Cardinals-Rams preview, picks, predictions and best bets

Jess Root and Seth Cox preview the Cardinals’ Week 2 game and make predictions and picks for it on the podcast.

The Arizona Cardinals are set to face the Los Angeles Rams Sunday afternoon at State Farm Stadium, both seeking their first win of the season after each suffered six-point losses on the road in Week 1.

The Cardinals haven’t beaten the Rams at home in 10 years.

Seth Cox and I recorded a new podcast episode to preview the game.

We spoke of how the Rams looked in their Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions and what the keys will be for the Cardinals to beat them.

We went over important matchups and then gave game predictions. We both believe the Cardinals will win a close game.

We also give you our favorite prop bets for the game, so if you want to make a little money in addition to cheering on the Cardinals, take advantage of that.

It’s a great show! Have a listen!

Cardinals-Bills reactions: The good, the bad and what needs to change

Jess Root and Seth Cox break down the good and bad in the Cardinals’ loss to the Bills in the latest edition of the podcast.

The Arizona Cardinals lost their season opener on Sunday on the road to the Buffalo Bills. In this edition of the podcast, Seth Cox and I react to the game.

There was good and bad in the loss.

We go over the good, especially the early offensive play, the play of most of  the offensive line, the individual play of linebackers Zaven Collins and Mack Wilson, and how they put themselves in a position to win the game late after things got away from them.

We go over the bad, and there was plenty. Mostly, it was the fact they couldn’t stop Josh Allen at all and they could not beat the Bills’ tackles.

We also go over things we believe that need to change moving forward, such as the offense making a more concerted effort to pressure the boundaries of the defense and get Marvin Harrison Jr. involved.

Duke basketball legend announces new podcast series

Shane Battier, who won a national championship and a national player of the year award with Duke, revealed his new podcast on Monday.

Duke basketball fans will get a lot more [autotag]Shane Battier[/autotag] content in the near future.

The Blue Devils legend revealed his new podcast “Glue Guys” on Monday, which he will co-host with former NFL quarterback Alex Smith.

“Our new podcast dives into the unsung heroes of life—the people, moments, and lessons that keep us grounded and moving forward,” Battier wrote on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter). “Join us as we uncover and celebrate the stories of everyday resilience and hidden gems in our journeys.”

Battier won a national championship with the Blue Devils in 2001, the same year he earned Associated Press Player of the Year honors. He averaged 19.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 2.1 steals as a senior, and he’s the only player in school history with both 250 career blocks and 250 career steals.

Battier ended up getting drafted sixth overall in the 2001 NBA draft, and he went on to win back-to-back NBA titles with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013.

Cardinals-Bills Week 1 postgame analysis

Howard Balzer talks about the Cardinals’ loss to the Bills on the latest edition of the podcast.

The Arizona Cardinals lost on Sunday to the Buffalo Bills 34-28 after taking a 17-3 lead. This episode of the podcast has Howard Balzer giving his postgame thoughts.

He talks about the offensive numbers for the Cardinals and how there should be some context. While they only gained 270 total yards, that was as good or better than 10 other teams in the league.

He had thoughts about the numbers for Marvin Harrison Jr. and the still frame that shows how Kyler Murray didn’t see Harrison wide open for a touchdowns.

He reminds us that play execution is often more important than play calling.

The Cardinals are like half the league that lost their games in Week 1.

He calls for some optimism.

Cardinals-Bills Week 1 preview, keys, matchups, predictions, best bets

Jess Root and Seth Cox make predictions for and preview Cardinals-Bills on the latest edition of the podcast.

The Arizona Cardinals and the Buffalo Bills play one another Sunday in Week 1, and that is the topic of this new edition of the podcast with me and Seth Cox.

This is our Week 1 preview.

We go over the keys for the Cardinals to win or compete. We go over the key matchups in the game. We make predictions and go over some prop bets to make to win some money on the game.

Keys?

They need to force Josh Allen to turn the ball over and limit tight end Dalton Kincaid. They need to test the Bills’ new secondary.

Matchups?

Linebacker Kyzir White against Kincaid will be important. The Bills’ edge rushers against the Cardinals’ tackles will also be critical.

