Hawks at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 121, Trail Blazers 116

Moneyline

PASS.

The Hawks aren’t worth the juice to play on the moneyline and have better odds on the spread. Similarly, the Trail Blazers haven’t played well enough to deserve a moneyline play either.

Against the spread

BET HAWKS -3.5 (-110).

Portland beat the Timberwolves in 2 straight home games, but lost to the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies and Timberwolves in the 3 games prior. The Trail Blazers are 2-2 ATS and straight up in their last 4 home games. They have allowed at least 127 points twice in the last 4 games.

The Hawks have covered in 3 straight road games, one of which was a win over the Boston Celtics as a 16-point underdog. They are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games. Considering those trends, back HAWKS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 231.5 (-110).

The Hawks are 4-1 O/U in their last 5 games, scoring at least 121 points n 3 of them. They are 11-2 O/U on the season. Atlanta also struggled defensively and has given up at least 116 in 6 straight games.

The Trail Blazers should mimic that pace and are 3-2 O/U in their last 5 games. They are averaging 114 points per game over the last 2, both against a much better defensive team in Minnesota.

Back OVER 231.5 (-110).

Minnesota Timberwolves at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Minnesota Timberwolves at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Minnesota Timberwolves (6-5) and Portland Trail Blazers (4-8) meet Wednesday at Moda Center at 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Timberwolves vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

These teams just met Tuesday in an In-Season Tournament game, and the Blazers stunned the Timberwolves 122-108 as a 9-point underdog while the Over (222.5) cashed. It was payback for a 127-102 beatdown the T-wolves put on the Blazers in the Twin Cities Friday night, also as the Over (220.5) connected.

In Tuesday’s game, Minnesota actually shot 50.7% (37-of-73) from the field, including 37.1% (13-of-35) from behind the 3-point line and 91.3% (21-of-23) from the free-throw line. G Anthony Edwards went for 26 points, including 4 triples, while C Naz Reid came off the bench for 28 points and 4 made 3-pointers, too. The Wolves were a little sloppy, though, posting 21 turnovers, and they had a minus-7 rebounding margin.

The Blazers were also hot from the field, hitting at a 51.2% (43-of-84) clip, while going bonkers from downtown at a 56.3% (18-of-32) pace. F Toumani Camara and G Dalano Banton each dropped in 4 triples apiece.

Timberwolves at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 118, Trail Blazers 106

Moneyline

Tuesday’s tournament game should serve as a cautionary tale why you never bet huge favorites.

The Timberwolves (-390) will set you back nearly 4 times your potential return, and there’s just no value there.

AVOID.

Against the spread

We’ll back the TIMBERWOLVES -9 (-110) to rebound from Tuesday’s embarrassment. It’s hard for teams to beat another twice in a row, and there is no way the Trail Blazers +9 (-110) will be nearly as hot from behind the arc as they were Tuesday. There has been evidence of that all season.

Portland is 0-3 SU and 1-1-1 ATS in 3 games this season when playing on no rest, including the loss and non-cover in Minnesota Nov. 8.

For Minnesota, it is 1-1 SU/ATS in 2 games on no rest, and that lone win and cover was against the Blazers Nov. 8 after topping the Bulls in Chicago the night before.

Over/Under

OVER 219.5 (-110) is the lean, but go lightly. Both of these defenses could be spent after each playing within the past 24 hours. Hey, at least they didn’t have to travel, though.

The Over is 3-1 in the past 4 games for Minnesota, and 6-2 in the past 8 outings. For Portland, the Over is 3-1 in the past 4 games, including the 2 battles with the Wolves.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Minnesota Timberwolves at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Minnesota Timberwolves (6-4) and Portland Trail Blazers (3-8) meet Tuesday at Moda Center for an In-Season Tournament game at 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Timberwolves vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Timberwolves lead 1-0

These teams just met in the Twin Cities on Friday, with the Timberwolves coming away with the 127-102 win as a 12-point favorite while the Over (220.5) cashed. Minnesota has won 5 in a row in the series after sweeping the regular-season series in 2023-24, while going 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in those games. The Over has cashed in 4 in a row in the series.

G Anthony Edwards scored 37 points in the Friday win over Portland, including 9 made 3-pointers with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal.

