Dubs forward Draymond Green thinks Celtics’ Jayson Tatum has been ‘playing well’ despite his shot being off

There is respect between the two former Team USA members.

One might get the impression from Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green that he has only contempt for his opponents in the 2022 NBA Finals, but the Dubs big man has made it known more than once that he has quite a bit of respect for Boston Celtics star forward and fellow Team USA member Jayson Tatum.

Asked about how his former Olympic teammate has been doing in the Finals to date, the Michigan State product shared his thoughts on the Celtics star’s play against Golden State to date. “It’s tough,” he explained. “You’re experiencing something for the first time.”

“I think he’s handled it well,” added Green. “He’s maybe not shot the ball as well as he’d like or everyone else would like, but overall I think he’s been playing well, and that’s why it’s a 2-2 series.”

Whether the St. Louis native finds his shot or not in the Finals may very well end up deciding what has been an electric series so far given, as the Warriors forward noted, things are knotted up at two games each.

We’ll see how things play out soon enough, with Game 5 set to play out on Monday night.

Inconsistent Celtics need to right the ship after Game 4 loss

“We have to come out and respond,’ said Horford after Boston’s Game 4 loss.

Al Horford was asked about the Boston Celtics’ seemingly inconsistent play after Game 4 of his team’s 2022 NBA Finals series with the Golden State Warriors, dialing in on why there seem to be things the Celtics can control that they, for whatever reason, do not. All postseason long, Boston has been inconsistent and has often had trouble putting 2 good games together in a row.

This is normal for young stars and young teams in general throughout the NBA. Consistency comes with age and more game experience. All the more concerning that both of the team’s veterans, Marcus Smart and Horford, have had so much trouble with consistency.

Smart and Horford are crucial to the Celtics winning and neither showed up in the 4th quarter when it mattered most. The guys who you rely on to stop the bleeding and right the ship, have fallen short multiple times this postseason run.

Horford said later, “This team, we’ve shown all year when our backs are against the wall, we have to come out and respond. Obviously, it’s a big challenge ahead, but it’s something that we have to (do)”.

If the Celtics have any chance of winning the series, they need their two vets to show up and make a difference on both ends of the floor.

‘It’s not going to be easy,’ says Celtics’ Jayson Tatum of beating the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals

It would help if Boston spent less time beating themselves, however.

Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum was clearly bothered by his team’s disappointing Game 4 loss to the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals, a lost opportunity to go up 3-1 instead sees the series tied up at 2 games each through the heroics of Golden State star Stephen Curry.

Speaking with the media after the 107-97 loss, the St. Louis native spoke on the loss, and whether it was more a matter of the team letting the game get away from them, or the historic, 43-point, 10-rebound performance erupting from Curry at TD Garden on Friday night.

“It’s tough — you’ve got to give them credit, they played well. They made some big shots,” related Tatum.

Klay Thompson has high praise for Steph Curry’s Game 4 performance against the Celtics

Klay Thompson had high praise for Steph Curry’s performance in Game 4 against the Celtics.

With the Golden State Warriors trailing 2-1 in the NBA Finals, Steph Curry put together a heroic performance in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics on Friday night.

The Warriors All-Star point guard recorded a game-high 43-point performance on 14-of-26 shooting from the floor with seven 3-pointers. Curry added 10 rebounds as the Warriors secured a much-needed victory to even the series 2-2.

Throughout their career, Curry and Klay Thompson have shared the backcourt for countless games in the NBA Finals. On Friday night in Boston, Thompson ranked his teammate’s performance in Game 4 against the Celtics near the top.

When asked about his fellow Splash Brother’s Game 4 performance after Golden State’s 107-97 win on Friday over Boston, Thompson had high praise for Curry’s double-double effort. Thompson ranked the performance in Game 4 at No. 1 on Curry’s Finals resume.

I think probably No. 1. I mean, this was nearly a must-win game, and to go out there and shoot as efficiently as he did, and grab 10 rebounds and they were attacking him on defense; I mean, his conditioning is second-to-none in this league.

