Report: Daniel Jones could return as Giants starter in Week 10 Cowboys meeting

From @ToddBrock24f7: The Cowboys are 7-1 versus Jones and beat him 40-0 in Week 1; he could make his return from a neck injury in the Week 10 rematch.

The New York Giants are looking at Week 10’s meeting with the Cowboys as a potential date for quarterback Daniel Jones to make his return from injury. That news came Saturday from NFL insider Adam Schefter, who cited league sources.

Jones last played Oct. 8 in a 31-16 loss to Miami; a neck injury has sidelined him since. While there is reportedly a chance the fifth-year passer could make his comeback next week in a visit to Las Vegas, Jones has not even been cleared for contact yet, making that timeline unlikely.

As Schefter notes, “the road game in Dallas is the realistic goal, provided there are no setbacks with Jones’ neck injury, according to sources.”

Tyrod Taylor has been the starter in Jones’s place. The journeyman led Big Blue to a near-upset of Buffalo in Week 6 and notched the team’s second win of the season last week versus Washington. He has not committed a turnover in either of his two starts.

Dallas pounded the Giants by a 40-0 score in the season opener, picking off Jones twice and returning one for a touchdown, causing him to fumble twice, holding him to just 104 passing yards, and sacking him seven times.

Jones is 1-7 against the Cowboys in his pro career with five career interceptions, his most against any opponent.

Schroder, Gallinari, and Diallo all available against Mavericks

Billy Donovan said all three will play without a minutes restriction against Dallas on Tuesday night.

If Oklahoma City’s New Year resolution was to get healthy, they’re already well on their way.

Per Maddie Lee of The Oklahoman, Billy Donovan announced Tuesday night that Dennis Schroder, Danilo Gallinari, and Hamidou Diallo will all be available against the Dallas Mavericks.

Schroder and Gallinari have both been dealing with ankle soreness. Schroder missed Sunday’s win over the Raptors after experiencing soreness in his right ankle following Friday’s win over Charlotte.

Gallinari didn’t even make the recent road trip with the Thunder. He has missed the last four games with left ankle soreness that he first felt in pregame prior to Oklahoma City’s win over the Clippers.

The best injury update from Tuesday, however, might be the return of Hamidou Diallo. Diallo missed the last 17 games for the Thunder after suffering a hyperextended right elbow in OKC’s loss to the Lakers back on Nov. 22.

The initial timetable for Diallo was four-to-six weeks.

Donovan said that all three will play without a minutes restriction on Tuesday night.

Oklahoma City will look to close out the 2019 calendar year with a home win over the Mavericks.

The Thunder heads back out on the road to start the New Year, going to San Antonio on January 2.
