Rams schedule: Is Los Angeles playing today?

Are the Rams playing today? Here’s a look at the schedule and the games to come.

It’s been a tough start to the year for the Los Angeles Rams, who come in at 2-4 after their first six games. Their two wins came against the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders by a combined eight points, so even their victories have been by narrow margins.

Now in Week 8, the Rams are gearing up for their next game against the Minnesota Vikings as they seek their first two-game winning streak of the season. The Vikings come in at 5-1 following their loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 7, tied for first in the NFC West.

The Rams badly need a win to keep pace with the rest of the NFC West, which is now led by the Seattle Seahawks. Below is a look at the Rams’ upcoming schedule with their 11 remaining games in 2024.

Rams schedule: Is Los Angeles playing today?

Are the Rams playing today? Here’s a look at the schedule and the games to come.

Will the Los Angeles Rams be on the field today in Week 6 of the 2024 NFL season?

Following a frustrating 24-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Rams are on a bye week and will return to the field on Oct. 20 when they host the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7.

After their week off, the Rams will return to action next Sunday against the Raiders, the team’s third home game of the season. The Raiders are 2-3 through five games and will face the Steelers on Sunday afternoon as they attempt to get back to .500.

It’s a pivotal game for Los Angeles, which desperately needs a win after starting 1-4. Another loss will sink the Rams to 1-5 and keep them in the basement of the NFC West, giving them one of the worst records in football, if not the worst.

Rams’ schedule has been toughest in NFL but it’s going to get easier

No team has had a tougher schedule thus far than the Rams but things will lighten up a bit after the bye

It was clear from the moment the 2024 schedule was released that the Los Angeles Rams had their work cut out for them in the first five weeks of the season. With matchups against contenders like the Lions, 49ers and Packers, as well as difficult road games against the Cardinals and Bears, it always looked like a daunting start to the year for Los Angeles.

And sure enough, the Rams struggled to find much success before their Week 6 bye. They’re 1-4 through five games and sit in the basement of the NFC West. The season is far from over but they can’t afford to lose many more games.

The good news is the schedule is about to lighten up and get a bit easier. That’s not to say the Rams will have an easy slate in the final 12 weeks, but it shouldn’t be as difficult as the first five games.

Ben Baldwin made a chart to show each team’s past and remaining strength of schedule using the betting market rankings and the Rams had the toughest schedule through Week 5 – by a pretty wide margin, too. As for their remaining schedule, only nine teams have an easier finish to the year than the Rams in the final 13 weeks.

Tankathon views the Rams’ remaining schedule as being a little bit tougher based on win percentage, ranking it 15th in the NFL. the toughest opponents on the remaining slate are the Vikings, Bills, Seahawks (twice) and Eagles, according to Tankathon, which doesn’t even take into consideration the fact that the Rams have to face the 49ers again.

On the more favorable side, they get to face the Patriots, Raiders, Saints, Dolphins and Jets. The Cardinals crushed the Rams in their first meeting but they’re not necessarily the toughest opponent after getting steamrolled by the Commanders two weeks ago.

Regardless of how easy or tough the Rams’ remaining schedule might be, they need to win at least eight of their final 12 games in order to have any shot at the playoffs.

Rams release jersey schedule for 2024 season

The Rams released their uniform schedule for the 2024 season and they’ll be wearing white jerseys most often

Since rebranding in 2020, the Los Angeles Rams have three different jerseys they can choose from each week, along with three different pants colors. They’re still rolling with only one helmet option but there are still a good number of uniform combinations in their wardrobe.

The Rams released their jersey schedule for the 2024 season and the team will mostly be wearing its white and royal jerseys, with a dash of Bone. They’ll wear their white “modern throwback” jerseys eight times, seven of which are road games. They’ll go with blue jerseys seven times, all being home contests. They’ll also wear their Bone jerseys in Week 2 and Week 8.

