Five players who stepped up big for Colorado against USC

These five players stepped up big for the #cubuffs on Saturday

With Travis Hunter, Shilo Sanders and other key players out, several Buffs who hadn’t seen the field much this season, including a couple of true freshmen, stepped up when needed on Saturday against USC.

Yes, Colorado’s comeback attempt came up just short, but head coach Deion Sanders gained a good deal of confidence in multiple second and third-string players. The shorthanded Buffs even outscored the vaunted Trojans by 13 points in the second half thanks to their depth, something that many thought Colorado lacked heading into this season.

Below are five players who stepped up big for the Buffs on Saturday against USC:

Buffs bolster offensive line by picking up Liberty transfer Reggie Young

ICYMI: Colorado’s O-line gained a commitment from Liberty transfer Reggie Young

As our Tony Cosolo recently argued, Colorado’s focus in the transfer portal this summer needs to be directed toward recruiting offensive and defensive linemen. The Buffs hold a good deal of talent on the outside, but that won’t matter much without strength up front.

Over the weekend, however, head coach Deion Sanders made significant progress in that area with former Florida State DL Bishop Thomas and Liberty transfer OL Reggie Young both committing on Sunday.

After seeing action in nine games last season for the Flames, the 6-foot-4, 293-pound Young entered the portal on April 17 and is considered a graduate transfer. His college career began at Northwestern State and also included a stop at Iowa Central Community College.
