Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos meet in an AFC West Week 1 battle Sunday. Kickoff from Empower Field at Mile High is set for 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Raiders vs. Broncos, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Raiders are coming into the 2023 season with a change at QB after Jimmy Garappolo signed with the team in free agency. With the rest of their key pieces staying the same fans are hopeful that Garoppolo will take the team to places that QB Derek Carr could not.

After a disappointing 5-12 record in 2022 Broncos fans are praying that new Coach Sean Payton can take this team to the places they thought they’d go after trading for QB Russell Wilson before the 2022 season. The preseason was full of injuries for Denver, particularly in the WR room as the Broncos are expected to be down 2 of their top 4 WRs vs. Las Vegas.

Las Vegas was 3-3 straight up and 4-2 against the spread (ATS) in division games last year, the Under was 4-2 in such games.

Denver went 1-5 overall and 3-3 ATS vs. divisional opponents last season, with the Over being 4-2 in such games.

Raiders at Broncos picks and predictions

Prediction

Raiders 21, Broncos 17

Moneyline

LEAN RAIDERS (+145).

I am not super worried about the transition to Garoppolo at QB for the Raiders as I believe he is a very slight step-up from Carr, and I expect the team to adjust just fine with him under center. RB Josh Jacobs and WR Davante Adams are lethal weapons that he will have at his disposal and I expect them to give this Broncos defense some trouble.

This only a lean because Mile High Stadium is a very tough place to play and I do believe Payton will greatly help this Broncos team.

Against the spread

BET RAIDERS +3 (+100).

The Broncos struggled in divisional games last year and while some of that will be alleviated under Payton, they still have a lot of problems. I expect the Raiders pass rush led by LB Maxx Crosby to cause troubles for Wilson and this below-average Broncos offensive line. The Broncos simply don’t have the arsenal to blow out this Raiders team and I expect the Raiders to cover here, even in a loss.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 43 (-110).

The Raiders do have some offensive weapons, but I don’t believe Garoppolo is a good enough QB to propel this game to hit the Over, especially when I expect the Broncos to have trouble generating touchdowns. I do believe CB Patrick Surtain II will slow down Adams, and that will hurt the Raiders’ chances of generating a lot of offense in the passing game. The Raiders’ secondary is questionable, but I don’t believe the Broncos have the personnel to expose that weakness in this game.

Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Las Vegas Raiders at Denver Broncos odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Las Vegas Raiders (3-2) visit the Denver Broncos (3-2) on Sunday in a matchup of AFC West foes. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET in Empower Field at Mile High in Denver. Below, we look at the Raiders vs. Broncos odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

To say the least, it’s been a tumultuous week for the Raiders who suffered their second straight loss Sunday in falling to the visiting Chicago Bears, 20-9. Then a day later saw the sudden resignation of head coach Jon Gruden following the public revelation of a trove of offensive emails.

The Silver and Black will now try to regroup in a key division road game Sunday under interim head coach/longtime special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia with their 3-0 start a distant memory.

The Broncos, meanwhile, also have stumbled through two straight losses after a 3-0 start. Denver breezed through perhaps the league’s easiest opening three-game slate but has since had breakdowns in several key phases while losing to the Baltimore Ravens (23-7) and Pittsburgh Steelers (27-19).

The Denver defense has shown a few leaks the last two weeks but still ranks as the league’s second-stingiest scoring unit, permitting only 15.2 points per game.

Raiders at Broncos odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Broncos 20, Raiders 16

Money line

We’re still a few weeks from the midpoint of the season, but this is a key early-season divisional clash for two teams seeking to stay above .500.

Given the disruption in Vegas and with the home-standing Denver defense being the best of the four units on the field, go with the BRONCOS (-210) here with the spread creeping too high.

Against the spread

It would be a slight lean toward the Raiders with the number now north of four, but with the Broncos likely to win, the margin is too thin. It’s a PASS.

Over/Under

The Raiders’ defense has improved, and with that, three of Vegas’ five games this season have gone Under the total.

The Over, meanwhile, has hit only once in the Broncos’ five contests. In the series, eight of the last nine meetings haven’t reached the total, so it’s a play on the UNDER 43.5 (-108) here.

  • Las Vegas has actually been better on the road than at home this year, going 5-2 away from Allegiant Stadium.

Raiders at Broncos: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raiders 27, Broncos 20

Money line (?)

The Raiders may have blown their shot at the playoffs, but they’re still a much better team than the Broncos, who are depleted on defense. Las Vegas boasts an explosive offense with playmakers such as TE Darren Waller and WR Nelson Agholor, who will be tough for the Broncos to contain.

I like the RAIDERS (-145) to win outright, especially with the reasonable money line price. There’s still plenty of reward with this wager because Vegas isn’t an overwhelming favorite.

Against the spread (?)

The spread is somewhat surprisingly low, coming in at only 2.5 points. The Raiders are above .500 against the spread this season at 8-7 and have covered against the Broncos in eight of their last 10 meetings.

This is a game Las Vegas should win fairly easily. I’m taking the RAIDERS -2.5 (-115) Sunday as they look to cap off a disappointing season with a victory.

Over/Under (?)

The Broncos have one of the worst offenses in the NFL, ranking 29th in scoring. The Raiders defense isn’t anything impressive, but it will do enough to limit Denver’s offense.

Given the recent trends with the Under coming in most often for these two, that’s the way I’m leaning. Take the UNDER 50.5 (-105).
