LSU secures a 3-star IOL commit for the 2026 recruiting class

One of the top interior offensive linemen in the 2026 recruiting class has committed to LSU.

One of the top interior offensive linemen in the 2026 recruiting class has committed to LSU.

[autotag]Jalan Chapman[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 275-pound, three-star offensive lineman from New Orleans where he plays for Warren Easton High School. Chapman chose the Tigers over Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas and others.

Chapman becomes the third commit of the 2026 recruiting class joining [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag] and [autotag]Jakai Anderson[/autotag]. All three of the players are from New Orleans. [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is doing what he has done since arriving at Baton Rouge, he is trying to keep the best players from Louisiana to stay home and play for the Tigers.

Chapman is just entering his junior year of high school so he has a couple more years before he puts his name on the dotted line. As we all know, anything can happen when it comes to recruiting. For the moment, LSU is on top and he is committed to the Tigers.

4-star linebacker JaMichael Garrett commits to Auburn over LSU

The Tigers missed out on adding a top 120 prospect to their 2026 class after hosting JaMichael Garrett for a visit on Friday.

LSU has quite a bit of momentum on the recruiting trail, but it missed out on a player it was seen as something of a longshot to land.

Four-star 2026 Gulf Shores, Alabama, linebacker [autotag]JaMichael Garrett[/autotag] committed to Auburn over LSU on Saturday. AU was considered the heavy favorite to land the top 120 prospect nationally, though LSU did receive a crystal ball projection to land him on Friday following his visit to Baton Rouge from 247Sports’ Bryce Koon.

The Tigers hoped that visit would make a major impact, but just a day later, he announced that he was heading to the plains.

Garrett is a talented player who would have given LSU some nice momentum in the 2026 class, which currently features just two commits in defensive lineman [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Jakai Anderson[/autotag] (no relation).

LSU’s 2025 class building momentum for elite 2026 class

Louisiana’s 2026 recruiting class gives LSU the chance at another elite group.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class is shaping up to be the best in Brian Kelly’s career and the best LSU’s had in a long time.

Its led by five-star QB and No. 1 overall recruit [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag]. He’s joined by two more five-stars in CB [autotag]DJ Pickett[/autotag] and RB [autotag]Harlem Berry[/autotag]. Both players are considered the top recruits at their respective positions too.

The 2025 class is far from finished. With just 18 commits, LSU will look to add more. Ensuring the current commits make it past the finish line is critical too.

But it’s never too early to look ahead to 2026 when LSU could assemble a class just as strong. Louisiana is set to have one of its best high school crops ever next year, setting LSU up for another elite haul.

According to On3, 247Sports and Rivals, defensive lineman [autotag]Jahkeem Stewart[/autotag] is the top player in the country. Stewart hails from St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, a place that produced the No. 1 overall recruit 10 years ago in [autotag]Leonard Fournette[/autotag].

Stewart gives LSU the chance to land the nation’s top player in back-to-back classes. There’s a long way to go in his recruitment, but the On3 Crystal Ball gives LSU a 90.9% chance of landing Stewart. Underwood and Stewart in consecutive years is the type of core you can build a national title team around.

Stewart isn’t the only Louisiana product in the top 10. Offensive lineman [autotag]Lamar Brown[/autotag] sits at No. 5 overall. Given how strong LSU offensive line coach [autotag]Brad Davis[/autotag] is at recruiting Louisiana, it would be hard to imagine Brown going anywhere else.

Not further down the list, Baton Rouge safety [autotag]Blaine Bradford[/autotag] is on his way to earning a five-star. He’s out of Catholic High School, where LSU has several previous connections.

LSU has three five-stars committed in 2025 and the Tigers may not even leave the state to reach that total in 2026. With Stewart, Brown and Bradford, LSU can land the strongest core the state’s produced in some time.

There’s also OT [autotag]Brysten Martinez[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Aiden Hall[/autotag], two more top 50 recruits in Louisiana.

What might have LSU fans particularly excited is how good the Louisiana defensive tackle group is in 2026. Stewart’s at the top, but [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag], [autotag]Dylan Berymon[/autotag] and [autotag]Darryus McKinley[/autotag] are three more top 300 prospects that LSU won’t have to go far to get.

Davis was able to turn around LSU’s offensive line after he capitalized on a strong 2022 Louisiana class that included [autotag]Will Campbell[/autotag] and [autotag]Emery Jones Jr.[/autotag]. The 2026 class can have a similar impact on the defensive side for [autotag]Bo Davis[/autotag].

The 2026 cycle has barely begun, but if LSU seizes on the momentum of 2025, it will be another special group. Kelly landed top 10 classes in 2023 and 2024. He came to LSU to work with this caliber of talent.

But there’s a difference between a top-five class and a top-two or three class. Top-five classes keep you in contention, but top-three classes allow you to compete with Georgia. That’s where Kelly and LSU look to be headed.

LSU receives prediction for No. 1 2026 Louisiana receiver

On3’s Shea Dixon issued a prediction for LSU to land top in-state receiver Jabari Mack.

