Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Phoenix Suns (14-9) host the Milwaukee Bucks (16-8) Wednesday PHX Arena for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Bucks-Suns NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Milwaukee is playing its fourth game of a six-game road trip and has it rolling right now. The Bucks have won and covered the spread in five straight games and are first in net rating, assist to turnover ratio, effective field-goal percentage and rebounding percentage over that stretch.

The Suns aren’t playing much worse despite dealing with some bumps and bruises to their backcourt. Phoenix has won six of its last seven (6-1 ATS) because of defense and how it performed in the closing moments of games.

These teams split last season’s series 1-1 with the home team claiming each victory. Since the beginning of the 2017-18 season, Phoenix is 3-3 straight up and 4-2 ATS vs. Milwaukee.

Bucks at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 114, Suns 105

Money line (ML)

PASS because Milwaukee is the right side but the Bucks (-185) are out of my price range.

Against the spread (ATS)

Elephant in the room: Who is guarding reigning MVP PF Giannis Antetokounmpo? Since Suns wing/forward Crowder is listed as questionable on the injury report, Phoenix’s projected starting power forward is Frank Kaminsky. If that’s the matchup at tip-off, Giannis should demolish him.

Moreover, Phoenix’s injury report is more concerning than Milwaukee’s. The Suns have one of the better 3-point defenses but the Bucks are one of the highest-volume and best 3-point shooting teams in the Association.

If Paul isn’t out there then Phoenix’s 3-point defense will be less effective even with Milwaukee missing Holiday. TAKE BUCKS -4.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

I’d gamble on Milwaukee covering regardless of the final injury report but my handicap of the total is more injury based. Not only does CP3 make Phoenix’s perimeter defense elite but he grinds this game down without Holiday in the lineup.

Also, Milwaukee is doing this thing on defense which allows the poorer shooters on opposing teams to attempt the threes. It’s not working that well so far since the Bucks are 23rd in 3-point defense, but the Suns are 20th in 3-point percentage.

If Milwaukee keys its defense on SG Devin Booker and SF Mikal Bridges the Bucks should be in good shape. BET UNDER 226.5 (-110) for 1 unit (pending the final injury report).

Cavaliers at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 106, Cavaliers 97

Money line (ML)

The Suns have won two in a row in their current homestand and five of their last six overall. They are 4-2 against the Eastern Conference. The Cavs have lost three straight, five of six and seven of nine. They are 3-7 on the road. The Suns do it without shooting well from three-point range (35.2%) but the Cavs are one of only six teams to shoot worse from behind the arc than the Suns.

Take the SUNS (-275).

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Suns have the second-highest cover percentage in the NBA at 59.1% and have managed to cover the spread in every single win. Every one of their losses has been a loss against the spread as well. They have won and covered five of their last six games. The Cavs, on the other hand, have failed to cover the spread in each of their last six games.

Take the SUNS -6.5 (-115).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Suns allow the fourth-fewest points in the league at 106.8 points per game and the Cavs average the second-fewest points per game in the NBA with 102.7. The Suns are 8-14 O/U and have the fifth-lowest Over percentage in the league, while the Cavs are only a little better at 9-14-1 O/U. The Under is 4-1-1 in Cleveland’s previous six games.

Take UNDER 215.5 (-110)

Celtcis at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 109, Celtics 103

Money line (ML)

The Suns have won four of their last five games and are playing pretty well. They will have fans in the arena for the first time this year so there will be some extra juice for the team. Boston is 5-5 straight up as an underdog but has won only four of its last 10 games. Take the SUNS -140.

Pistons at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 115, Pistons 105

Money line (ML)

The Suns have cooled off from their hot start, losing six of their last 10 games and three of their last four at home. However, the Pistons have only won one game all season on the road. The Suns already lost to the Pistons earlier this season in one of their most disappointing games of the year.

They will miss Crowder on defense and for spacing the floor, and Saric’s absence has been felt as well, but they are still sixth in the league in defensive efficiency while the Pistons are 24th in offensive efficiency. Take the SUNS (-375).

