Stephen A. Smith seriously broke down Mewtwo vs. LeBron in a 1-on-1 game

Stephen A. Smith answering Pokemon questions is the best.

Stephen A. Smith is now devoting on-air time to absurd questions about Pokemon.

We saw it back in January when he was asked about with of three Pokemons he would pick, choosing Charmander over Squirtle and Bulbasaur because “it reminds me of me because of the forehead.”

And now, the ESPN personality was asked if Mewtwo could beat LeBron James in a game of one-on-one. Smith once again took the assignment seriously, thinking “maybe he could pull it off,” and it might not happen, but it could.

A totally reasonable take. And if this is going to continue to be a thing, I’m here for it.

All Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC version exclusives

Our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet versions exclusive lists all DLC Pokemon you can only get in one game, including Legendary exclusives

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC version exclusives are a thing just like they are in every other mainline game. The Indigo Disk expansion brings dozens of critters from previous Pokemon games back, including regional variants such as Alolan Vulpix and even some new legendary Pokemon. As always, the only way to get a Pokemon from a version you don’t own is to trade for it, so if you have friends with a different version, consider offering them an exclusive trade for one of theirs.

All the Pokemon starters are in both versions, so you can get Squirtle, Fennekin, and all the rest no matter which version you’re playing.

How to evolve Inkay into Malamar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC probably seems confusing if you never played Pokemon X and Y, or maybe even more so if you did. Inkay’s original evolution method took advantage of some specific 3DS features in a very specific way. Even if you know the basics, it’s easy to mess up the process or start it too late.

Or it was until now. Our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Inkay evolution guide explains just what you need to do and when.

Getting to the point where you can start finding Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC’s starter Pokemon works a bit differently than you might expect. While the expansion’s trailer showed the likes of Squirtle and Treecko wandering freely, you actually have to put some effort into making that happen. There’s also some guesswork involved in determining which Pokemon shows up in a given biome, as there aren’t any type rules or patterns at play.

Our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC starter locations guide points out where to look for each starter, with images to help pinpoint exact habitat areas.

Finding the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Meloetta location is a tough challenge, and not just on account of the melodic ‘mon’s good hiding place. Once you find where Meloetta is, you have to coax them to appear, something the game is happy to make you struggle to figure out for yourself. Once you finally meet all the criteria and make yourself worthy for Meloetta to perform in front of, you’ll get a chance to catch the elusive legendary.

Our Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Meloetta guide lays out everything you need to do to reach that point.

The Pokemon GO Winter Timed Research tasks are here, with plenty to keep you busy as the year draws to a close. Niantic is offering the first round of Winter Timed Research tasks for free for all players in the Pokemon game, though if you want to tick every box, you’ll have to pay for it. Some of the tasks are only available as paid research and cost $1.99 and $4.99 in the in-game shop. Niantic is also running Winter Wishes and Frosty Festivities alongside the main event, two separate quests with even more rewards to earn.

There’s quite a bit to do in the free tasks and a chance to earn rewards, find rare spawns, and more, though, so if you’re keen on keeping your money in your wallet, you won’t be getting shortchanged.

Grab a free Shiny Lucario and Darkrai in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are celebrating Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk with free rare Pokemon

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Game Freak and The Pokemon Company are celebrating Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Indigo Disk with free rare Pokemon for a limited time. Starting now, you can redeem Mystery Gift codes for Shiny Lucario, until Jan. 3, 2024, and one for Darkrai. The Darkrai code is only active until Dec. 21, 2023, so make sure to get on it soon if you’re interested.

You can catch Riolu and Lucario in Scarlet and Violet with a chance of either being Shiny, so that code is a nice helping hand that saves you eating three dozen sandwiches and hoping for the best. There’s no way to get Darkrai in Scarlet and Violet at the moment without a code unless you transfer from a previous game using Pokemon Home. If you want to fill out your national Pokedex and add a powerful Dark-type ‘mon to your team, now’s the time to do it.

The celebration coincides with the release of Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disc DLC, where legendary Pokemon – except Darkrai – play an important role. Throwing nearly all the legendaries in one final expansion is becoming a Pokemon tradition at this point, and The Indigo Disc is carrying it on in a big way.

You’ll find the likes of Kubfu, Moltres, Latios and Latias, and Virizion, among others,  scattered across Paldea, waiting for you to roll up and end their career of legendary wandering by cramming them in a tiny ball.

The Indigo Disc launches on Dec. 15, 2023, and comes bundled with The Teal Mask, part one of Scarlet and Violet’s DLC.

December Pokemon GO 5-star Raids

Our December Pokemon GO 5-star raids list lays out what to expect from legendary raids each week of the month and which Mega Raids run too

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

The December Pokemon GO 5-star raids have begun, as Niantic kicks off a month of Gen 5 legendaries and one all-powerful monster from Gen 4. Each week in the Pokemon game features a different 5-star raid, and you have the whole week to take part in as many raids as you have passes for. That’s handy, since most of them have a chance of being shiny as well – more raids mean a better likelihood of running into a shiny legendary. 5-star raids also come with bonus Candy and other useful items, so whether you want the featured Pokemon or not, it’s usually worth joining at least one.

A new raid boss always replaces the previous one at 10 a.m. local time on the raid’s start date.

The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7-star Hisuian Samurott Raid is just around the corner, giving us a chance to nab a high-level Pokemon you can’t normally find in Paldea. Hisuian Samurott has a slight edge over its Unova counterpart with Water and Dark dual-typing and stronger attacks. You’ll need to balance striking hard with playing it safe and keeping your team healthy during this fight, even with the right counters. The task might seem daunting, but we’ve put together a strong team of capable fighters to help see you through.

Nintendo announces Pokemon DLC Indigo Disc release date

Nintendo announced the Indigo Disc Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC release date and some tips for starting in the Pokemon game

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company announced the Indigo Disc Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC release date and some tips for starting in the Pokemon game. The Indigo Disc DLC launches on Dec. 14, 2023, and if you bought the Teal Mask DLC, the Indigo Disc comes with it.

You also can’t buy them separately, so you’ll have to buy The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero if you want the Indigo Disc. Make sure it’s the version that matches your version – either Scarlet or Violet.

Before you can get started on your field trip to Unova’s Blueberry Academy, you’ll need to finish the full base game, meaning you need to defeat all eight Gym Leaders and Elite Four, complete the Star Path, and finish the Path of Legends.

The Indigo Disc takes you to an underwater academy with several different biomes where Pokemon from other regions flourish. You’ll have the chance to catch all the starter Pokemon from every previous game, along with ‘mon you can’t normally find in Paldea. There’s also a new Elite Four and plenty of tough trainers to test your mettle against.

Since the academy is in Unova, some fans are speculating that Game Freak is gearing up for Pokemon Black and White remakes. Pokemon Day is only two months after The Indigo Disc releases, so we’ll know soon enough whether that speculation turns out to be true.
