Trail Blazers at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 112, Trail Blazers 106

Moneyline

PASS.

The Grizzlies are just a tad too expensive on the moneyline to prefer it over the spread. Back the home team’s spread here.

Against the spread

BET GRIZZLIES -2 (-112).

The Grizzlies had 21 turnovers and shot 59% from the free throw line Friday. Both of those are unlikely to be repeated at home Saturday. Meanwhile, Portland shot 52% from the field.

Memphis is down the bulk of its star players, but it has won 2 of its last 4, which is more than Portland can say. The Grizzlies have covered well and should bounce back Saturday.

The Blazers have lost 5 of their last 6 games by double figures and should return to struggling as they continue their road trip. Back GRIZZLIES -2 (-112).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 208 (-110).

The Blazers have gone Over in 4 of their last 6 games and have allowed at least 121 in 3 of those 6. The Grizzlies have gone Over in 2 straight and are 7-3-1 O/U in their last 11.

While both teams have many key stars out, neither has defended well lately. Memphis has allowed at least 110 in 5 of its last 6 games. Expect a similar showing and back OVER 208 (-110).

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Grizzlies lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-101 on the road Wednesday, covering as a 13.5-point underdog. Memphis has covered in 5 of its last 6 games and is 29-30 against the spread (ATS) on the season. The Grizzlies have struggled immensely as of late, losing 12 of their last 14; however, they have covered in 9 of those.

The Trail Blazers lost to the Miami Heat 106-96 Tuesday, failing to cover as a 7-point road underdog. Portland has struggled for betters as of late, losing 7 in a row and failing to cover in each of those. It is 25-32 ATS on the season. The Blazers are led by G Anfernee Simons, who is averaging 22.6 points per game.

Trail Blazers at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 108, Trail Blazers  106

Moneyline

PASS.

The Grizzlies have lost 3 straight and 12 of their last 14. They haven’t played well enough to back even against a struggling Portland side. Avoid a moneyline play.

Against the spread

LEAN TRAIL BLAZERS +3 (-110).

The Grizzlies have covered well as of late, but they are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games as a favorite. Similarly, the Trail Blazers have been awful over the last few weeks, but they have had success covering on the road. Portland is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 road games.

The Grizzlies are down too many key players with their top 4 scoring options all sidelined in this game. Expect them to struggle and take the slight-healthier road underdog.

Back TRAIL BLAZERS +3 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 208.5 (-110).

The Grizzlies have gone in 6 of their last 10 games. They are 6-3-1 O/U in those 10 and have scored at least 110 points in 4 of those. They have allowed at least 110 in 4 of their last 5, so the Grizzlies defense has struggled throughout the last few weeks.

The Blazers have gone Over in 3 of their last 5 games, allowing at least 120 points in 3 of their last 5. Neither is defends at a high level, which should bode well for points in this game. Take OVER 208.5 (-110).

Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (24-26) open a 3-game road trip when they face the Memphis Grizzlies (32-18) Wednesday. Tip-off from FedExForum is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Trail Blazers vs. Grizzlies odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Trail Blazers have won 3 of the past 4 games overall, bouncing back after a 3-game losing skid from Jan. 17-22. Portland is still having an issue against the number, cashing in just 2 of the past 7 games. The Over is 3-1 in The Balzers’ last 4 outings, including hitting the Over (232.5) last time out in a 129-125 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Monday.

The Grizzlies picked up a 112-110 win over the Indiana Pacers Sunday, halting a 5-game losing skid. Memphis is also just 2-5 against the spread across the past 7 games overall, while the Under is on a 6-0 run.

Memphis recorded a 111-106 victory when these teams first met on Nov. 2, although Portland was able to record a cover as a 5.5-point underdog while the Under (228) connected.

Trail Blazers at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 117, Trail Blazers 109

Moneyline

The Grizzlies (-220) will cost you over 2 times your potential return, and that’s too expensive, even if they are nearly unbeatable at home. Memphis is 21-3 in 24 games at the FedExForum while Portland is just 10-15 in 25 outings on the road.

PASS.

Against the spread

The GRIZZLIES -5.5 (-110) are worth playing, as the Trail Blazers have had a rough go of it lately.

Portland has failed to cover in 8 straight games on the road and is 2-7 ATS in the past 9 games against winning teams. The Blazers are also 4-10 ATS in the past 14 games overall and 2-12 ATS in the past 14 when working on a single day of rest.

Over/Under

UNDER 234.5 (-110) is a solid play based on the team and head-to-head trends.

The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 meetings in this series. Memphis has hit the Under in 6 in a row, while Portland has hit the Under in 21 of the past 29 games on the road. The Blazers have also cashed the Under in 7 in a row on the road against teams with a winning home record and in 4 of the past 5 against teams with a winning overall mark.

Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Memphis Grizzlies NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (31-29) host the Portland Trail Blazers (33-28) Wednesday at FedExForum for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Trail Blazers-Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Portland snapped a five-game losing skid—which included back-to-back losses to the Grizzlies April 23 and 25—by trampling the Indiana Pacers 133-112 Tuesday.

The Blazers lost seven of their last nine games while going 4-5 against the spread and have slid to seventh in the Western Conference. They’re 1.5 games ahead of the 8th-seeded Grizzlies and 1 game behind the 6th-seeded Dallas Mavericks.

Memphis wrapped up a seven-game road trip with a 120-96 blowout loss to the Denver Nuggets Monday. The Grizzlies were 4-3 straight up and 5-2 ATS with two of those wins against the Blazers.

Trail Blazers at Grizzlies: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 122, Trail Blazers 116

Money line (ML)

This is a “double-revenge” spot for the Blazers, as they lost the first two meetings with the GRIZZLIES (-125) this season.

The “double-revenge” angle is something specific to this season since the COVID-19-altered schedule has teams in the same conference playing each other three times instead of the usual four-game regular-season meetings.

Why I “like” Memphis in this spot is because the market is blindly backing Portland under the thinking the Grizzlies won’t sweep the regular-season series.

Nearly 90% of the money wagered is on Portland’s money line, according to pregame.com, and typically it’s profitable to “fade” such a lopsided market in sports betting.

Also, Memphis matches up very well against Portland and the Grizzlies’ money line inherently has value due to this surface-level analysis.

The Grizzlies score the most second-chance points, fast-break points and points in the paint per game, whereas Portland’s defense is in the bottom-10 in each of those areas.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS unless Memphis’ money line goes below -140 then I’d lay the points with the Grizzlies at a cheaper cost.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 240.5 (-110) for a quarter unit because this is a “Pros vs. Joes” situation in the betting market with more money coming in on the Under and more bets have been placed on the Over.

Bookmakers reacted to early action on the Over by moving the total up from the 235.5-point opener, giving us a 5-point cushion on the original number.

Regardless of how well Memphis matches up with Portland or how hot the Blazers backcourt can get behind the 3-point arc, a total in the 240s can easily go Under if both teams struggle shooting in just one quarter.