Though most of the focus has been on fleshing out an already strong 2025 recruiting class, LSU has already begun to turn its attention to the following cycle.

The Tigers picked up their first two commitments in the 2026 cycle over the weekend from defensive lineman [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag] and receiver [autotag]Jakai Anderson[/autotag]. Now, they seem to be trending for another top wideout in the class.

[autotag]Jabari Mack[/autotag], a top-100 prospect from Destrehan, received an expert prediction in favor of LSU from On3’s Shea Dixon over the weekend. The No. 6 player in the state according to the 247Sports composite rankings, Mack is the No. 1 receiver in Louisiana.

LSU has already landed one top-10 commitment in the state in 2026 from Anderson, who ranks No. 7 in Louisiana and inside the top 150 nationally.

LSU picks up another 2026 commitment from 3-star safety

The Tigers are starting to pick up steam with their 2026 recruiting class, landing two commits in the last two days.

It took a bit of time to get going, but LSU is finally starting to get some momentum going with its 2026 recruiting class.

The Tigers picked up their first commitment in the cycle from New Orleans four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag], and they’ve now added another commit in [autotag]Jakai Anderson[/autotag] from McDonogh 35, also in New Orleans.

Anderson is a three-star prospect, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He’s the No. 454 player nationally as well as the No. 34 safety and No. 15 prospect in the state of Louisiana. He received an offer from LSU back in November, and he also had offers from the likes of Arkansas, Georgia Tech and Louisville.

LSU is off to a very strong start in the 2025 cycle, boasting eight top-100 commits including a pair of five-star prospects. The Tigers will hope to close out strong in the current cycle and continue their success in 2026.

They’re now off to a solid start with a pair of commits on board.

LSU lands 1st commitment in 2026 class from 4-star defensive lineman

Richard Anderson is the No. 7 prospect in the state of Louisiana.

The Tigers have a strong recruiting class in the works for the 2025 cycle, and now, they have their first pledge in the subsequent 2026 cycle.

On Friday night, four-star Edna Karr (New Orleans) defensive lineman [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag] became the first commit in LSU’s 2026 class. Anderson ranks as the No. 7 overall player in the state of Louisiana and the No. 131 prospect nationally, according to On3.

Anderson, who stands at 6-foot-3.5 and weighs 325 pounds, had previously taken two unofficial visits to Baton Rouge, and he received a pair of predictions in favor of the Tigers from On3’s Billy Embody and Shea Dixon back in March.

LSU’s 2025 class ranks No. 2 in the nation at the moment, and it will hope to close the current cycle strong and enter the next one with some momentum. Anderson gives the Tigers a strong start.

Gators among top-2 schools for blue-chip defensive line prospect

Florida is high on the list for this coveted NOLA product in the 2026 cycle.

Billy Napier and Co. have been grinding away at the college football recruiting front since the re-opening of the contact period and the program has its sights set not just on the upcoming 2025 cycle, but also on the following class in 2026.

Among those in the latter category is four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag] out of New Orleans (Louisiana) Edna Karr. The 6-foot-3.5-inch, 325-pound trench warrior recently revealed his top teams to Gators Online, which included the Florida Gators.

“It’s LSU and then the University of Florida,” Anderson offered after his recent trip to see the Orange and Blue in Gainesville on Tuesday.

Campus visit highlights

“I liked everything about the visit, like, the dorms, the people and coaches. They really fit a lot (in my recruitment),” Anderson said.

The coaching staff was certainly one of the major highlights.

“I loved the energy and love being coached by a group of guys who are going to show me love on and off the field, and they were showing that. I love the energy and they put in the work, so it’s a great fit.”

In particular, running backs coach Jabbar Juluke and defensive line coach Gerald Chatman stood out to the high school sophomore.

“Coach Juluke, he’s a great man and from New Orleans, so he was showing a lot of love. His message to me was to just enjoy the process and enjoy everything,” he noted.

“Coach Chatman was real and I loved his energy. It would be nice to be coached by him.”

Recruiting rankings

Anderson is ranked No. 139 overall and No. 14 at his position nationally according to the On3 industry rankings while Rivals has him at Nos. 160 and 13, respectively. LSU has a 98.1% chance of signing him according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine.

LSU offers 2026 defensive lineman from the Boot

The Tigers have offered another 2026 prospect from Edna Karr High School in Richard Anderson.

[autotag]Richard Anderson[/autotag] is a 6-foot-4, 280-pound defensive lineman from the class of 2026. He is from New Orleans, where he plays for Edna Karr High School. The Edna Karr Cougars finished the 2022 season 7-4 with a loss to Catholic-B.R. in the second round of the playoffs.

With Edna Karr in LSU’s backyard, [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and his staff have been able to watch them play a few times this year and they have found a couple of freshmen standouts that they’ve offered. The Tigers are slim on the defensive line so Kelly has been attacking that area of need in the next few recruiting classes.
