Falcons to sign defensive lineman Prince Emili, per report

The #Falcons are expected to sign UFL defensive lineman Prince Emili, per report

The Atlanta Falcons are expected to sign UFL defensive tackle Prince Emili, according to a report from KPRC Houston’s Aaron Wilson.

Emili, 25, just reached the UFL championship game as a member of the San Antonio Brahmas. While the Brahmas were defeated 25-0 by the Birmingham Stallions on Sunday, Emili had a stellar season.

“Emili was a key piece to a stout San Antonio pass rush, one that led the league in sacks in the regular season,” wrote James Larsen of PFNewsroom.com. “Prince posted 21 tackles, two TFL’s, and three sacks this year for the Brahmas.”

In 2022, Emili appeared in two games for the Buffalo Bills, recording three combined tackles and one pass defended. After taking his talents to the UFL, the 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle now has another chance to make an NFL roster.

The Falcons have already added several interior defenders to their 90-man roster this offseason, but Emili is a talented young player who deserves a shot in the NFL.

Saints waive backup DT Prince Emili, who returned from 2022 practice squad

Report: Saints waive backup defensive tackle Prince Emili, who returned from their 2022 practice squad to compete for a roster spot

The New Orleans Saints are continuing to whittle down their roster ahead of Tuesday’s cuts deadline, this time parting ways with backup defensive tackle Prince Emili. Emili returned to New Orleans after joining their practice squad in 2022 and had some nice moments over the summer, but improved depth pushed him off the depth chart. NewOrleans.Football’s Mike Triplett first reported news of his release.

Emili initially signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent last year (out of Penn), though he wound up on the Saints practice squad by midseason and even got into a few games late in the year. He was brought back to compete for a roster spot in 2023 but the Saints made too many additions to the top of the depth chart to keep a spot open for him.

With Malcolm Roach developing into a better option as the fourth defensive tackle behind Khalen Saunders, Nathan Shepherd, and Bryan Bresee it made more sense to waive Emili and possibly bring him back to the practice squad again. We’ll see if he gets a call back later this week.

Browns host 10 players for workouts on Friday including Kenny Stills

The Browns hosted 10 free agents for tryouts today, including veteran wide receiver Kenny Stills

We found out earlier this morning the Cleveland Browns were hosting former Buffalo Bills’ defensive tackle Prince Emili. However, it turns out the Browns actually hosted 10 players today, and one of them was veteran wide receiver Kenny Stills.

All-in-all, the Browns hosted a quarterback, an offensive tackle, three defensive tackles, two running backs, and three wide receivers. The three defensive tackles are the clear emphasis here, especially after the Cleveland defensive interior was torn to shreds against the Atlanta Falcons.

We take a look here at each of the ten players and give a bit of background on each of them.

Browns bring in DT Prince Emili for workout on Friday

The Browns are working out a defensive tackle after last week’s interior meltdown

Even with the Los Angeles Chargers quickly approaching, the work has not stopped in the front office in Berea. The Cleveland Browns are working out a rookie defensive tackle today in hopes of improving their interior. Cut from the Buffalo Bills this week, undrafted rookie out of Penn Prince Emili will be in Cleveland today.

While he is a bit undersized at just 6-0 and 295 pounds, Emili has a good deal of length and athleticism at his size. With 33 inch arms, Emili was able to bench press 225 for 28 reps at his pro day, and leapt to a massive 36.5 inch vertical jump. His short shuttle and 10 yard split indicate he is an explosive and twitchy athlete as well.

Emili was called up by the Buffalo Bills from their practice squad for their matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. And all things considered, he played quite well, making his release from their practice squad even more staggering.

He has appeared in two games for the Bills this season, but played 20 snaps this past Sunday. On the day, he tallied up three tackles and a pass deflection from his defensive tackle post. He graded out quite well according to PFF in this one.

With Jordan Elliott and Tommy Togiai grading out as two of the worst defensive tackles in the NFL, the Browns have been forced to adjust. Hopefully the moves inside do not stop with Emili.

Bills add DT to practice squad amid Ed Oliver concern

#Bills add DT to practice squad amid Ed Oliver concerns:

The Buffalo Bills made a practice squad move worth monitoring.

On Wednesday, the team announced that defensive tackle Prince Emili was signed to the taxi unit. In corresponding move, wide receiver Tanner Gentry was released from the practice squad.

Emili’s signing sparks some interest because starting DT Ed Oliver suffered an ankle injury against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1. The issue was not deemed serious at first, but Oliver exited the game twice because of it.

Oliver was limited to 18 total snaps against the Rams.

On Wednesday, Oliver also did not practice.

Emili spent the preseason in Buffalo before he was cut by the team at the end of training camp.

If Oliver can’t go, the likes of Jordan Phillips and Tim Settle might see more playing time in the middle of the Buffalo’s D-line next to DaQuan Jones. Emili would serve as a depth option.

Check back at Bills Wire throughout the week as we will provide updates to Oliver’s health as information is made available.