Predictions?

Listen to the show (or read our predictions post that is coming soon).

Cameron Jordan pushes back on Amon-Ra St. Brown’s big Saints question

Cameron Jordan shut down Amon-Ra St. Brown’s claim that the Saints don’t believe in themselves. He argues they just need a chance:

https://twitter.com/stbrownpodcast/status/1831413472833241439?s=46&t=_U0UBmCWxF2s5xLnGQ2rFQ

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is back pushing the “New Orleans Saints don’t believe in themselves” button. He did it with his brother Equanimeous St. Brown earlier this offseason. Now, Amon-Ra tried it with team leader Cameron Jordan. That conversation went differently.

Jordan opened his response by saying, “Just because your brother didn’t know how to answer that question has nothing to do with me.” Of all the people to ask, Jordan was probably the last one to pose this question to. There may not be a member on the roster with greater belief that Jordan, and there’s even less who can convey better.

Jordan gave a clear-cut, straightforward “Yes” to the idea of whether or not the Saints believe they’re contenders. That wasn’t enough for Amon-Ra who wanted to know if the belief was the same as when New Orleans went the NFC championship game.

Jordan believes Week 4 is the true point in which you really know a team. This is when Jordan went on the offensive, telling the wide receiver “As confident as you can be right now, you’ve only really tasted playoff success once.”

It was an important statement to make because you’d think Amon-Ra played for the two-time Supeer Bowl champion Kansas Chiefs by his tone. The Lions should be a good team, but the NFL is volatile. Things change quickly. Confidence doesn’t immediately equate to success.

Jordan ended with a strong endorsement of the defense. “Our defensive line is crazy. Our linebackers studs. Our defensive back… stupid (talented).” There might be someone in the Saints locker room who doesn’t believe they can go the distance this year. But that person for sure isn’t Cameron Jordan.

Cardinals-Bills Week 1 preview: Players, matchups, picks, predictions

Jess Root is joined by Bills Wire’s Nick Wojton to preview the Cardinals-Bills Week 1 matchup with matchups, picks and predictions.

The Arizona Cardinals will take on the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 1 to open their season. To prepare for this game, in the latest edition of the podcast, I was joined by Bills Wire managing editor Nick Wojton.

It was our podcast Week 1 preview for Cardinals-Bills.

We talked about quarterback Josh Allen and whether he is overrated or not, what he does well. We discussed how the Bills might look offensively in 2024 after receiver Stefon Diggs was traded and receiver Gabriel Davis departed in free agency.

How will the receiver room of Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman look and how will the passing game change?

Will James Cook cook again and how will the depth shape up?

We also talk about the loss of linebacker Matt Milano and what is expected from the defense.

Nick and I give what we believe to be the key matchups in this game and we both make game predictions.

He sees the Bills handling the Cardinals in a double-digit win, while I think the Bills win a high-scoring, close game where the Cardinals cover the 6.5-point spread.

I give Nick some over/under lines for some stats like touchdowns, interceptions and more.

Listen to get all the details!

Needed offensive and defensive stats for Cardinals in 2024; team captain reactions

Jess Root and Seth Cox talk about the Cardinals’ new captains and go over stats certain players need to hit in 2024 for success.

It is officially Week 1 for the Arizona Cardinals and they are preparing for the Buffalo Bills. At the start of the week, they named their team captains. Seth Cox and I discussed in the latest episode of the podcast how this year’s captains were chosen differently.

Last year, head coach Jonathan Gannon selected six captains. This time, players voted and four were selected — quarterback Kyler Murray, running back James Conner, linebacker Kyzir White and safety Budda Baker.

They were captains last year as well, in addition to D.J. Humphries, who is no longer on the team, and linebacker Dennis Gardeck.

We discussed how the Cardinals will also have game captains chosen each week as well.

After that, we talked about offensive and defensive numbers we hope to see individuals have in 2024. We think Kyler Murray needs 4,500 combined passing and rushing yards and 35 combined touchdowns, while I believe he needs to specifically hit the 4,000-yard passing mark.

With the absence of BJ Ojulari, we talked about how many sacks different players need.

Listen to all that and more in this new edition of the show.
