Watch: Steph and Ayesha Curry throw out first pitch at A’s vs. Astros game

On Wednesday, Steph and Ayesha Curry hit the baseball diamond for the first pitch at the A’s vs. Astros game.

The Steph Curry championship tour continues to roll on.

Since winning his fourth title with the Golden State Warriors, Curry has played in a celebrity golf tournament and hosted the ESPY awards in Hollywood. On Wednesday, he hit the baseball diamond.

Alongside his wife, Ayesha, Curry took the mound to represent their family’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation before the Oakland Athletics met the Houston Astros on Wednesday at the Oakland Coliseum.

While Ayesha fired her pitch off a bounce toward the plate, Curry ripped his fastball a bit outside.

Despite Curry’s miss on the mound, the reigning NBA Finals Most Valuable Player was a good luck charm for the A’s on Wednesday. Behind home runs from Stephen Vogt and Stephen Piscotty, the A’s sealed a 4-2 victory over the Astros to complete a three-game sweep against their division rival.

College football world reacts to Notre Dame jersey reveal

What was your initial reaction to the video and the uniforms?

Chances are strong that by now you’ve seen Notre Dame’s alternate uniforms that they’ll wear for the [autotag]Shamrock Series[/autotag] game against BYU this October.  If you haven’t then you can check out an up-close photo gallery of the uniforms and before your day is done you’re going to want to spend four minutes watching the EPIC video Notre Dame used to unveil the jerseys.

I really like the jerseys, I love the white, and my only real beef with them is that they have a bit of a Georgia Tech feel.

The video however has no flaw in it whatsoever.  If there is an award for “Best College Football Uniform Reveal Video” then this one is pretty much Secretariat at the Belmont.

Check out below how the college football world reacted to seeing it.

Personally, [autotag]Michael Mayer[/autotag]’s line about the color of the jersey was my favorite.

Lakers guard Austin Reaves wants to shed his two nicknames

Austin Reaves speaks out on his nicknames that “probably aren’t the best.”

Austin Reaves was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dreary 2021-22 season for the Los Angeles Lakers.

From the start of the schedule, he showed an ability to hit outside shots, handle the ball, make plays for others, defend and hustle.

He quickly earned two nicknames as a result: “Hillbilly Kobe,” an ode to his rural Southern upbringing, and “AR-15,” a reference to his initials and jersey number.

But Reaves wants to drop both nicknames.

Via Lakers Daily:

“Lakers fans gave him two different nicknames, but out of respect for gun violence victims and the late Kobe Bryant, Reaves seemingly wants to distance himself from the nicknames ‘AR-15’ and ‘Hillbilly Kobe.’

“‘I don’t condone any gun violence that happens around our country,’ Reaves told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. ‘But you can’t really control what [nickname] people give you. I mean, I didn’t come out and say my name was that. There’s been others, like the “Hillbilly Kobe,” that probably aren’t the best thing in the situation that’s going on, with Kobe’s passing.'”

The AR-15, a popular semi-automatic rifle, has reportedly been used in several mass shootings across the country, including the one at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

Reaves’ name has come up in trade talks lately, a sign that he is seen as valuable around the league. But there is no sign the Lakers are open to trading him for someone such as Kyrie Irving or Buddy Hield.

The 6-foot-5 wing has been working hard on his craft this summer, as he has reportedly gained over 10 pounds of muscle.

Warriors commit to running it back, Kevin Durant pursuit over

The Golden State Warriors are committed to keeping their roster together, ending any chance of a Kevin Durant reunion.

The Golden State Warriors General Manager Bob Myers was seen at the ESPY’s earlier this week and made it clear that he’s committed to running it back with the roster.

Myers talked with Mark Medina of NBA.com, who pretty quickly said, “I like our team where it’s at.”

“I want to give the guys a chance to do it again. It’s a good group. We’re lucky. It’ll be fun to see,” Myers said. “We were really hunting last year. Now I guess we’re back to being the hunted, which I didn’t think we’d be. We’ll see. I think we can handle it. We kept most of it together, but we have to stay healthy. I didn’t think we’d make it last year, but we did. I watch like you do. We’ll see what happens.”

Following the team’s NBA championship just a couple of months ago, the Warriors have made essential but minimal offseason moves. The team signed Donte DiVincenzo to a two-year deal and extended Kevon Looney’s contract but otherwise hasn’t done much.

This likely means that the Warriors are done pursuing a trade for former MVP Kevin Durant, despite rumors that Durant has had contact with Warriors stars.

Report: Warriors sign undrafted rookie Trevion Williams to Exhibit 10 deal

The Golden State Warriors have reportedly added an undrafted rookie center with an Exhibit 10 contract.

While the free agent market might be winding down, the Golden State Warriors are getting active. After bringing players like Mac McClung and JaMychal Green to the team before training camp, the Warriors reportedly added an undrafted rookie to the roster.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Warriors have agreed to a contract with Trevion Williams. The former Purdue center’s contract with the Warriors will be an Exhibit 10 deal, per Charania.

Via @ShamsCharania on Twitter:

The 21-year-old big man spent four years in West Lafayette with the Boilermakers, averaging 10.8 points on 53.1% shooting from the field with 7.0 rebounds over 130 career games. In his final season at Purdue, Williams played alongside top-pick Jaden Ivey, averaging 12.0 points on 54.7% shooting from the floor with 7.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 20.1 minutes per contest.

After going undrafted, Williams spent Summer League with the Boston Celtics. In five games with Boston in Las Vegas, the 6-foot-10 center tallied 7.4 points on 45.7% shooting from the floor with 6.6 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game.

Williams will now have the chance to battle for a roster spot in Golden State at training camp. Williams will have the chance to add to the Warriors’ frontcourt with veteran Kevon Looney and third-year big James Wiseman.

Brooklyn Nets not tempted with Tyler Herro-based trade for Kevin Durant

The Nets are not interested in a Tyler Herro-based trade package.

Miami Heat guard Max Strus talked a little about Kevin Durant joining the team with hope, but there are reports that the team is uninterested in a trade package revolving around Tyler Herro.

South Florida reporter Barry Jackson reports that the Nets are uninterested in a trade package for Durant that revolves around Sixth Man of the Year, Herro. Jackson said that the only chance for Durant to land in Miami is for Durant to insist that he land in Miami.

[pickup_prop id=”25864″]

Durant won’t be traded unless the Nets feel that they’re receiving an All-Star or two and a slate of draft picks. The Timberwolves’ trade with Rudy Gobert inflated the trade market this offseason.

After an impressive Summer League run, Mac McClung has reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors.

One day after reportedly welcoming JaMychal Green to the team, the Golden State Warriors made another addition to their roster during the 2022 offseason.