The Trail Blazers have dropped 3 in a row, while also going 0-3 ATS. The Blazers scored a season-low 89 points in an embarrassing 45-point loss Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies in front of the home fans.

Timberwolves at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 121, Trail Blazers 107

Moneyline

The Timberwolves (-400) will cost you 4 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward.

Even as part of a multi-leg parlay, backing Minnesota makes no sense, as including it sucks all of the value out of your ticket.

AVOID.

Against the spread

Back the TIMBERWOLVES -8.5 (-110) to get the job done in the Rose City. Minnesota just pounded Portland by 25 points over the weekend, and this Trail Blazers +8.5 (-110) team was punished by 45 points last time out at home by a Memphis team which didn’t even have Ja Morant.

Over/Under

OVER 218.5 (-110) is worth a look based on how poorly Portland’s defense has been playing. The Blazers have allowed 118 points or more in 3 in a row, with the Over going 2-1 in the span, including the most recent meeting with Minnesota.

The Timberwolves have cashed high in 5 of the past 7 games, going for 112 or more points in 7 of the past 9 outings.

Memphis Grizzlies at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Memphis Grizzlies (6-4) and Portland Trail Blazers (3-7) meet Sunday at Moda Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Grizzlies vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Trail Blazers won 3-1 in 2023-24

The Grizzlies worked over the Washington Wizards 128-104 Friday as a 7.5-point favorite as the Over (231.5) cashed. F Ja Morant was injured in the previous game against the LA Lakers, a 131-114 win on Wednesday. Morant is considered week-to-week after suffering a posterior hip subluxation and multiple Grade 1 pelvic muscle strain after a hard fall.

The Trail Blazers were hammered 127-102 in Minnesota on Friday, failing to cover as a 12-point underdog as the Over (220.5) cashed. Portland has won just once in the past 5 games, and it failed to cover in back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Over has also cashed in consecutive outings for the first time in the 2024-25 campaign.

Grizzlies at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Trail Blazers 121, Grizzlies 116

Moneyline

The TRAIL BLAZERS (+105) are worth a look at plus-money in this battle in the Rose City.

The Grizzlies (-115) are playing their first road game since losing Morant to his injury. While Memphis has been pretty successful at home, and that was with Morant mostly on the floor, the Grizzlies have just a single win in the past 3 road games.

Against the spread

Playing the Trail Blazers +1.5 (-115) is silly, unless you’re absolutely convinced that the Grizzlies -1.5 (-105) are going to win, but only by a single point.

If that’s not you, and you like Portland, just play it straight up for a cheaper price.

AVOID.

Over/Under

OVER 226.5 (-110) is worth a look in this battle.

The Grizzlies have managed 129.5 points per game in the past 2 games, and Scottie Pippen Jr. has really picked up the pace in Morant’s stead, averaging 12.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists in the previous 2 outings, including a triple-double against the Wizards.

The Over is 7-3 in 10 games for the Grizzlies this season, including 3-1 in 4 road outings.

For the Blazers, the Over has cashed in consecutive games, and the Over is 3-1 in 4 games at home this season.

The Suns are 2-0 at home so far this season and have faced only expected playoff contenders in both L.A. teams and Dallas.

They have beaten the Blazers in 3 straight meetings in Phoenix and in 7 of the last 10 overall.

Expect a Suns win, but stay away from the -900 odds unless it is part of a parlay bet.

PASS.

Against the spread

Three of the Blazers’ 4 losses have been by at least 13 points.

The Suns’ largest margin of victory so far was 12 points but was against Dallas.

Four of the last 5 wins for the Suns over Portland have been by 13 or more points.

BET SUNS -12.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Three of the Blazers’ 6 games this season have surpassed the projected total for tonight’s game.

Three of the Suns’ 5 games this season have also surpassed the projected total for this game.

Their last matchup last season finished with 243 points.

BET OVER 224.5 (-115).

Oklahoma City Thunder at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Oklahoma City Thunder at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Oklahoma City Thunder (4-0) take on the Portland Trail Blazers (2-3) Friday at Moda Center. Tipoff is set for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Thunder vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Thunder won 4-0 last year

The Thunder rolled in a 105-93 victory over the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night. They failed to cover a lofty 12.5-point spread, though. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had an off night with “just” 18 points on 7-for-20 (2-for-10 from 3-point range) shooting. F Luguentz Dort (20) and C Chet Holmgren (19) had his back with 39 points combined.