Against the spread (ATS)

The Suns’ overall record mirrors perfectly their record against the spread. In every win, they have covered the spread, and in every loss, they failed to do so. Detroit is 11-9-1 ATS this season and beats the spread by 2.1 points per game. Phoenix has won three of four overall, and they have covered the spread in three of their last four games. Take the SUNS -8.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Phoenix still has one of the lowest Over percentages in the league at 40 percent. The Suns’ loss earlier this season to Detroit went Under the total but would have been Over tonight’s total by half a point. Two of the Pistons’ last three games have gone Under. Both teams combine to average 218 points and allow a combined 221 points per game. With the total at 214.5, take OVER 214.5 POINTS (-110).

Suns at Mavericks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 110, Mavericks 105

Money line (ML)

The Suns won Saturday night’s matchup 111-105 with solid play from PG Chris Paul and C Deandre Ayton. Booker missed that game.

The Suns have won two in a row while the Mavs have lost five straight. Dallas is only 2-5 at home this season. With the potential of Booker returning, that will only help Phoenix.

Take the SUNS (+105).

Against the spread (ATS)

The spread is too small to consider going with Dallas and Phoenix has matched game-for-game the money line and spread. When they win, they cover; when they lose, they don’t.

The Mavericks have not covered the spread in their five-game losing skid. Take the SUNS +1.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

The two teams played to the Over Saturday but had a lower projected total of 215 and barely cleared it (216 points scored). 61.1% of the Suns’ games this season have gone Under and 60% of Dallas’ games have as well.

With an increased total over Saturday’s game, expect this to go UNDER 218.5 (-110).

Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Phoenix Suns (9-8) tip off the first of a two-game miniseries with the Dallas Mavericks (8-11) Saturday in the American Airlines Center at 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Suns-Mavericks NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Phoenix snapped a three-game losing skid by beating the brakes off of the Golden State Warriors 114-93 as 2-point home favorites. It was the Suns’ third game without leading-scorer SG Devin Booker. The Suns are just 2-5 overall (2-5 against the spread) in their previous seven games.

The Mavericks were pasted in back-to-back games by the Utah Jazz and are on a four-game losing streak coming into Saturday (0-4 ATS). Dallas has been struggling more than Phoenix and is just 2-7 overall and 3-6 ATS in its past nine games.

The Suns handled business at home vs. the Mavericks 106-102 as 1-point favorites in both teams’ first game of the season. In fact, Phoenix has won and covered four consecutive games against Dallas.

Suns at Mavericks: Odds, spread and lines

Suns at Mavericks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 109, Mavericks 103

Money line (ML)

Both of these teams play a similar style—slow-paced led by ball-dominant guards—however, the Suns execute so much more efficiently. Phoenix is ninth in net rating while Dallas is 20th.

For Dallas, I know they’ve dealt with some bad injury and COVID-19 luck, but the Mavericks were the No. 1 ranked offense in the Association last season compared to their 19th-ranked offensive rating this season. Their defense is even worse this season. Five of Dallas’ previous six losses have been by at least 12 points and they are the worst 3-point shooting team in the NBA right now.

It’s hard to not overreact to how poorly Dallas has played through its first 19 games. I’m fading Dallas until further notice. TAKE SUNS (-105) for 1 unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS on the spread since we aren’t even getting a full basket worth of insurance.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a lean towards the Under 214.5 (-110). The previous three Suns-Mavericks games have fallen short of the total, and these teams have a combined 13-25 O/U record. My hesitation is this is a buy-low point for Dallas’s offense, and it’s the first Mavericks’ game projected below 217.5 points.

Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Phoenix Suns (8-8) host the Golden State Warriors (10-8) Thursday at PHX Arena for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Warriors-Suns NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Golden State beat the brakes off of the Minnesota Timberwolves in back-to-back games coming into Thursday and has a 4-3 overall record (4-3 against the spread) over the last two weeks.

The Suns have struggled recently and following a week of COVID-19-related postponements, they’re just 1-4 overall and ATS since Jan. 18. Phoenix SG Devin Booker exited a 130-126 overtime loss to the Denver Nuggets with a hamstring injury last Friday and has missed the past two losses.

These teams split last season’s series 2-2 but Golden State covered the spread in three of those meetings.

Warriors at Suns: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:20 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Warriors +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Suns -140 (bet $140 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Warriors +2.5 (-110) | Suns -2.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 220.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Warriors at Suns: Key injuries

Warriors at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Warriors 113, Suns 106

Money line (ML)

Phoenix cannot exploit where Golden State is weak; the Warriors’ opponents have the highest free-throw attempt rate in the Association but the Suns have the second-lowest free-throw attempt rate.

