Twitter reacts to Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s flippant response to reporter

Twitter was less than thrilled with #Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling after his flippant response to a reporter on Friday.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling has had a hard time finding his footing in the Kansas City Chiefs offense this season. The sixth-highest-paid player on the team, Valdes-Scantling has produced just 17 catches for 273 yards and one touchdown through 12 games in 2023.

Digital sports reporter P.J. Green of FOX4 News Kansas City asked Valdes-Scantling about his recent struggles on Friday in the Chiefs locker room and was met with a flippant response from the veteran wide receiver. Valdes-Scantling was dismissive of the line of questioning, indicating that he didn’t know what Green was asking about.

“I don’t really know what you’re referring to,” Valdes-Scantling replied when asked about the dropped balls that have cost Kansas City valuable positioning in the AFC playoff race. “It is what it is. It’s football, [you’re] not going to make every play. It’s not really anything going on that doesn’t happen in any other season, that doesn’t happen to any other player in this league.”

Chiefs fans on social media had a field day with the former South Flordia Bull’s comment, especially after he replied to Green’s video on Twitter.

Reporter: Yellowstone bison encounter ‘a reminder of my journey’

A year has passed since TV reporter Deion Broxton gained widespread notoriety for his “I ain’t messing with you” bison encounter in Yellowstone National Park.

A year has passed since TV reporter Deion Broxton gained widespread notoriety for his “I ain’t messing with you” bison encounter in Yellowstone National Park.

Broxton’s tweet, revealing his deep concern and featuring humble  commentary as a herd of enormous bison approached, became a wonderful distraction from from the barrage of harrowing news related to the growing COVID-19 pandemic. (The tweet has garnered more than 13 million views.)

On Thursday, marking the anniversary of that unforgettable moment while he was on assignment for NBC Montana, Broxton implied that it helped change his life from a professional standpoint.

Now a reporter for Iowa News Now, he tweeted:

“A year later. I get tired of talking about this video. But it’s a reminder of my journey. I couldn’t get a job on TV because of my hood/Baltimore accent. I spent thousands on a speech coach. Fast forward, this week I learned I won an award from the Iowa Broadcast News Association.”

About 4,600 bison reside in Yellowstone National Park and provide lifetime memories for tourists who appreciate viewing them from a safe distance.

But considering that bison can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds, and are surprisingly quick and unpredictable, messing with them is never wise.

Park regulations suggest staying at least 25 yards from bison at all times.

Yellowstone bison interrupt TV reporter, and it’s hilarious

A reporter for NBC Montana has gained social media fame for his reaction during a close bison encounter inside Yellowstone National Park.

A reporter for NBC Montana has gained social media fame for his hilarious – and wise – reaction during a close bison encounter inside Yellowstone National Park.

“Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh no… I ain’t messing with you,” Deion Broxton says in the accompanying footage, after noticing the advancing herd and before ducking for cover behind the crew vehicle. “Oh no. I’m not messing with you.”

Bison do not appear in the footage Broxton tweeted Wednesday, which was later shared to Facebook by NBC News Montana (both clips were widely circulated). But Broxton later tweeted a clip of several bison he caught on video “once I got a safe distance away.”

It’s worth noting that bison, which can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds, are the largest land mammals in North America. They’re not typically aggressive toward humans, but they’re wild and unpredictable, and warrant a wide berth.

The footage was shared to Facebook by Yellowstone National Park, which wrote: “A perfect example of what to do when approached by wildlife! Thanks Deion for putting the Yellowstone pledge into action!”

Part of the pledge, requested of all park visitors, is to treat wild animals with respect by giving them distance and staying out of their way.

Yellowstone, which incorporates portions of Montana, Wyoming and Idaho, has been in the news after announcing that it was closing indefinitely because of COVID-19 pandemic.
