A closer look at Quinten Post’s game

The Golden State Warriors have released a video breakdown of Quinten Post’s game.

The Golden State Warriors selected Quinten Post with the 52nd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The versatile big man can play both the power forward and center position. At 7-foot tall, Post adds genuine size to Steve Kerr’s roster. If he can find a way to crack the rotation, his presence will go a long way to solving a legitimate issue within the Warriors’ team construction.

Post spent time playing for both Mississippi State and Boston College before entering the draft. However, most Warriors fans are likely wondering what the big man brings to the table. As such, Golden State’s social media team has released a video breakdown of Post’s skillset.

The video shows all the different aspects of Post’s game, along with some highlights from his collegiate career. It also heavily features Post talking through his skillset and how it can translate to the NBA.

Did the Warriors uncover another gem in Quinten Post?

Will Quinten Post make an impact for the Golden State Warriors this season?

The Golden State Warriors drafted Quinten Post with the 52nd pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. The Boston College product is expected to provide floor spacing from the center position if he can crack Steve Kerr’s rotation and be the latest second-rounder that immediately makes an impact on Golden State’s roster.

The Warriors had originally traded the 52nd pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder, but re-acquired the selection for draft considerations before selecting Post. Golden State is now hard-capped at the second tax apron for the upcoming season. However, Joe Lacob has previously made it clear that he wants the Warriors to duck under the luxury tax.

In a recent video by “Warriors Digest,” the host breaks down Golden State’s decision to trade away and re-acquire the 52nd pick before diving into how Post could fit into Kerr’s offensive and defensive system.

Report: Warriors re-acquire 2024 No. 52 pick, draft Boston College C Quinten Post

After re-acquiring their pick in the second round, the Warriors used the No. 52 overall selection to draft Boston College big man Quinten Post.

After trading out of the second round of the 2024 draft, draft day looked to be over for the Golden State Warriors without a pick. However, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Steve Kerr were able to find a way back into the second round on Thursday.

Following a trade that saw the No. 52 overall pick head to the Oklahoma City Thunder for wing Lindy Waters III, the Warriors were later able to reacquire their own pick in the second round. According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors traded cash considerations to reacquire their pick in the second round, which was traded from the Thunder to the Portland Trail Blazers.

With the No. 52 overall selection in the 2024 draft, the Warriors drafted Boston College center Quinten Post.

Via @anthonyVslater on Twitter:

Post, from Amsterdam, Netherlands, spent the first two seasons of his college career in the SEC at Mississippi State. After two seasons, Post transferred to Boston College, playing his last three seasons with the Golden Eagles.

Boston College’s Quinten Post had predraft workout with Thunder

Boston College’s Quinten Post had predraft workout with Thunder.

The calendar has flipped to June, which means NBA teams are intensifying their predraft process and hosting players for workouts and visits. The 2024 NBA draft will take place from June 26-27.

The Oklahoma City Thunder enter this year’s class with a sole draft pick of the No. 12 selection. OKC was gifted the free lottery pick via the Houston Rockets.

The Thunder will host several meetings with draft prospects in the coming weeks. This includes players outside the lottery range as OKC will likely seek to add undrafted free agents or even buy back into the second round if it likes someone enough.

One possibility is Boston College’s Quinten Post. It was posted on social media he met with the Thunder for a predraft workout.

The 24-year-old played in five college seasons from 2019-24. He spent his first two years at Mississippi State before transferring to Boston College for his final three campaigns.

In 35 games last season, Post averaged 17 points on 51.4% shooting, 8.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.7 blocks. He shot 43.1% from 3 on 3.3 attempts. At 7-foot, 235 pounds, he has good size for a center.

Post is a potential undrafted free agent target. He has a shot to join the Thunder’s summer league squad and possibly be added to the G League’s OKC Blue for next season if he impresses enough.

A full list of 2024 NBA draft prospects that have worked out or visited the Thunder in the predraft process can be viewed here.

Notre Dame drops another close contest to Boston College

The Irish still can’t win a close game with the Eagles.

When Notre Dame lost a close road contest to Boston College over a week-and-a-half ago, much of it had to do with Quinten Post getting hot. When the teams met again Saturday in South Bend, Post scored 10 points before fouling out with 4:03 left.

Despite losing Post for the stretch run, the Eagles had their biggest lead at seven, and it proved to be just enough to deal the Irish a 61-58 loss. Devin McGlockton led the Eagles with 15 points.

Neither team shot the ball well in the first half, but when points started coming more frequently in the second half, the Irish (7-13, 2-7) simply didn’t score enough. Although they only trailed, 57-55, in the final minute, Jaeden Zackery made a close shot with 30 seconds left to put the Eagles (12-8, 3-6) up four. [autotag]Braeden Shrewsberry[/autotag] missed a 3, and Zackery got the rebound before being fouled by [autotag]J.R. Konieczny[/autotag] and making two free throws.

Surprisingly, that didn’t end the game. A Shrewsberry 3 cut the Eagles’ six-point lead in half with barely any time remaining. The Eagles then couldn’t inbound the ball cleanly, and a replay review gave the Irish a chance to send the game to overtime with 0.8 seconds left. [autotag]Kebba Njie[/autotag] got an open look from 3-point range at the very top of the key, but he missed at the buzzer.

Konieczny flirted with a double-double by virtue of 15 points (13 in the first half) and eight rebounds. Shrewsberry scored all of his 14 points in the second half with 12 of them coming on four 3-pointers. [autotag]Markus Burton[/autotag] had 10 points (eight in the second half) and a game-high seven assists, but he also committed a game-high five turnovers.

Notre Dame drops tough one at Boston College before weeklong break

They’ll win games like this down the road, but not this year.

Before taking a week off from games, Notre Dame had to play twice in three days. [autotag]Micah Shrewsberry[/autotag] lamented this schedule quirk after the loss to Florida State, but the Irish had no choice but to travel to Boston College. It almost was worth the trip as the Irish stayed in it throughout a 63-59 loss.

The Irish (7-11, 2-5) led the majority of the game and were up by as much as 12 in the first half. They were up by six with over five minute left when Quinten Post scored eight unanswered points to put the Eagles (11-6, 2-4) up two. After [autotag]J.R. Konieczny[/autotag] hit free throws to tie it at 57 with 3:10 left, neither team scored for the next 2:20.

Post hit a 3 with 50 seconds remaining to put the Eagles back up. Konieczny was whistled for an offensive foul, which was followed by Claudell Harris Jr. splitting free throws. [autotag]Markus Burton[/autotag] was fouled on a layup that made it 61-59, and he missed the ensuring free throw, but the Irish got the rebound and called a timeout with 11.7 seconds left to draw a play that could tie or win the game.

[autotag]Carey Booth[/autotag] quickly found an open corner 3 that missed, and Chas Kelley III got the rebound, which led to him icing the game with two free throws. So close, and yet, so far.

Jaeden Zackery led all scorers with 20 points, but it was Post who stole the show for the Eagles with 15 of his 17 points in the second half, including three 3-pointers.

Burton led the Irish with 19 points but committed seven second-half turnovers. In all, the Eagles scored 22 points off 19 Irish turnovers. That negated Burton’s scoring performance along with that of reigning ACC Rookie of the Week [autotag]Braeden Shrewsberry[/autotag] (12 points).