Also, Golden State is seventh in opponent’s effective field-goal percentage (eFG%) but Phoenix is 24th in eFG% in the last five games. In their previous seven games, the Warriors are moving the ball well—second in assist ratio—which leads to open looks, and they have the sixth-best eFG% in that time span.

Compound these stats with Booker listed as questionable on the injury report and what is there to like about the Suns here? Finally, this is a fade the market spot as this game opened at a pick ‘em but Phoenix has been steamed up to a favorite.

As always, monitor the injury report but if Booker doesn’t play, GIMME WARRIORS (+115) for a half-unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

Personally, I’m going to buy insurance for my Golden State money line wager with a half-unit BET on WARRIORS +2.5 (-110).

I like the move by Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to sit No. 2 overall pick C James Wiseman for C Kevon Looney in the short term and Golden State’s defense is ninth in defensive rating over the last 10 games.

Over/Under (O/U)

Since the focus of my handicap was how Golden State’s defense matches up with Phoenix’s offense, I lean Under 220.5 (-110) but officially I’ll PASS. The Warriors’ most obvious path to victory is hot shooting from PG Steph Curry, which then provides wide-open looks for his teammates.

Thunder at Suns: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 119, Thunder 111

Money line (ML)

Both teams are struggling. The Suns lost two in a row in overtime and have lost four of five. The Thunder snapped a three-game losing streak two nights ago but had lost five of their previous six.

However, OKC has been oddly good on the road, having gone 6-4 thus far. The Suns are missing their star in Booker and one of their key bench players in Saric. But they are the better team still.

Take the SUNS (-250).

Against the spread (ATS)

The Thunder have been underdogs in every game they have played this season and have one of the best ATS records in the league at 9-7. However, the Suns still have yet to win a game in which they did not cover the spread. When they win, they cover. When they lose, they do not cover. They are 8-0 ATS in wins. They are 0-7 ATS in losses.

Take the SUNS -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Suns have one of the lowest Over percentages in the league at 40%, but that is affected by how their first six games of the season went Under. They are 6-3 O/U since then. Oklahoma City is 9-7 O/U and is allowing more than 113 points per game to their opponents.

Take OVER 220.5 POINTS (-110).

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Denver Nuggets (8-7) visit the Phoenix Suns (8-6) Saturday for the second night in a row. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nuggets-Suns NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Denver rallied back from a 14-point, first-half deficit Friday for a 130-126 overtime victory over the Suns as a 1-point road underdog. There was an awesome battle of bigs with Nuggets’ All-Star C Nikola Jokic matched up against Suns C Deandre Ayton, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft.

Joker nearly posted a triple-double, scoring 31 points with 10 rebounds and 8 assists, while Ayton scored 27 points on 11-for-13 shooting with 13 rebounds. The major storyline for the Suns was their leading-scorer Devin Booker exiting the game in overtime with an injured hamstring and he will be sidelined for Saturday’s rematch.

The season series with these two teams is 1-1 (straight-up and against the spread) with the road team prevailing in each game.

Nuggets at Suns: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nuggets 116, Suns 104

Money line (ML)

I wrote before Friday’s game that “Phoenix’s defense is a little overrated.” Denver would score 130 points, but the score was eight points above the total heading into overtime.

If things go right early for the Suns Saturday, they have the chance to control the tempo of the game, which is their path to victory. The loss of Booker makes it difficult for Phoenix to win if this turns into a shootout.

Not only does Booker’s absence ding the offense, but the gravitational pull Booker’s offense commands will also make it tougher for Phoenix SF Mikal Bridges to get quality looks.

It’s a lot to ask of the Phoenix role players to make up for the loss of Booker, especially against a Nuggets team that that needs to stack wins in a competitive West.

lean NUGGETS (-135) only because the Nuggets’ money line is reaching my personal maximum. If it goes up any more, I’d rather bet Nuggets to cover the spread at reduced vig.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS with a lean on Nuggets -2.5 (-110) because if Denver’s money line gets pricier than -150, I’d prefer to lay the points with the Nuggets.

Over/Under (O/U)

Since I think Phoenix’s defense is overrated, and Denver’s offense is third in offensive rating and eighth in effective field-goal shooting, I’m on the OVER 215.5 (-110) for a bite-sized wager. However, both of these teams are in the bottom-5 in pace of play, so if Denver has an off-night shooting, this game will go Under.
