President Donald Trump to attend Week 7 game, Steelers make statement

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a statement on President Donald Trump and his Secret Servicd attending their Week 7 contest.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have issued a statement on social media regarding President Donald Trump attending the Week 7 Sunday Night Football game.

The Pittsburgh Steelers stated that the team is working with the Secret Service and local authorities in order to provide fans with a safe experience on Sunday.  While the team states the goal is for the fan experience to remain as identical as previous weeks, they recommend fans arrive the stadium earlier.

The team statement concludes that the games focus remains on celebrating the 50th anniversary of Super Bowl IX, which marked the start of Pittsburgh’s journey to six-Lombardi trophies.

Super Bowl IX holds a special place in the hearts of Steelers fans around the world, and the team will also be wearing throwback jerseys to commemorate the occasion. Tune in on October 20th at 8:20 PM EST to see the 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers take on the 2-4 New York Jets on Sunday Night Football.

AL.com spoke to Ric Mayers, the Alabama businessman who invited Trump to attend the game.

Mayers said he loves a steak but the former President’s food request is much simpler.

Trump requested two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches with cheese from McDonald’s, stadium hotdogs, Domino’s pizza and Diet Coke, Mayers said. Trump has previously requested McDonald’s while visiting Alabama, state GOP officials said.

But it appears that we’ve seen at least two players do something that resembles what we saw over a week ago when there was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

As you’ll recall, a bloodied Trump got up up and put up a fist while appearing to say, “Fight, fight.”

Recently, we saw Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls put up a fist and mime “fight, fight,” while members of the St. Louis Cardinals held their ears and pump their fists.

It sure looks like it’s a Trump imitation:

Did Donald Trump beat a pair of pro golfers? One Congressional candidate said he did

According to a former White House aide: “Trump put to shame two professional golfers.”

Former President Donald Trump enjoys spending time on the golf course, and he had long hoped to host a major tournament at one of the courses his organization owns. The 2022 PGA Championship was originally scheduled at his course in Bedminster, but the PGA of America took that away after his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump still plays consistently and he has long been proud of his game.

But does the 77-year-old presidential candidate have the kind of game that can hold off touring pros? According to a former White House aide who is running for Congress, that’s exactly what happened during a recent outing.

At a rally in Rome, Georgia, candidate Brian Jack insisted that Trump did just that.

“I’m not sure if I should say this,” said Jack. “But just a few weeks ago, President Trump put to shame two professional golfers. I ain’t gonna mention their names, but just know he shot a 70 on 18 holes.”

According to a post at Mediaite.com, no course was mentioned in Jack’s speech, but this score would be in line with previous numbers Trump has insisted he’s produced.

Jack did not cite the course where this alleged 70 was shot. But if it was the notoriously difficult Trump-owned Bedminster, NJ layout, then Trump might have actually had an off day. Back in August, the former president claimed to have shot a 67 on that track. Two weeks earlier, a the same course hosted a tournament for Saudi-backed LIV golf. Trump’s claimed 67 would have beaten 47 of the 48 pros in the final round.

The aspiring congressman did not share any specifics — including whether Trump took any mulligans or played from the same tees as the pros. If Trump got any significant edges like that, then the pros certainly would not have felt as though they’d been “put to shame” — even if Trump shot a lower score. But the idea of Trump, at age 77, outplaying two current pros without receiving any type of advantage?

In 2023, Trump announced the victory via social media.

“I am pleased to report, for those that care, that I just won the Senior Club Championship (must be over 50 years old!) at Bedminster (Trump National Golf Club), shooting a round of 67,” the Palm Beach resident posted. “Now, some people will think that sounds low, but there is no hanky/lanky. Many people watch, plus I am surrounded by Secret Service Agents. Not much you can do even if you wanted to, and I don’t.”

Trump concluded his post: “For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete – I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!”

Charles Barkley says he’ll ‘punch’ any Black person wearing a Donald Trump mug shot shirt

“If I see a Black person walking around with a Trump mug shot, I’m gonna punch him in the face.”

It’s no secret that Charles Barkley isn’t a fan of Donald Trump or his supporters — he’s been extremely outspoken about all of that before the former was elected president.

On his CNN show with Gayle King earlier this week, Barkley had more to say in response to Trump saying “the Black population” is walking around with shirts showing Trump’s mug shot.

