a visit to Michigan this upcoming weekend remains a real possibility, sources tell On3’s Steve Wiltfong and me.

Spindler’s camp and Michigan have been working through NIL negotiations ahead of a visit to Ann Arbor, according to Wiltfong. With the trio of schools all facing enrollment deadlines, a decision will need to come quickly for the Notre Dame transfer when he wraps up his final visit.

Michigan already brought in two interior offensive linemen this cycle in former Ferris State IOL Lawrence Hattar and Cal Poly OL Brady Norton. However, the Wolverines are working not only on Spindler, but also his teammate, center Pat Coogan.

The maize and blue did lose two starting interior linemen this offseason in Josh Priebe (out of eligibility) and center Dom Giudice (transferred to Missouri). Giovanni El-Hadi, who started every game at right guard last year, did announce his return to Ann Arbor, along with center Greg Crippen.

Huskers to get visit from Notre Dame transfer on Tuesday

Rocco Spindler is coming to Lincoln for a visit.

Nebraska football will host Notre Dame offensive lineman Rocco Spindler on Tuesday. This was reported by On3’s Pete Nakos on Monday. (Subscription required)

The tackle visited Indiana on Saturday, while Nebraska, Michigan, and Pittsburgh are also in the mix in his recruitment.

This could be a big visit for the Huskers, as they have been looking to add offensive line depth over the past couple of weeks. Spindler would be able to give them another big-bodied presence on the line and allow for some flexibility in terms of depth.

Spindler’s size is also something that could help the Huskers. He measures in at 6-feet-5, 331 pounds.

The fact that the Huskers are getting a visit on Tuesday is certainly encouraging. Given their pedigree with offensive linemen, Michigan is a threat to the Huskers in this recruitment. Nevertheless, Nebraska has been known to seal the deal with on-campus visits on multiple occasions.

Huskers in the mix for star Notre Dame tackle

Rocco Spindler played a big role on the Notre Dame offensive line this past season.

Nebraska football is in the mix for Notre Dame transfer tackle Rocco Spindler. This was reported by On3’s Pete Nakos on Saturday (subscription required).

The tackle visited Indiana on Saturday, while Nebraska, Michigan, and Pittsburgh are also in the mix in his recruitment.

The fourth-year player entered the transfer portal on Thursday. He started in Week Three against Purdue and was able to carry on the rest of the way. He was a key piece of the offensive line as Notre Dame made it to the college football playoff title game.

Spindler is certainly a name to keep an eye on, as the Huskers could use additional depth on the offensive line. They have tried to land an offensive lineman over the past couple of weeks but have fallen short.

Adding a player like Spindler, who has both experience and championship-game pedigree, would certainly be a boost.

Yet another Notre Dame offensive lineman is in the transfer portal

Notre Dame loses another offensive lineman.

Notre Dame lost another offensive lineman to the transfer portal on Thursday.

At least this time, the player in question was a special-teamer and not a starter.

[autotag]Ty Chan[/autotag] is following [autotag]Pat Coogan[/autotag] and [autotag]Rocco Spindler[/autotag], both starters, into the transfer portal. Fighting Irish players have a five-day window to enter the portal following the national championship game loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Chan’s departure will hurt less than Coogan’s or Spindler’s, but he’s still a depth piece and the fourth offensive lineman to leave. [autotag]Sam Pendleton[/autotag] is leaving, too, to seek more playing time.

The departures of Coogan and Spindler are baffling though details that would explain why could emerge later. For Chan, the choice is likely about getting more playing time.

A pair of Notre Dame offensive linemen enter the transfer portal

The transfer movement continues for the Irish

While Notre Dame football didn’t see any transfer movement during its run in the College Football Playoff, the same can’t be said about following the season-ending loss.

On Wednesday, the Irish saw three players enter the portal, offensive lineman Sam Pendleton, and a pair of wide receivers in Deion Colzie and Jayden Thomas. On Thursday, the exodus continued, as offensive lineman Rocco Spindler and Pat Coogan have now entered the portal and will play their final season somewhere other than South Bend.

