Rams Week 3 report card: Grading every position vs. Cardinals

The Rams got much better play from Matthew Stafford, Cam Akers and others in Week 3

The Rams took care of the Cardinals on Sunday to earn their second win of the season and their 11th victory in 12 tries against Arizona since 2017. Los Angeles is getting progressively better as the season progresses, even though there are still plenty of spots where the team can improve.

We handed out grades for every position group on the team in Week 3, and overall, the report card is much more positive than it was the previous two weeks.

Rams Week 2 report card: Grading every position vs. Falcons

The Rams rebounded from a Week 1 loss by beating the Falcons on Sunday, but how did each position group grade out?

There was at least minor concern in Los Angeles after the Rams got crushed by the Buffalo Bills in the opener. Some were asking if the Rams could be as good as they were last year.

It’s still too early to tell, but the Rams looked more like the team everyone expected them to be during their 31-27 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Matthew Stafford improved, the offensive line got much better and the running game came alive.

We graded every position on the team, with most groups improving from Week 1.

Final Rams report card: Grading every position from the 2020 season

The Rams hit some bumps in the road, but they still put together a strong 2020 season at a number of spots.

After missing the postseason in 2019, the Rams bounced back by returning to the playoffs this season thanks to a 10-6 record and the No. 1-ranked defense in the NFL. Though they ultimately came up short by losing to the Packers in the divisional round, there were still a lot of positives to take away from their season.

Individual performances from the likes of Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey and Leonard Floyd stood out defensively, while the offensive line improved after a difficult 2019 campaign.

Looking back on the season as a whole, the Rams got quality play out of most position groups on the roster. Quarterback weighed them down, though, finishing as arguably the weakest spot on the roster.

Here’s how we graded each position group for Los Angeles this season, our final report card of the year.

Rams Week 17 report card: Grading every position vs. Cardinals

The offense struggled, but L.A.’s defense picked up the slack and provided points of its own.

The box score doesn’t tell the whole story of how the Rams played on Sunday against the Cardinals, but it does give an indication of which side of the ball played better. Very clearly, the defense shined by allowing only seven points and scoring nine points of its own, while the offense had its struggles, particularly in the red zone.

Breaking it down further, we graded each position group on the Rams from Week 17, beginning with the quarterback spot and John Wolford. Here’s our Week 17 report card.

Rams Week 14 report card: Grading every position vs. Patriots

The Rams graded out well against the Patriots in their 24-3 win.

The Rams knocked off the Patriots in dominant fashion on Thursday night, crushing New England 24-3 at home. The defense held the Patriots to their worst offensive performance ever under Bill Belichick, based on one advanced metric, completely stymying Cam Newton.

L.A.’s offense didn’t put together its best game, but Cam Akers helped carry the load with 171 yards rushing. It’s just the 11th time since 2010 that the Rams won a game with more rushing yards than passing, which is an indication of how this contest went.

Here’s how we graded every position group from the Rams’ Week 14 win as they enter the final three weeks.

Rams Week 11 report card: Grading every position vs. Buccaneers

How did the Rams perform against the Buccaneers on Monday night.

The Rams didn’t play their best game of the season against the Buccaneers, but they were unquestionably the better team and still played well enough to win. They left Tampa Bay with a 27-24 win and a 7-3 record, standing at the top of the NFC West through Week 11.

The offense was productive against a quality defense, while the defense of the Rams helped keep one of the best receiver groups in check for 60 minutes.

Here’s how we graded out each position group from the game, beginning with the quarterback spot.
