A Kentucky football commit has been contacted by Ohio State

Kentucky football commit Preston Bowman was contacted by the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Coach Mark Stoops and Kentucky football has landed a number of three and four star recruits in recent weeks, including wide receiver Preston Bowman. However, in today’s college football, commitments can be changed, and the Ohio State Buckeyes tried to do just that with Bowman.

Over the weekend, Bowman committed to the Wildcats. The three star receiver was originally offered back in 2022, and then visited Kentucky on June 19th. He announced his intention to play in Lexington on the 22nd. Just a day later, he heard from the Buckeyes.

Bowman chose Kentucky over Michigan and Louisville, but Ohio State jumped into his recruitment after he committed to the Cats. The Buckeyes have developed a lot of top receivers, and have a talented class once again.

For now, Bowman says he is still committed to the Wildcats. They definitely want to keep him, but Ohio State is also certain to make their case as well. Fans will have to wait and see how it plays out.

It seems like Ohio State football’s depth chart is scaring away more than a few of its top 2025 targets, especially at wide receiver.

The Buckeyes do have commits from Quincy Porter, De’Zie Jones and Bodpegn Miller, but the coaching staff was looking to add one or two more elite players to join them. It currently doesn’t look like that will be the case as on Sunday they offered in-state receiver [autotag]Preston Bowman[/autotag], who is currently committed to Kentucky.

The Pickerington North product stands 6-feet and weighs 190-pounds, and is ranked as the country’s No. 1242 player and 179th wide receiver according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Although his recruiting ranking may not be very high at all, if Ohio State makes an offer, especially at receiver, you know it’s going after a very good player. It remains to be seen how much of an impact the scholarship will have on Bowman.

This report from 247Sports Allan Trieu makes it seem like he’s firm with the Wildcats, but an Ohio State offer is typically a game-changer.

Kentucky football picks up a commitment from 2025 receiver Preston Bowman.

The recruiting wins are coming fast and furious for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football team, who added cornerback Demarcus Gardner on Saturday. On the same day, they’ve also landed another receiver from the 2025 class in Preston Bowman.

Bowman is rated three stars by 247sports. He’s 6’0″, 190 lbs and comes from the state of Ohio. He’s ranked as the 138th receiver in the 2025 class, and is a top 50 player from the state.

The Michigan Wolverines recently offered Bowman a scholarship, and he visited Louisville, but ultimately chose the Wildcats, telling Kentucky Sports Radio:

They’re on the rise. They’ve been doing really well these past couple of years. They still have some improvements to make, but they’re definitely on the rise. I want to be a part of it.

Kentucky also recently received a commitment from Ja’kayden Ferguson, another three-star recevier. The Wildcats have a very good receiver group for 2024, and now, are building toward the future at the position as well.