The team is going with a more traditional home and road uniform set this season, primarily wearing white on the road and royal at home. It was similar last season, though they wore their royal uniforms on the road twice in 2023.

Rams’ schedule gives them no rest advantage over their opponents

The Rams’ schedule doesn’t give them any rest advantage over their opponents, but it’s much better than the hand they were dealt in 2023

Aside from having to play two Thursday night games in the second half of the season, the Los Angeles Rams’ 2024 schedule isn’t that bad. They don’t have to play three consecutive road games at any point, nor will they face multiple teams coming off a bye like they did four times last year.

It’s by no means an easy schedule based on the teams they’ll play, but the Rams won’t be severely impacted by travel or rest next season.

Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis ranked every team based on their net rest edges, which calculates the total days of extra rest a team will have over their opponents over the course of an entire season. Last year, the Rams had the second-worst rest edge (-17), but that number is much closer to zero in 2024.

According to Sharp, the Rams only have a minus-1 rest edge next season, tied with the Lions. For comparison, the 49ers have the worst rest edge at minus-21 days, with the Ravens leading the NFL by a mile at plus-16 days. Most teams are within plus-5 and minus-2, so the Rams are around average.

The Rams’ biggest rest disadvantage comes in Week 13 when they face the Saints, who have a Week 12 bye. So New Orleans will not only be at home, but also very well-rested. The Rams will also have extra days of rest after their Thursday night games against the Vikings in Week 8 and 49ers in Week 15. Obviously, they’ll be on a short week when facing each of those opponents, but so will the Vikings and 49ers.

The Rams could’ve been dealt a much worse hand when it comes to rest so they shouldn’t have a lot to complain about with regards to their schedule.

Rams will travel 6th-most miles of any NFL team in 2024

The Rams’ travel schedule is brutal once again, as LA will travel the 6th-most miles of any team in 2024

As a West Coast team, the Los Angeles Rams often get the short end of the stick when it comes to travel. With most of the teams in the NFL located in the Central and Eastern time zones, the Rams make multiple cross-country flights each year.

Next season won’t be any different.

According to Bill Speros of Bookies.com, the Rams will travel the sixth-most miles of any team in the NFL in 2024. They’ll travel 24,263 miles across 26 time zones next season, with an average trip of 3,032.87 miles roundtrip.

Their longest trip is to Foxborough in Week 11 for a game against the Patriots, which is 5,179 miles roundtrip. The Rams’ Week 16 road game against the Jets isn’t far behind, spanning 4,899 miles roundtrip.

What’s working in the Rams’ favor is that they don’t have three consecutive road games at any point in the season, with just two instances where they’ll play two straight games away from home: Weeks 1 and 2 at Detroit and Arizona, and Weeks 15 and 16 at San Francisco and the Jets.

The Rams had the fourth-most travel miles in the NFL last season but they were 16th in that category in 2022. In 2021, they also traveled the fourth-most miles of any team.

Rams’ schedule features two tough stretches that could decide their playoff fate

If the Rams can get through 2 tough stretches on their schedule, they should be a playoff team

When the NFL schedule is released, players and coaches look at a few things that probably catch fans’ eyes right away, too. Things like where the bye week is situated, how many prime-time games there are, how many short weeks they’ll have to play.

But after the initial wave of the schedule drop, we begin to see other elements that can’t be ignored – like the tough stretches that could decide a team’s season. For the Los Angeles Rams, there are two of those: one early in the year and one later on. In the middle, there’s a gettable portion of the schedule that should yield wins.

Weeks 1-3
at Lions (SNF)
at Cardinals
vs. 49ers

The first difficult stretch comes right at the beginning of the season in Weeks 1-3. The Rams open the year with back-to-back road games against the Lions and Cardinals. Admittedly, Arizona is one of the easier opponents on the Rams’ slate, but they also have a healthy Kyler Murray and he now has Marvin Harrison Jr., the first wideout drafted this year. James Conner is still there, as is Marquise Brown and Trey McBride. They could be a handful.

