Alabama football coaches recognize 12 players following Iron Bowl win over Auburn

Nick Saban and his staff selected 12 total players as players of the week following Alabama’s 49-27 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

On Monday, following Alabama’s 49-27 win over their arch-rivals the Auburn Tigers, the Crimson Tide coaching staff selected a total of 12 members of the team as players of the week.

On offense, the coaching staff selected a total of seven players including star quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] who accumulated over 300 yards passing on the day. The coaching staff also recognized all of the starting offensive linemen including Tyler Booker who splits time at guard with Javion Cohen.

The defense was represented by Will Anderson and Brian Branch while Ja’Corey Brooks, James Burnip, and Emmanuel Henderson got the nod with their roles on special teams.

Here is what the coaching staff credited each player with on Alabama’s official website rolltide.com.

Florida announces Players of the Week for Tennessee game

Florida may have lost on Saturday, but there will still plenty of performances worth recognizing from the boys in Orange in Blue.

Despite the final score of Saturday’s game between Florida and Tennessee, there was a lot to like from the Gators.

On Monday, the team took a moment to recognize the top performers from the contest and revealed who the Players of the Week were. Three players on offense, defense and special teams (game-changers) were selected.

On offense, quarterback [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] and receivers [autotag]Justin Shorter[/autotag] and [autotag]Ricky Pearsall[/autotag] got the nod. Richardson provided 515 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in what was easily the best game of his collegiate career so far. Shorter led the way with seven receptions for 155 yards, and Pearsall also broke the century mark (103 yards) on five grabs.

Safety [autotag]Rashad Torrence II[/autotag], linebacker [autotag]Ventrell Miller[/autotag] and linebacker/STAR [autotag]Amari Burney[/autotag] earned the honors on defense. Miller played hurt after missing just one week with an ankle injury and totaled six tackles against Tennesse while forcing a fumble and recovering another. Torrence led the team in total tackles with 13 (11 solo), and he also broke up a pass. Burney finished second on the team with eight tackles (seven solo), including 2.5 tackles for a loss, a pair of sacks for nine yards and a forced fumble.

Punter [autotag]Jeremy Crawshaw[/autotag], linebacker [autotag]Diwun Black[/autotag] and safety [autotag]Kamari Wilson[/autotag] were all recognized for their efforts on special teams. Black made the big play of the night, snatching the ball out of the air on the onside kick to give Florida a last-second shot at the end zone. Crawshaw only delivered one punt on the night, but it landed inside the 20 and [autotag]Adam Mihalek[/autotag] missed his field goal, so it sort of had to be him. Wilson finished with five total tackles, including one on a kickoff return.

SEC Honors for Week 5 include two Alabama Football standouts

Crimson Tiders represented Alabama well in the SEC’s Week 5 list of honors!

The Alabama Crimson Tide dominated in a lopsided 42-21 win against then-No. 12 Ole Miss on Saturday. Alabama’s rushing attack, led by Brian Robinson, finally got going and gave the Rebels grief all game-long.

Defensively, the Crimson Tide barely gave an inch. They allowed just 213 yards through the air from Ole Miss QB Matt Corral, and a paltry 78 yards on 34 rushes, averaging just 2.3 yards per carry.

On Monday, the SEC officially released its players of the week, and two Crimson Tide stars were included in the honors.

Senior running back Brian Robinson Jr got the nod on the offensive side of the ball after picking up 171 yards on 36 rushes on Saturday. He punched it into the endzone four times. All three figures were career-highs for Robinson. He was also named Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week.

On the defensive side of the ball, Will Anderson earned the honor of Defensive Player of the Week after wrestling havoc in the backfield of the top-ranked offense in the nation.

Anderson recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and earned his third sack of the season in the big win. The LB added nine tackles to his tally on the season, and hurried the QB twice.

These guys were just part of the team-effort involved in the commanding win against a good SEC West foe in Ole Miss.
