With no resume date for Bills-Bengals, sportsbooks are voiding wagers and refunding bettors

Several sportsbooks announced they are refunding unsettled Bills-Bengals bets.

In light of news that Monday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals won’t be resumed this week, several sportsbooks are voiding out unsettled wagers and returning money to bettors.

The game was postponed in the first quarter after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed from cardiac arrest and needed to have his heartbeat restored on the field. The latest update from the team on Tuesday was that Hamlin remains in critical condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

With no word on if or when the game will be finished, Bally Bet, BetMGM, Caesars, FanDuel and Hard Rock were among the sportsbooks to announce the cancelation of bets.

BetMGM and FanDuel said multi-leg parlays that include voided bets will remain active with only the voided leg removed and the price adjusted.

In addition to unsettled markets, Hard Rock announced it’s also voiding out losing markets from Bills-Bengals.

Thoughts and prayers remain with Hamlin and his loved ones.

Seahawks unlikely to have fans at home games this season

The Seahawks share CenturyLink Field with the Seattle Sounders, who announced on Friday that they will not be allowed to host fans at games.

The Seattle Seahawks may be the next team to announce that they will not be allowing fans at home games in 2020.

On Friday, the Seattle Sounders, with whom the Seahawks share CenturyLink Field, e-mailed their season ticket holders to inform them that the state of Washington is prohibiting the Sounders from hosting fans this season due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Although the NFL is requiring all fans to wear masks at football games, they are leaving the issue of fan attendance up to the individual teams. The New York Giants and Jets announced on Monday that they will not be allowing fans at MetLife Stadium “until further notice” in accordance with New Jersey state guidelines. Multiple other teams, such as the Raiders and the Rams, are also considering such a policy.

Seattle’s raucous “12th Man” fanbase is infamous for providing one of the biggest home-field advantages in the league. It has set two Guinness World Records for loudest crowd roar at an outdoor stadium, reaching 136.6 decibels in 2013 and 137.6 decibels in 2014. Coach Pete Carroll has promised to push for piped-in crowd noise in the event of no fans to maintain CenturyLink’s status as one of the NFL’s most difficult places to play.

The Seahawks are scheduled to host their first 2020 home game on Sept. 20 against the New England Patriots.

Seahawks season ticket holder poll: Will you be asking for a refund for 2020?

The Seattle Seahawks have offered season ticket holders the option of a one-year deferral and refund on their 2020 seats? Will you take it?

The Seattle Seahawks sent an email to season ticket holders Thursday morning, offering fans a couple of options ahead of the 2020 NFL season.

With the growing number of positive COVID-19 cases around the nation, the Seahawks have joined a number of other teams around the league now offering one-year deferrals to season-ticket holders and complete refunds or future credits for deposits already paid.

Season ticket holders were given two choices in the email:

  1. Pause their season ticket membership for one year and either receive a refund or credit towards next season’s purchase; or
  2. Wait and see if games will actually be played this year based on updated medical information and government mandates in the near future.

Have you decided what you are planning to do ahead of the 2020 season? If so, please take a minute to complete this short poll and be sure and check back often to see what the rest of the 12s have opted to do this year.
