The New York Jets (4-11) face a tough road test this week when they head to Baltimore (11-2) to take on a red hot Ravens team. New York won the first meeting 19-16 in overtime in 1996 and 24-16 in 2016, the last time these two teams played.

Jets vs. Ravens

When: Thursday, December 12

Time: 8:20 p.m. ET

TV: FOX

Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

After losing 22-6 to the Bengals to give them their lone win of the season two weeks ago, the Jets bounced back with a narrow 22-21 win over the Dolphins. The victory at home gave New York its third win in four games. Sam Darnold completed 20 of 36 passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Le’veon Bell was too sick to play, which allowed Bilal Powell to get the start. Powell carried the ball 19 times for 74 yards, while Robby Anderson led the team with seven catches for 116 yards and one touchdown. Bell believes he isn’t getting enough touches this season, so it will be interesting to see his role in the offense over the next three games.

In last week’s win, the Jets were able to keep the Dolphins out of the end zone and held them to seven field goals. However, Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick totaled over 300 yards of offense. Defensively, the Jets trail only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when it comes to stopping the run. New York is holding opponents to an average of 78.8 YPG and will face its toughest test of the season against the NFL’s best rushing attack led by Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram.

The Baltimore Ravens have accepted every challenge thrown their way this season and the Jets should be no exception. Offensively, the Ravens are posting an average of 408.2 yards per game, with a league-leading 200.9 YPG on the ground. Baltimore has won eight games in a row including back-to-back games against the 49ers and Bills. Lamar Jackson threw for 145 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the 24-17 win in Buffalo. He also added 40 yards on the ground to bring his total to 1,017 and join Michael Vick (2006) as the only quarterbacks to rush for 1,000 yards in the season. However, Buffalo’s defense proved that the Ravens can be stifled. Baltimore’s 118 yards on the ground and 257 total yards were both season lows.

Championship teams find ways to win and that’s exactly what the Ravens have done in back-to-back weeks. The defense stepped up and did what it needed to do as well. Josh Allen was sacked six times and Buffalo was held to just 209 yards of total offense, its lowest on the season. Matthew Judon paved the way with five tackles and one-and a half sacks.
