Former UGA CB Deandre Baker put on Commissioner’s Exempt List

Former Georgia football CB Deandre Baker has been put on the NFL Commissioner’s Exempt List following multiple charges.

Former star Georgia cornerback Deandre Baker has been placed on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s Commissioner’s Exempt List this Monday.

The former Jim Thorpe Award winner was drafted 30th overall by the New York Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft, but was charged with four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm in May of 2020.

While at a house party, Baker was charged with robbing victims of their money and watches while threatening them with a firearm.  Also involved in the incident was Seattle Seahawks cornerback and former Florida Gator Quinton Dunbar, who was also placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

If Baker is convicted, he will face a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. Florida carries a strict 10-20-life law that states if any person is convicted of 18 certain crimes involving the use of a firearm, including aggravated assault and robbery, they will face a minimum of 10 years in prison.

The Miramar Police Department’s application for an arrest warrant stated that Baker instructed a third party member to shoot one of the partygoers. This thankfully did not happen because Baker would be facing life in prison if it did.

The Giants’ cornerback was already not going to be with the team, dealing with his legal issues, but now the team can most likely get their money back due to Baker being placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

It has been sad to say the least hearing the news of this incident involving Baker unravel.  We will continue to provide the latest details on Baker’s situation as they are available.