After starting the majority of his junior year, Spindler had to battle to regain his spot this season. While he did play in the majority of games in 2024, he wasn’t a starter at the beginning of the year and was inserted into the lineup due to injuries to others.

As for Coogan, he was the heart and soul of the Irish offensive line this fall, but had a similar fate as Spindler as far as playing time. Both of them stepped up when the Irish needed them to, so you have to credit them for being consummate team players.

Notre Dame vs. Ohio State injury report shows clean bill of health for Fighting Irish

Notre Dame says all student-athletes on the two-deep are available for the national championship game.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have no injury report surprises ahead of the national championship game against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

According to the team, all student-athletes listed on the two-deep depth chart are available.

That means that [autotag]Beaux Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] should be good to go. Offensive lineman [autotag]Rocco Spindler[/autotag], too.

Of course, some players like [autotag]Rylie Mills[/autotag] and [autotag]Anthonie Knapp[/autotag] are done for the season. Notre Dame has been hit by the injury bug, but yet the Irish have still advanced this far.

Notre Dame updates its depth chart ahead of College Football Playoff vs. Penn State

Notre Dame has released the depth chart for the Penn State matchup, and it looks good for the health of certain players.

Notre Dame has released the updated depth chart for when the Irish take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl in Miami.

What jumps out is running back [autotag]Jeremiyah Love[/autotag] is listed atop the RB spot, suggesting he is likely to play despite getting banged up in the 23-10 win over Georgia.

[autotag]Rocco Spindler[/autotag] sits atop the right guard spot, so he should be back in action after dealing with a right ankle injury.

On defense, [autotag]Xavier Watts[/autotag] is atop the safety spot. He left the field briefly against Georgia but appears to be OK. Meanwhile, linebacker [autotag]Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa[/autotag] is back on the depth chart as a reserve. [autotag]Junior Tuihalamaka[/autotag] continues to back up [autotag]Joshua Burnham[/autotag] at the vyper pass-rusher position.

Is Rocco Spindler playing today? Injury updates for Notre Dame offensive lineman

Notre Dame offensive lineman Rocco Spindler is dealing with a right ankle injury. Here are the latest updates.

Notre Dame offensive lineman [autotag]Rocco Spindler[/autotag] might return from a right ankle injury in time for the No. 2 Fighting Irish to take on the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Wednesday night.

Notre Dame head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] had initially said Spindler wouldn’t be ready for the College Football Playoff quarterfinal matchup after Spindler suffered the injury during Notre Dame’s 27-17 win over the No. 9 Indiana Hoosiers in the first round of the playoffs.

However, Spindler was seen returning to practice, which is a sign that he could be available.

Rocco Spindler injury update

Rocco Spindler has a right ankle injury but he has returned to practice.

“We’ll see how he progresses over the next couple of days,” Freeman said about Spindler, who is questionable.

How long will Rocco Spindler be out?

It’s unclear if Spindler will play against Georgia. He is questionable.

If Spindler is unable to go, look to Sam Pendleton or Chris Terek to step up and take his place.

Watch as injured Notre Dame offensive lineman returns to practice

Great news for the Irish

With just a few days until Notre Dame football takes on the Georgia Bulldogs in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff, it was great to see one of the Irish’s injured players getting back onto the practice field.

Offensive lineman [autotag]Rocco Spindler[/autotag] was hurt in the win over the Indiana Hoosiers, as head coach Marcus Freeman had said that he would be out of Wednesday nights game. Well, that might not be the case as On3’s Tyler Horka shared a video of the guard back to work with the team.

You can clearly see his right ankle is taped up, but it looks as if Spindler was moving fairly well despite being banged up a bit. Hopefully he is good to go against the Bulldogs, as the offensive line will be tested by Georgia’s impressive defensive front.

Notre Dame offensive lineman Rocco Spindler participates in a drill during a Notre Dame football practice at Irish Athletic Center on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, in South Bend.