After what’s likely to be a slugfest against the Lions, the Rams will face those Cardinals and then finally return home in Week 3 where they’ll host the rival 49ers. If you’ve ever seen a Rams-49ers game at SoFi Stadium, you know there won’t be much of a home-field advantage for LA.

If the Rams can just get out of that opening three-game stretch at 2-1, that should be viewed as a win. While 0-3 is unlikely, it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility. After all, the Rams are underdogs to the Lions and 49ers as of now, and only 2.5-point favorites over the Cardinals.

Weeks 12-15
vs. Eagles (SNF)
at Saints
vs. Bills
at 49ers (TNF)
at Jets

The second tough stretch comes later in the season from Weeks 12-15, a five-game span that includes two prime-time games, including a Thursday night showdown with those same 49ers again.

Things begin with the Eagles on Sunday Night Football in Week 12, followed by a road game against the Saints; the Superdome is always a brutal place to play for the road team. Then the Rams return home to face the Bills before hitting the road to face the 49ers in a Thursday night game. Only having three days to rest up and recover after facing the Bills will surely be a test.

After taking on the 49ers, the Rams will then have a road game against the Jets across the country, a 1 p.m. ET kickoff which West Coast teams typically hate. Assuming Aaron Rodgers is healthy at that point in the season, the Jets will be a hard team to beat.

Going 3-2 in these five games would be just fine but even that’s not guaranteed. The Eagles, Bills, 49ers and Jets all have better Super Bowl odds than the Rams, according to sportsbooks, so they’re viewed as better teams than Los Angeles.

The Rams have some easier games in the middle of their schedule against the likes of the Bears, Raiders, Vikings and maybe even the Seahawks. However, those stretches in Weeks 1-3 and 12-15 could decide their playoff fate because those are eight important games with no real let-ups.

Here’s a look at the Rams’ 2024 preseason schedule

The Rams’ preseason schedule has been set, including an early afternoon game and a matchup with the Cowboys

Along with the full regular-season schedule, the NFL released the dates, times and opponents for the Los Angeles Rams’ three preseason games in August. It features some familiar foes, with the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans on the docket for the preseason.

They’ll play one game on Sunday and the two others on Saturday, with no kickoff later than 4:05 p.m. PT. Typically, the Rams play at least one game at 7 p.m. PT, so the kickoffs are earlier this time around.

Here’s a look at the team’s preseason slate.

  • Sunday, Aug. 11: vs. Dallas Cowboys (1:25 p.m. PT)
  • Saturday, Aug. 17: at Los Angeles Chargers (4:05 p.m. PT)
  • Saturday, Aug. 24: at Houston Texans (10 a.m. PT)

The Rams have faced all three of these teams in the preseason, including three straight years of playing against the Chargers. They also played the Texans in 2022 and the Cowboys in 2019.

Because the Rams have nine home games and eight road games in the regular season, they’ll only get one home game in the preseason and two on the road.

Watch: Sean McVay shows off his insane memory by breezing through Rams schedule trivia

Sean McVay absolutely dominated this Rams schedule trivia, remembering a play call from 2021 and Puka Nacua’s first career catch

Sean McVay forgets nothing. He’s like a savant when it comes to football, whether it’s play calls from five years ago or a player’s specific stat line.

He’s known for having ridiculously good recall and he’s shown it off before, but his performance in this schedule trivia video shared by the Rams is mind-blowing. He was quizzed on facts about each of the Rams’ 14 opponents in the upcoming season and he passed with flying colors.

A first-and-goal play call from three years ago? He knows it. The Packers’ top three all-time leading receivers? Easy peasy. The quarterback Aaron Donald brought down for his 100th career sack? Check. The exact play call on Puka Nacua’s first career reception? Not even a second of hesitation from McVay.

He went 14-for-14, getting every single question correct. How does he do it?

“I have no life, really.”
