Four Tigers named to baseball Preseason All-SEC teams by coaches

The Tigers’ roster is absolutely loaded in 2023.

On Thursday, the SEC coaches’ preseason conference poll was released — in which LSU was the overwhelming favorite to win the league — as well as their preseason All-SEC teams.

Four LSU Tigers made the All-SEC teams: a pair of familiar faces, and a pair of new ones. [autotag]Dylan Crews[/autotag], [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag], [autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] and [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] all made the cut.

Crews and White both made the first team with Crews being selected as an outfielder and White being selected as a designated hitter and utility player.

What more do I need to say about Crews that hasn’t already been stated? He is the best player in college baseball, and he should be the No. 1 pick in the 2023 MLB draft. White was the best hitter in the ACC last year and he will hit a lot of dingers this spring for LSU.

Good luck pitching to him.

Paul Skenes and Tre Morgan were selected to the Second Team with Skenes being selected as a pitcher and Morgan being selected as a first baseman.

Skenes was one of the best pitchers in the country during his time at Air Force and his mystique has increased since he arrived at LSU. He is projected as a first-round draft pick in this year’s MLB draft, and he was recently named the Friday night starter for LSU.

Morgan is a man we are all familiar with. He is a wizard with his glove at first base and always seems to come up with a clutch hit when the Tigers need it the most.

LSU forward KJ Williams named to Coaches All-SEC Preseason Second Team

KJ Williams is the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year.

The Tigers have a new-look roster heading into the 2022-23 basketball season, the first under coach [autotag]Matt McMahon[/autotag]. They’ve certainly reloaded the depleted depth with a number of transfers and incoming freshmen recruits, but one enters the year with especially high expectations.

[autotag]KJ Williams[/autotag], a fifth-year transfer from Murray State who followed Matt McMahon to Baton Rouge, was named a member of the Preseason All-SEC Second Team, according to the league coaches. Williams is the reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year and was a two-time First Team All-OVC selection with the Racers.

He joins LSU expected to be one of the top players in the league. Last season, he averaged 18 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. He notched 27 career double-doubles during his four years at Murray State.

The Tigers begin the 2022-23 campaign and McMahon era on Wednesday night when they host Kansas City in the season opener.

Four LSU players named to preseason All-SEC teams

Four Tigers players are represented on the preseason all-conference teams.

Though the Tigers lost the third overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft this offseason in Derek Stingley Jr., they still return a lot of experienced talent. That was apparent when the preseason All-SEC teams were announced on Friday as a number of LSU players occupied the list.

The teams were determined by polling members of the media in attendance at SEC Media Days in Atlanta this week. They were also polled on preseason division standings, in which they had Alabama and Georgia facing off once again in the SEC Championship with the Tigers finishing fifth in the SEC West.

In total, four LSU players grace the preseason All-SEC teams. Here’s a rundown on where each of them landed.

We may be stuck right in the middle of the offseason’s doldrums, but it won’t stay that way for long.

SEC Media Days are right around the corner in just about three weeks with fall camp to come shortly after. Before we know it, the 2022 season will be upon us.

With that in mind, Birmingham News/AL.com released its 76th annual preseason SEC projections, which include division predictions and preseason All-Conference squads. Several LSU players appear among the latter.

As we approach the beginning of the first season of the Brian Kelly era, here’s what the folks at Al.com think about the Tigers.