When King asked how Barkley felt about that, the Hall of Famer took a deep breath and responded: “First of all, I’m just gonna say this: if I see a Black person walking around with a Trump mug shot, I’m gonna punch him in the face.”

King replied, “You really can’t say that, because you don’t mean that.”

But we know Barkley, and he’s not kidding, which is what he said in response. And remember, he’s the same guy who said he’d punch Aaron Rodgers in the face if he was Jimmy Kimmel.

Donald Trump claims he won another club championship: ‘For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete’

Trump claims he shot a 67, but did not say if that was in a practice round or even what day he recorded that score.

Donald Trump has made another claim and this time he didn’t have to beg for his total to be changed.

The former president posted on Truth Social that he won the Senior Club Championship at his club in Bedminster, N.J. Trump, who apparently was able to dig out his golf shirts that were mixed among the classified documents stored at Mar-a-Lago, claims he shot a 67, but did not say if that was in a practice round or even what day he recorded that score.

The question is which number is larger: Trump’s club championships or the 91 felony counts he faces in four jurisdictions.

]In January, Trump announced he won the Senior Club Championship at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, despite not playing the first round of the tournament.

Members arrived the second day surprised to see Trump with a five-point lead using the Modified Stableford method. But Trump never played the first round as he was attending a funeral in North Carolina.

Trump told tournament organizers he played a strong round on the course Thursday, two days before the tournament started, and decided that would count as his Saturday score for the club championship. That score was five points better than any competitor posted during Saturday’s first round.

Trump’s latest claim comes two days after he became the first former president with a mug shot. He was booked in Fulton County stemming from his attempt to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results by asking Georgia’s secretary of state to “find” 11,780 votes.

Trump had good reason to vehemently defend himself against “hanky/lanky” and insist “people watch.” Not only was he the subject of a 2019 book by sportswriter Rick Reilly: “Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump;” a video of Trump shanking a pitch shot at his club in Los Angeles went viral in June.

LIV Golf will hold three events on Trump properties this year, including Bedminster, which was played this month. Of the 144 rounds played at Bedminster by LIV golfers, six shot 67 or lower.

Trump typically plays in the pro-am leading up to LIV events he hosts, including the tournament at Doral. In October, after playing nine holes with Jupiter’s Brooks Koepka, Trump praised his game … Trump’s, not Koepka’s.

“I hit it straight, I hit good drives, I hit good irons,” he said.

Tough scene.

Everyone who has played golf has hit a shank. Even the best players in the world are not immune to hitting a horrific shot here or there.

Well, the former President of the United States, even with his golfing prowess, is also bound to a case of the shanks.

No President has played golf as much as Donald Trump or been as invested in the sport. Before, during and after his time in office, Trump has spent plenty of time on the links. For 77, he still plays plenty and can hit the ball well. But his swing has gone viral for all of the wrong reasons recently.

Trump hit a vicious shank in a recent outing, and it was all caught on video.

The video was shared Monday via Instagram and went viral Thursday night. Trump’s outing was at Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles.

Report: U.S. Department of Justice investigating former President Donald Trump’s ties to LIV Golf amid larger probe

Three Trump properties will host the Saudi-backed circuit in 2023.

The United States Department of Justice is ramping up its investigation into how former President Donald Trump has handled classified documents since his time in office ended. But what does that have to do with golf?

According to a New York Times report, amid the larger investigation the DOJ has subpoenaed the Trump Organization for records regarding LIV Golf and President Trump’s ties to the upstart circuit financially backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

In LIV Golf’s inaugural season last year, Trump National Bedminster and Trump National Doral both hosted events. The pair of properties will do so again in 2023, as will his resort in Potomac Falls, Virginia, outside of Washington, D.C.

It is unclear what bearing Mr. Trump’s relationship with LIV Golf has on the broader investigation, but it suggests that the prosecutors are examining certain elements of Mr. Trump’s family business.

Last year the former president was heavily criticized for hosting LIV Golf just miles from New York City by a group of families of 9/11 victims and survivors.

“I’ve known these people for a long time in Saudi Arabia, they’ve been friends of mine for a long time,” explained Trump ahead of last year’s event at Trump National Bedminster. “They’ve invested in many American companies, they own big percentages of many, many American companies, and frankly what they’re doing for golf is so great.”

