Pick Six Previews predicts Notre Dame will open CFP vs. Penn State

Would love this matchup.

Notre Dame widely is expected to make the College Football Playoff in its first season with a 12-team bracket. Most people also expect the Irish to host a first-round game. One publication officially has made a call on that.

Pick Six Previews, which brags about accurate it has been with its past predictions, has the Irish facing Penn State at Notre Dame Stadium in the first round. The Irish and Nittany Lions haven’t played other since 2007. The Nittany Lions last came to South Bend in 2006. The all-time series is deadlocked at 9-9-1.

This definitely would provide one of the playoff’s best environments as both teams have fiercely passionate fan bases. Even if the game turns into a blowout, there’s a fair chance that nobody in the stands would be sitting down for this one. And we already have covered the likely frenzied atmosphere of a December game at Notre Dame Stadium. There are no real losers in this scenario.

Pick Six Previews poll: Notre Dame more of a blue blood than USC

Take that, Trojans.

No, Notre Dame didn’t beat USC this past season, but not even having Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams has everyone praising the Trojans. The annual blue bloods poll by Pick Six Previews is out, and the Irish lead the Trojans by a whopping eight percentage points in the poll. In fact, the Irish are tied with Michigan for having the third-highest poll numbers with only Alabama and Ohio State ranking higher.

This is not to say the Irish have a better program than the Trojans. In fact, Williams’ return for 2023 probably makes the Trojans slight favorites for when the teems meet again. But the recent years of futility in Los Angeles undoubtedly still have a lingering effect on some people, and they perhaps need to see that the Trojans aren’t just a flash in the pan. Until they see that, Irish fans can take pride in the fact that in at least one poll, their team still has the upper hand.

CFB expert Brett Ciancia names his top 10

College football expert Brett Ciancia has named his top 10 following Week 3. Where is Georgia football?

College football expert Brett Ciancia has named his top 10 following Week 3 of the 2022 college football season. Ciancia’s Pick Six Previews is one of the most accurate college football magazines at predicting the season.

Ciancia ranks the Georgia Bulldogs as his top team. Georgia football has had two extremely impressive wins this season. This week the Bulldogs dominated South Carolina on the road.

Week 3 of college football featured some close calls in some unexpected games. Liberty nearly defeated Wake Forest, Washington knocked off Michigan State, Oregon beat BYU, and USF nearly won at Florida.

Here’s how Brett Ciancia ranks the top 10 teams in college football:

See Penn State get owned on Twitter after questionable tweet

The Nittany Lions tried to be tricky with a Super Bowl tweet, then things when horribly wrong for Penn State.

With social media having such a large impact in the majority of peoples lives, many collegiate football teams are trying to be at the cutting edge of hyping their teams with posts. Well, it doesn’t always go well, and for Penn State, a recent tweet went bad.

It started with this innocent tweet and some very fine print, then went horribly wrong for the Nittany Lions.

You won’t believe Pick Six Previews’ Top 25 poll position for the Florida Gators

Pick Six Previews had an especially spicy take on what the rankings should look like, with an extremely bullish outlook on Florida football.

As fall draws near, so does college football — at least, for the leagues that have not bowed out of competition due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Of the Power Five group of conferences, the Southeastern Conference along with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Big 12 remain in contention, with the Big Ten and Pac-12 sitting on the sidelines until spring.

With this shakeup in the structure of the collegiate gridiron this year, many have gone about rethinking the national standings in lieu of several big-name schools taking an absence of leave this autumn. Missing notable names including Ohio State, Penn State and Oregon — all residents in the Amway Coaches Poll top-10 — have left significant voids in the poll, leading some to speculate on how a revised assessment of the national landscape should look.

Pick Six Previews, run by Heisman Trophy Award voter Brett Ciancia, had an especially spicy take with their rankings, expressing an extremely bullish outlook on the Florida Gators in their top-25 post via Twitter on Friday. After the Big Ten and Pac-12 teams are shaken out and everything is reassembled, Pick Six Previews puts UF at No. 2 in the nation, behind the 2020 national championship runner-up Clemson Tigers.

The SEC rules the top-10, taking three of the top-5 spots with Florida, Alabama and Georgia at second, third and fourth, respectively, along with Texas A&M at No. 7 and LSU at No. 8 to round out the five league teams in the upper echelon of the revised standings. The ACC is represented by three teams — Clemson, newly-added Notre Dame and North Carolina — while the Big 12 features Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Overall, the SEC has 10 of its 14 members schools in the revised top-25 poll, with Tennessee (11), Kentucky (15), Auburn (18), Ole Miss (23) and Mississippi State (24) receiving mentions.