The Blazers snipped the LA Clippers 106-105 in a Wednesday road victory as 8-point dogs. G Anfernee Simons had a team-high 25 points. C Deandre Ayton was one of the 5 players in double figures with 15 points and 12 boards. The Blazers have won 2 of 3.

Thunder at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 109, Trail Blazers 101

Moneyline

The Blazers are an improved team, and once they get some of their parts healthy again, they could see a significant boost to their win total. However, OKC is finding ways to win in SGA’s off nights and are building chemistry for June.

I don’t see any upsets here, but OKC -650 is way out of our price range. Instead, I’m keying in on Holmgren. Opposing him, Ayton has been under fire for not being a great interior defender his whole career. Meanwhile, Holmgren’s numbers are way up from his first year last season. His 22.5 PPG (16.5 last year), 11.0 RPG (7.9) and 3.5 blocks (2.3) are all way up early on. I could see a 20-and-10 performance here.

Take CHET HOLMGREN OVER 30.5 POINTS+REBOUNDS+ASSISTS (-125).

Against the spread

The Blazers were engulfed 140-104 in their home opener by the Golden State Warriors. After that, they’ve gone 3-0-1 ATS.

So while I’m selling OKC here, don’t undersell Portland at home in this spot. They have held teams to 106 PPG after that smashing by the Dubs.

Take TRAIL BLAZERS +11.5 (-110).

Over/Under

As mentioned, the Blazers have kept teams from dropping more than 111 on them in the last 4 games. Meanwhile, OKC is just 17th with 112.3 PPG and 27th at 31.2% from distance.

I really like the UNDER 220.5 (-110) here.

Portland Trail Blazers at LA Clippers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Portland Trail Blazers at LA Clippers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The LA Clippers (2-1) welcome the Portland Trail Blazers (1-3) to the Intuit Dome Wednesday. Tip is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Trail Blazers vs. Clippers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Clipers went 4-0 last season

The Clippers beat the Golden State Warriors 112-104 Sunday, closing as a 9-point road underdog. They have been an underdog in all 3 games this season and have covered in each. Their lone loss was a 116-113 home defeat to the Phoenix Suns to open the season. Los Angeles has been consistently efficient offensively, scoring at least 109 points in all 3 games. It is led by G James Harden, who is averaging 25 points per game (PPG).

The Trail Blazers have been the opposite of efficient offensively, scoring over 104 points just once in 4 games. They are coming off a 111-98 road loss to the Sacramento Kings Monday, pushing as a 13-point underdog. Portland is 2-1-1 against the spread (ATS) and 0-0-1 ATS on the road. It has allowed at least 111 points twice in 4 games. The Trail Blazers are led by G Jerami Grant, who is averaging 21.3 PPG.

Trail Blazers at Clippers picks and predictions

Prediction

Clippers 116,  Trail Blazers 105

Moneyline

PASS.

The Clippers (-350)  should win this game, but they aren’t worthy a play as a strong home favorite. Similarly, the Trail Blazers have lost 3 of 4 and are 0-1 on the road. They aren’t worthy of a play as a sizable (+280) road underdog.

Against the spread

BET CLIPPERS -8.5 (-110).

The Clippers have been surging this season and have the star power in Harden to keep that up even without Leonard playing. Los Angeles has won all 3 games, including a pair against quality, playoff-caliber teams. Portland has lost 2 of its 4 games by double figures and is 0-1 ATS on the road.

The inefficiency in its stars, both of Portland’s top scorers have shot 42% from the field or worse, is worrisome and cause for concern. Take the more efficient side that has been exceeding expectations to start the season. Back CLIPPERS -8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 219.5 (-110).

The Trail Blazers are 2-2 O/U this season and have traded off going Over and Under in all 4 games, primed to go Over in this one after putting up a mere 98 against the Kings Monday (they put up 125 on the Pelicans the game prior).

The Clippers are 1-2 O/U, but have scored 109 or more in all 4 games, so they should be able to score more than their fair share of points. They have gone Over this total in 2 of 3 games and have hit at least 213 combined points in all 3.

Considering those trends, back OVER 219.5 (-110).