A New York City native, Trump’s comments came just days after families of 9/11 victims and survivors sent a letter to condemn the former president for hosting the Saudi-funded series. The letter expressed their “extreme pain, frustration and anger” and even included a quote from Trump’s 2016 comments on the 9/11 terrorist attacks from a segment on Fox & Friends:

“ … Who blew up the World Trade Center? It wasn’t the Iraqis – it was Saudi. Take a look at Saudi Arabia. Open the documents. We ought to get Bush or somebody to have the documents opened because frankly, if you open the documents, I think you are going to see it was Saudi Arabia …”

“The former President correctly speculated in 2016 that Saudi Arabia knocked down the towers and now the FBI has released the documents to prove him right,” Brett Eagleson, an advocate for the 9/11 Justice group, told CNN at the time, “yet he is choosing money over America. So much for America First. A sad day.”

LIV Golf has long been criticized as a way for the Kingdom to “sportswash” its human rights record. Saudi Arabia has been accused of wide-ranging human rights abuses, including politically motivated killings, torture, forced disappearances and inhumane treatment of prisoners. And members of the royal family and Saudi government were accused of involvement in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist and Washington Post columnist.

The DOJ is also reportedly investigating the PGA Tour for potential antitrust violations against LIV Golf.

Trump National Washington D.C. will host LIV Golf later this month, May 26-28. LIV will then head to Trump National Bedminster, Aug. 11-13, and return to Trump National Doral, Oct. 20-22. The LIV Golf season ends in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia, Nov. 3-5.

Patrick Reed’s attorney demands on-air apology from CNN’s Jake Tapper, Bob Costas; threatens $450M lawsuit

The attorney representing Reed is demanding an on-air apology from the duo for a “highly defamatory piece.”

An attorney representing Patrick Reed has added yet another lawsuit to a lengthy list of recent filings against media companies and personalities.

During a segment on CNN last week, studio host Jake Tapper chatted with longtime announcer and reporter Bob Costas about the court battle between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. A letter from Larry Klayman, the attorney representing Reed, is demanding an on-air apology from the duo for what it calls a “highly defamatory piece.”

If not, Klayman’s letter says his group reserves the right “to sue Tapper, Costas and CNN pursuant to Florida Statute 770.01 for damages well in excess of $450,000,000 dollars which includes compensatory, actual, special and punitive damages.”

It should be noted that the piece didn’t include a mention of Reed, who has fallen down to No. 80 on the Official World Golf Ranking since moving to LIV Golf.

In 2022, Klayman filed and then refiled a $750 million defamation lawsuit against Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee, Damon Hack, Shane Bacon, as well as Golfweek columnist Eamon Lynch and its parent company, Gannett, then added a $250 million lawsuit against author Shane Ryan, Hachette Publishing, the New York Post and Fox Sports, as well as Associated Press golf writer Doug Ferguson and the organization for whom he works.

In civil cases, plaintiffs have to prove whether a defendant is liable, not whether a defendant is guilty. The suit was filed by Klayman, a Florida-based attorney who has been on the losing end of a number of defamation lawsuits, including one in which Arizona politician “Sheriff Joe” Arpaio sued several national media outlets, alleging they defamed him and impacted his attempt to win a U.S. Senate seat.

The original suit against Brandel Chamblee and Golf Channel said the group had “conspired as joint tortfeasors for and with the PGA Tour, it’s (sic) executives and it’s Commissioner Jay Monahan, to engage in a pattern and practice of defaming Mr. Reed, misreporting information with falsity and/or reckless disregard for the truth … purposely omitting pertinent key material facts to mislead the public, and actively targeting Mr. Reed since he was 23 years old to destroy his reputation, create hate, and a hostile work environment for him … ”

The new suit takes aim at Tapper and his political commentary, especially in regard to former President Donald Trump, who is tied to a number of golf properties.

At one time, I had known Jake Tapper to a moderately honest journalist and commentator, but after the election of President Donald Trump, he sold his soul to the hierarchy of CNN, then headed by rabid Trump-hater Jeff Zucker. Ever since, CNN and Tapper pliantly have been on a crusade to destroy Trump, which crusade apparently appeals to CNN’s generally leftist viewership, and reaps profit for the network. Interestingly, a person with the last name Zucker is referenced in the subject broadcast.

While Jeff Zucker has since been fired at the CEO of CNN over alleged misconduct with a subordinate at CNN, his legacy as a Trump-hater lives on and Tapper continues his unhinged vicious attacks on not just Trump but anyone and anything associated with him, such as LIV Golf, which simply played two events at the former president’s golfing venues in New Jersey and Florida last year, which LIV Golf payed (sic) for.”
