Fighters from Saturday’s UFC 297 took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $285,500.

TORONTO – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC 297 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $285,500.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC 297 took place at Scotiabank Arena in Canada. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPNews and ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2011 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

UFC on ESPN 51 video: 21-year-old Iasmin Lucindo taps out Polyana Viana

Iasmin Lucindo, 21, built more hype about her prospect status with a submission of Polyana Viana at UFC on ESPN 51.

[autotag]Iasmin Lucindo[/autotag] showed again why she’s one of the most intriguing prospects in the strawweight division on Saturday when she submitted [autotag]Polyana Viana[/autotag] at UFC on ESPN 51.

The 21-year-old Lucindo (15-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) made it back-to-back octagon victories when she forced her fellow Brazilian Viana (13-6 MMA, 4-5 UFC) to tap out at the 3:42 mark of Round 2 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The fight was something of a grind until Lucindo got on top and locked in the choke, which you can watch a replay of below (via Twitter):

After dropping her octagon debut, Lucindo has now pieced together a pair of wins and looks more and more like she has a very bright future at 115 pounds.

Cosplay for a walkout? Not happening, UFC tells Polyana Viana: ‘I’ve tried so many times’

Polyana Viana loves to cosplay different anime characters, but the UFC rejected her walking out in one.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Polyana Viana[/autotag] loves to cosplay different anime characters, but the UFC rejected her walking out in one.

Viana (13-5 MMA, 4-4 UFC) takes on Iasmin Lucindo (14-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 51 main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card airs on ESPN and streams on ESPN+.

The rising Brazilian strawweight has posted numerous images of her in anime outfits on Instagram, but won’t get to walk out in one.

“I’ve tried so many times, and I’ve actually asked to come in with a bandana,” Viana told MMA Junkie and other reporters through an interpreter at Thursday’s media day. “They’ve never allowed it. I wanted a cape. I’ve tried with like a blank bandana – I can’t. Apparently Naruto is a brand that does not allow it or something like that. I’ve tried so many times. I’ve asked. They never let me do it, but if I could, I definitely would.”

Viana recently made the move to Chute Boxe Diego Lima – home of former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. It’s a move that has made a big difference, and given her the confidence to make a title run.

“I used to say that I only wanted the money, and I said I wasn’t ready to go after a belt – and I do feel that I am right now,” Viana said. “It’s a completely different game. I feel that I’ve improved so much.

“I think I’ve improved standing up, I’ve improved on the ground, I’ve improved against the fence. I didn’t even want to face ranked opponents (before, but) I want to face a ranked opponent (now). I feel that I’m ready to face top 10, top five, even the top one. I’ve improved a lot. It’s been great.”
