Steelers DT Cam Heyward clears concussion protocol ahead of Bengals matchup

The Steelers announced this morning that Cam Heyward has cleared concussion protocol.

As the Pittsburgh Steelers fight the Cincinnati Bengals for their playoff lives on Saturday, defensive tackle Cam Heyward will be in the lineup. Steelers Senior Director of Communications Burt Lauten announced this morning that he’s cleared concussion protocol.

Heyward, who totaled five tackles, including a tackle for loss, suffered a concussion in Pittsburgh’s Week 15 loss to the Colts, though it’s not clear when as he did not leave the game. He was not reported with an injury during the game. Mike Tomlin didn’t say anything about the head injury until his press conference on Monday, so he likely didn’t experience symptoms until later. He was limited in practice on Tuesday but was a full participant yesterday.

Since returning from injured reserve with a groin injury in Week 9, Heyward’s been relatively quiet. He’s recorded two sacks, 30 tackles (six for loss) and three quarterback hits.

Steelers vs. Bengals injury report: Several starters log full practice

As practice ramps up ahead of the Steelers’ critical Saturday showdown with the Bengals, several starters logged full practices Wednesday.

As practice ramps up ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ critical Saturday showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals, several starters who were limited or didn’t participate on Tuesday logged full practices today.

Steelers vs. Bengals: 9 players show up on Tuesday injury report

Pittsburgh has 9 players listed on Week 16’s initial injury report.

As the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare for their Week 16 brawl with the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, nine players did not participate or were limited.

It was the first practice of the week, and we’ll have a better idea of who’s playing when the final report is released on Friday.

Steelers vs. Bengals: Minkah Fitzpatrick ruled out for Week 16

Minkah Fitzpatrick was ruled out for Pittsburgh’s Week 16 matchup with the Bengals.

Minkah Fitzpatrick, who went down with a knee injury in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ loss to the Indianapolis Colts, has been ruled out for Saturday’s game.

Tomlin said, via today’s press conference, that he doesn’t know how long Fitzpatrick’s current injury will keep him out.

Fitzpatrick was already dealing with a broken hand and has played just 147 defensive snaps since he returned in Week 12 from four weeks sidelined with a hamstring injury.

The seven-year veteran has had an unusally quiet season with three defended passes and 64 tackles in 10 games.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett still has chance to play vs. Bengals

Mike Tomlin hasn’t counted Kenny Pickett out for Saturday vs. Bengals.

While Mike Tomlin named Mason Rudolph the starter for Week 16, Kenny Pickett playing isn’t entirely out of the question.

Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday that the second-year quarterback has been pushing to play, and Tomlin shared in today’s press conference that his rehab is going well.

As usual, his quality of practice this week will dictate whether he suits up for the Cincinnati Bengals game. But Tomlin noted he’ll have to show he can move around in the pocket and protect himself.

Of course, Pickett wants to play. He sees his team struggling, and any good teammate wants to get in there to help. But given how poorly the offense has performed this season, it’s hard to see that a hobbled Pickett will provide them with the spark they so desperately need.

Steelers CB Patrick Peterson has pulse of fans after Bengals win

Patrick Peterson knows just how Steelers fans feel.

Gone are the days of the Pittsburgh Steelers manhandling their opponents, wracking up 30+ points and winning in convincing fashion. For most of their wins over the last three seasons, fans have been watching the Steelers hang on by a thread in their victories.

Pittsburgh’s 20-16 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday was no different. But it was a dub nonetheless, and that’s all that matters in the end.

Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson knows how fans feel. “I know we gave a lot of people a heart attack, but we did that s–t,” he said in an Instagram video.

Fans have grown accustomed to weekly heart attacks as the Steelers fight tooth and nail only to win by a narrow margin.

But December is coming, a month in which the franchise is historically in the top 10 of the league. Since 2013, the Steelers are 29-15 in the most critical month of the NFL season schedule.

They return to Acrisure (or Heinz Field as Kenny Pickett and many fans still call it) Sunday to take on Kyler Murray and the 2-10 Arizona Cardinals. This game should be where the Steelers destroy the Cardinals and leave them licking their wounds.

But they won’t. It’ll be another close one with fans sweating it out until the end.

Pittsburgh’s inactives list for Steelers vs Bengals

Here are the inactive players for Steelers-Bengals Week 12 matchup.

It’s a classic AFC North showdown as the Pittsburgh Steelers go into Paul Brown Stadium to take on Jake Browning and the Cincinnati Bengals.

As we learned on Friday, the Steelers will be without the services of Minkah Fitzpatrick for a fourth straight week.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase fires warning shot at Steelers defense

Ja’Marr Chase had some words for his upcoming opponent, Joey Porter Jr. and the Steelers defense.

Ja’Marr Chase won’t be catching passes from Joe Burrow, instead Jake Browning — for the first time in his career — but that hasn’t stopped him from talkin’ his talk.

Chase hears all the doubters since Burrow went down for the season last week and is eager to prove he can still be the same threat he was with his former college QB.

“We’ll show y’all this week,” Chase told Bengals.com’s Geoff Hobson. “Wait for the show.”

As usual, rookie cornerback Joey Porter Jr. remains unfazed. “These are situations I’ve always dreamed of, I watched as a kid — DBs have a one-on-one matchup with their top guys,” Porter said of defending Ja’Marr Chase. “Now it’s my turn to get that chance and see if I can take him.

“I feel like he’s an overall athlete, a good player. He’s been doing it in the league for a long time, so I’m excited for this matchup. I feel like I’m prepared for it, so let’s do it.”

Chase was sidelined with a hip injury in Cincinnati’s last matchup with the Steelers. Overall, he’s logged 233 yards and three touchdowns in three games versus the Steelers.

Chase talks the talk, but can he walk the walk versus Porter and the Steelers defense? We’ll find out in less than 24 hours.