Steph played incredible.

Celtics set a number of records in their Game 3 win over the Golden State Warriors

Another game in the history books.

The Boston Celtics had another impressive win against the Golden State Warriors in their 2022 NBA Finals series with the West Coast franchise, with a number of notable statistical and historic goings-on having transpired on the way the Celtics’ 116-100 Game 3 victory on Wednesday night.

A mere 2 wins away from winning the team’s league-record 18th NBA championship (and breaking the current tie between their longtime rival Los Angeles Lakers), Boston already has their focus squarely trained on Game 4. But we did not want to let all the finer points of the Celtics’ last win go unnoticed amid all the attention the future is already getting.

So with that said, let’s take a look at some of the records broken, set, and created on Game 3.

Celtics’ Al Horford hits Jaylen Brown with a touchdown pass for an easy dunk in Game 3

A heads-up defensive strike from Marcus Smart led to an impressive highlight connection between Al Horford and Jaylen Brown.

The Boston Celtics grabbed a pivotal Game 3 victory against the Golden State Warriors Wednesday night. The home team outlasted the Dubs, landing a loud 116-110 win. It was a massive bounce-back performance after a clunker in Game 2. As usual, Boston’s stingy defense was a big part of the story. The Celtics held the Warriors to just 78 field goal attempts for the game, forcing turnovers and limiting second-chance opportunities. Golden State found it nearly impossible to overcome the defensive attack.

On the other side, the Celtics looked much improved. The team in green shot better than they have in previous outings, and perhaps most importantly, logged 28 assists. Boston is at its best when they’re passing the rock.

One specific play captured the action in a nutshell — a slick defensive play from Marcus Smart forces a Golden State turnover. And as the Warriors are still registering the change in possession, Al Horford inbounds the ball, connecting with Jaylen Brown. It was one of the top highlights of the 2022 NBA Finals.

The Celtics converted on an easy dunk in the blink of an eye, all thanks to the club’s trademark defense. Relive the moment here:

NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors’ loss in Game 3 of NBA Finals after Celtics dominate fourth quarter

Following a dominant fourth quarter from the Celtics, Twitter reacted to the Warriors’ loss in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.

After falling down by as many as 18 points early, the Golden State Warriors slowly chipped away at the Boston Celtics’ lead through the first three-quarters of Game 3 on Wednesday night.

The Warriors used their signature third-quarter run to erase the Celtics’ 12-point advantage at halftime. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 25 points with six triples in the third quarter to cut Boston’s lead to only four points before the final 12 minutes.

While the Warriors landed a haymaker in the third quarter, the Celtics dropped the knockout punch in the fourth quarter. The Celtics opened the fourth quarter on a run to stretch their lead back to double-figures in minutes.

Tight defense from Boston turned into Golden State turnovers as the Celtics used a dominant fourth quarter to seal a victory in Game 3, 116-100.

Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart all tallied 24 or more points on the way to the Celtics grabbing a commanding 2-1 lead in the 2022 edition of the NBA Finals.

Following Boston’s win in Game 3, the NBA community on Twitter chimed in with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans, analysts and players were saying on Wednesday night.

Third quarter play, turnovers a recurrent problem for Boston Celtics, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps

Are there simple fixes to Boston’s major problems?

“If I’m the Celtics, I’m focused on two things that have frankly been a problem for them for the entire playoffs going into Game 3,” said ESPN’s Tim Bontemps on a recent episode of “NBA Today” focused on the Boston Celtics‘ NBA Finals series with the Golden State Warriors. “That’s turnovers and play in the third quarter.”

The Celtics have indeed been their own worst enemies with their ball control all game long and how they come out to play after halftime. And if left uncorrected, one of the most important opportunities of their lives might very well slip through their fingers as a result.

Can the Celtics solve these seemingly minor but actually critical aspects of their game in time to win it all?

Check out the clip embedded above to get Bontemps’ perspective on how Boston can improve their odds to win the 2022 NBA Championship.
