Former Ravens LB Patrick Queen on signing with Steelers: ‘Better atmosphere for me’

Patrick Queen says Pittsburgh offers a better atmosphere for him to flourish

Patrick Queen is one of the best trash talkers in the NFL, and he’s already set the scene and written the script for two intense matchups between the Ravens and Steelers.

Queen bet on himself in 2023 and departed Baltimore for a three-year, $41 million deal that made him the fifth highest-paid inside linebacker behind former teammate Roquan Smith ($20 million), San Francisco’s Fred Warner ($19 million), Chicago’s Tremaine Edmunds ($18 million) and Buffalo’s Matt Milano ($14.2 million).

Queen is catching flak for recent comments he made to The Athletic’s Mark Kaboly in which he described everything he likes about Pittsburgh more than Baltimore.

“I don’t care … it’s the truth,” Queen said. “I am not saying anything bad about them. I am just speaking the truth.”

“It was a no-brainer,” Queen said of joining the Steelers. “At the end of the day, money makes you happy, but you also have to win to be happy. I’d rather win and be happy than be miserable with a lot of money. It’s a better atmosphere here for me. Everybody is cool, the people are cool, the players are cool and the food spots are better. I am a big food guy. I love food. I am more of a true food guy rather than a seafood guy. I like meat and stuff like that. It’s just a better atmosphere for me here.”

Queen has not missed a game in his four NFL seasons, making 67 starts and totaling 454 tackles and 13.5 sacks with one Pro Bowl selection. He’ll now step into the center of arguably the NFL’s most intense and most physical rivalry.

Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman is hoping for a lot of movement at QB in the Top 10 of NFL draft

Eagles GM Howie Roseman may have his eye on an impact player or he’s looking to trade down after saying that he’s hopeful for a lot of QB movement during the 2023 NFL Draft

After two years of uncertainty at the position, Howie Roseman has his quarterback of the present and future in All-Pro signal-caller, Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia has two top 10 picks in April’s NFL draft and without any need for a quarterback, the Eagles could be looking to land an elite player or trade back.

During his NFL combine press conference, Roseman was asked about potentially evaluating the four top prospects at the position.

The Eagles GM looked relaxed when stating that he’s hoping for a lot of movement at the quarterback position in the top 10.

Teams will likely jockey for the opportunity to draft Bryce Young (Alabama), C.J. Stroud (Ohio State), Will Levis (Kentucky), and Anthony Richardson (Florida) in those first 8-10 picks.

The idea is that things could get interesting at No. 10 overall if one of the quarterbacks starts to slip and a quarterback-needy team calls Philadelphia about a potential trade.

Updated list of DC candidates the Eagles could target with Jonathan Gannon heading to Arizona

We’re looking at an updated list of coaching candidates that could replace Jonathan Gannon as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator

Nick Sirianni now officially has his own coaching tree after the Colts hired Shane Steichen and the Cardinals hired Jonathan Gannon on Tuesday.

Sirianni rightfully gets a lot of credit for the Eagles’ success.

Philadelphia’s second-year head coach has far exceeded expectations and proven that he was the perfect target for the role. However, it’s important to remember that Shane Steichen had a massive role in the offense.

Gannon had interviews with Denver, Houston, and Minnesota last offseason and with Philadelphia reaching the Super Bowl and having a top-five defense, it was only a matter of time before he accepted an offer.

Sirianni knew his assistants were wanted and he stated has a plan for their departures.

“Of course, I want to keep these guys, they’re great coordinators, but in the event that I lose them, I have an idea of what I want to do at both spots. The answer is sometimes, yes, it’s in the building, and sometimes it’s outside of the building. But I feel like we have a lot of good options, and I feel like we have a lot of good options in the building that we’d be excited about if that were to happen.”

With Gannon landing one of the coveted vacancies, here’s an updated list of eight potential targets that could lead the Eagles’ defense in 2023.
